    Oh how I sobbed and sobbed as I watched this! My Guzzi Norge 1200 GTL and I have been inseparable since we shared our first ride way back in 2008, twelve years of an intense, faithful relationship. We rode through the Welsh mountains this afternoon just as much in love as on our first date.

    I'm not gonna let go my 2009 Stelvio NTX for any motorcycle on earth. With its 114.000 km is just completing the break-in. Whenever I swap from my 790 adv to the Stelvio it feels like home. Love that 1,2 litres V90 engine with the smoothest shaft in the world.

    As a fellow Guzzista aficionado I know how one can fall in love with the short comings of the Guzzi platform. Touch whood so far my Audace never had stranded me anywhere!! But I hope that the T700 Yam will be what you want from the bike a lightweight Adv bike that can do it all. And I hope that You won't have any second thoughts 6 months down the line when your Swiss army knife of a bike is so perfect that it is achually boring cause it will be lacking that individual character charm and well temperament. I had it after my BMW R1100S and Triumph Daytona 955i I hoped on a much more polished motorcycle Suzuki GSXR 1000k4 that was quicker lighter and more powerful the previous two. It was epick round the track on the road it made me feel like a Riding God! But it was like any other 1000cc Japanese inline four!! And even thou I loved it as well it was the first bike that I sold to buy another. And yes I felt like I'm selling my dog and when I had a last look living it behind me my heart was broken! Cause in my mind I was leaving a perfectly good bike behind! I didn't have this with the other two my BMW got written off in a accident and sadly the Triumph got stolen. So this was my first calculated "good bay" to a motorcycle companian that never did anything wrong except just being to quick for the road! I couldn't keep my speed down and after one court case and almost losing my licence I knew that the GSXR has to go or my licence will go! Now I'm on a Guzzi that isn't perfect not as quick not as powerful not as light as the Gsxr but with it's imperfections it's kinda perfect for me. It demands more from me on the road. And it gives me the same smiles as the GSXR but they happen between 20-100mph not like 50-160mph on the GSXR! Any way I'm rumbling on a bit again!! Grate vidoe yet again!! You are becoming one of my favourite motorcycle UA-cam channels! I'm looking forward to the new T700 content!! Pozdrawiam z UK

      I totally understand what you're saying my man. I think Harley riders and Guzzi riders have that in common, a love for the quirks that give the bike character. That's what I love about my Road King. It's not as smooth as a Gold Wing, nor as fast as an FJR1300, but it strikes the right chords. It sounds just right, I like the way the unbalanced engine shakes at a stop, and it's just gorgeous. Bikes like HD's and Guzzi's are simply about enjoying the ride.

    • @DifferentSpokesTV
      @DifferentSpokesTV  4 роки тому +3

      Thanks for the comment as usual. I totally agree. If I had a GSXR 1000 my licence wouldn't last long. That and insane Canadian insurance is what made me sell my old Honda F4.

      I also have an Audace which replaced my Harley Slim. It is a very nice bike, reasonably fast, much quicker than the harley. Handles quite well and comfortable to ride. The comments from the general public are usually what a beautiful bike what is it? Or what model of Harley is that? I have to explain that it is Italian and as you know they are all about design amd making beatiful things.
      My only problem with it is that I am old and it is getting heavy to ride around town doing errands and things. So I added a V7lll to do those chores. I really didn't consider any other bikes except a Triumph but I will never own another chain driven bike. I love Guzzis and you will never see yourself coming the other way.

    Oh, I should not have watched this. For, me it's the other way around. After almost 20 years of struggling, I am about to let go of my Yamaha XT 600 E. Made the big rookie mistake of buying her for looks alone. My husband rides the same bike. We are exactly the same height, but as he started riding at 16 and me at 25, he has absolutely no problems with the bike. But when I first sat on her, I was immediately intimidated. I modded her to bring her height down a bit. But now one of the XT's carburators started to go bad. So I decided to give mine up as a part donator for my hubby's XT. I have been looking at Benellis for quite some time now. But it just won't be the same. Watching your video, I cracked in tears. Something is not feeling right for me...and I know me good old bike will be taken down bit by bit. I am soo not happy, Italo-Chinese beauty or not (well, most people won't get why I love the looks of my XT. But it is what it is). As long as I am riding, everything is perfect. But manouvering her around is a nightmare for me. As soon as tarmac is gone, I am done with her.

      @DifferentSpokesTV  4 роки тому

      Sorry to hear that. Those are beautiful bikes but they are very tall. One solution if you want to be off pavement and still lower to the ground is a Suzuki DR650 which can be lowered significantly. I have a bike shopping video where my wife sits on one that's been lowered and has a thinner seat. There's also the Royal Enfield Himalayan which my wife can flat foot stock. She's 170cm. Good luck with your search and I hope you can get over your XT eventually.

    Dude ,you’ll miss her ,and miss her a lot....this I know as I had an MG NTX , in burnt orange ,which I loved. But i too was also tempted by the lure of another ,newer,more nimble carrot.... by way of an all bells and whistles Honda crosstourer vfr v4 .This turned out to be the biggest mistake of my life.honestly.
    My 1200 Stelvio NTX had never,ever let me down ,even though I rode her spiritedly everywhere.i did however change the oil and filter between 3 and 4000 miles she took the better half and myself all over Europe from Northern Ireland , returned 47mpg average across the 3400 mile trip.
    The sound with the Quill evo 2 can,the right sided torque push when rev’d,the comfort,the looks ,oh my god the looks that only the Italians can achieve.
    a buddy of mine happened to see my old friend at a petrol station a few months back,and knowing how much i miss the ole girl happened to mention to the new owner that he knew the bike ,and me and how I’d buy her back in a heartbeat.
    His reply was” this beaut is the last bike i will ever own,as nothing else compares”
    i nearly shed a tear when my buddy recited the conversation.......
    Anyway , after several attempts and much expense on various other brands that just didn’t produce the bond ,or love i had for the Stelvio, i have finally have found myself in a new relationship ,in the shape of a Moto Guzzi v85tt Kalihari. Not quite as feisty as the Stelvio, but it feels almost like I’m home....
    Happy trails...

    • @DifferentSpokesTV
      @DifferentSpokesTV  4 роки тому

      Thanks for sharing. Yes, I’ll miss the character of the Goose, but I have a cabin where half the roads are gravel and there are tons of trails. I’m still waiting for my Yamaha T7 to arrive but Yamaha Canada loaned me a T7 press bike for the week and I’ve been ripping around the trails here. I guess I never should have expected the Stelvio to be an off road Er given its size but it was scary on loose surfaces. The T7 rips down the trails beautifully. I have to say that I’ll miss the Guzzi but I’m quite looking forward to the new bike bike. I guess it’s about the type of riding you do and I’m off road enough that a smaller bike was a must. Take care and have fun on the V85TT. My friend has one and is very happy with it.

      Sadly that won't happen. Moto Guzzi is now owned by Piaggio, who also own Aprilla.
      Aprilla has all the speed demons anyone will ever need, can you spell Tuono ?
      "The launch of the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 RR proves it is absolutely possible. This motorcycle was bread from the success Aprilia has achieved on the race track, the 65° V4 1100cc engine produces over 175HP at 11,000RPM."
      So now Guzzi is relegated to hipster Harley cruiser competition, 4 valve, large engines and all the cruiser bling ... the real Guzzi seems dead. Sure they have slapped long travel suspension on a 4 valve 850 and given it bright stripes, but it's *very* expensive for a heavy 850cc tractor.
      I'd never buy one.
      I'd be over at the KTM salesroom if I wanted a dual purpose bike. But my mistress is the Guzzi Griso, because after 20 or so motorbikes, it's the bike I was always searching for.
      Hey, how about one of your awesome videos on the sad decline of Moto Guzzi ?

    • @DifferentSpokesTV
      @DifferentSpokesTV  4 роки тому

      @@TerryPorterElectronics Yes, it's too bad they don't seriously compete on performance anymore. That's what happens when you commit to only building traditional air-cooled v-twins. I liked my Stelvio because a big ADV bike doesn't need to be a scalpel on the race track and many riders are not looking for that, but performance and light weight are still nice. I'll put that idea on my list. It'll have to wait as I have quite a list :)

      More curious. Design flaw? blocked passage? How did it happen and is it inclined to happen again? How many miles on it and what year? So many questions.

    • @DifferentSpokesTV

      @@twowheeledgator1364 It was a lack of pressure from the oil pump that got resolved after the rebuild. The bike is a 2014 with 22 000 km (13 500 miles?). I tried to fix it myself but the teardown required removal of the whole engine and I didn't have the tools or the skills. Bike is fine now but it was costly and annoying to have it in a shop.

    I've own Kawasaki eliminator from the first day I've got my driver license.... After 13 years, she's still beating even though the tork had loose, the horsepower are saggy... But it's still move and get me to destination, the biggest problems that i ever have with that motorcycle is a broken starter motor and a broken carburettor diaphragm, that's it.... Never ever she failed me during long journey, traffic jams, rain or shine... She always move.... Nowadays she rarely move because i have another bike, yamaha fz but sometime when i want to enjoy the ride, I'll take her with me... I'm trying to modified her to bobber.... wish me luck

    Non hai fatto una scelta da intenditore.
    Il tenere 700 è solo più facile, non è più sportivo come dici tu. Affatto.
    La differenza di peso ti agevolerà solo in fuori strada.
    Su strada la Stelvio, se la sai guidare, va molto più forte del tenere.
    Il costo dell'olio è dovuto alla qualità dell'olio ma nessuno ti vieta di usare olii più economici.
    Anche sul tenere 700 se metti un olio costoso la manutenzione costa cara.
    Inoltre sui motori giapponesi alcune operazioni non te le fanno (anche se sono previste dal manuale) per non caricarti costi eccessivi.
    E infatti i motori giapponesi che hanno più kilometri (miglia da voi) non girano tanto bene e necessitano di un intervento più approfondito e devi trovare il meccanico che sappia farlo.
    Nella categoria adventure la Stelvio è complessivamente la migliore, è un insieme imbattuto di carattere, prestazioni, economia di esercizio, eleganza, comodità, valore storico e qualità.
    Qualcun altro magari saprà capirla.

    • @DifferentSpokesTV

      That would be true if it hadn't broken down with 22 000km and cost me $3500 to fix.

    • @ZERODOSI
      @ZERODOSI 4 роки тому +1

      @@DifferentSpokesTV "broken" è una parola generica. Bisogna vedere cosa era "broken" e quale meccanico ci ha lavorato.
      3500$ sono tanti, non è detto che fosse un prezzo corretto.
      La mia Stelvio ha 50 thousand kilometri e va come un treno.
      Ci sono tante cose da considerare, resta che il tenere 700 non è paragonabile ad una Stelvio.
      Se fossi stato più vicino, noi guzzisti ti avremmo dato una mano per risolvere il tuo problema.
      Mi spiace.

    There's just something about the bond between man and motorcycle non bikers will never get. You never simply ride a bike, you become one with it. You know it's manorisims, quirks, what makes it happy, and what it does to make you happy.
    It's like any other relationship. If its crap you move on. If its good you suffice, but may be wanting more. So you ditch the bike in favor of something else. If its bliss then you may never get rid if it and be happy for life...some may have a 'side bitch.'
    Regardless, one thing remains the same, you never forget ANY of your rides.
