Pure gold, thank you, sir! As a Guzzi owner in Korea, where knowledgeable mechanics are exceedingly rare, I truly appreciate this. I'm an aircraft mechanic and can do these adjustments at home, I just lacked the base knowledge on where to start. You provided that. Thank you very much!
This is fantastic. Ive looked at so many pictures and its not been clear what is and isnt out of bounds. Not to mention the bonus walk through of the maintenance procedure. Thank you for taking the time to do this Pete!
Perhaps the finest motorcycle film ever made! Well done sir! Now a subscriber. Thanks for helping to understand WHY the famous 'Screw that must never be touched' should not be fiddled with. :)
Hi Pete, thank you for putting the effort in to produce this video, its excellent and a lot more helpful than the usual text explanation found on the various forums. Stephen
Thank´s a lot for this very clear and helpful tour and explanation,! I always keep an eye on, and pay attention to what you have to say in forums and other places, and really appreciate all the knowledge you so generously share with us. I hope to find a lot more in the future. =) /Ronny
Absolutely brilliant! Can you talk about stepper motor and how it might affect idle? 2016 Stelvio with 17,000 miles. Mine idles roughly. But if I stick my finger over the stepper motor hose, it smooths out and idles perfectly. Excellent video!
The only way to alter the target idle is to do it in the map using Tunerpro or the like. There is no 'Physical' way to change the idle speed. That is controlled by the stepper motor.
@@peterroper617 How to open dashboard to arrow i have a problem with rpm on dashboard when i turn the bike on ignition arrow on the rpm is up to 5500 and go to 0 rpm when i start immediately go to 1500 rpm wait 5-6 sec and go to zero rpm but bike is running ok in the rpm arrow is the problem how i fix it sorry for my bad english
Thank you Peter . I knew very little about throttle bodies and now I understand quite a bit ! As I am hoping to have a Guzzi before long I might buy more wisely with your advise on board and know a few things not to do once I do own one . Cheers . And you have another subscriber . I still like those carby things !
Hi Peter, great explanation of the MG throttle bodies. I have a problem with my 2012 Stelvio NTX missing and popping at idle, gets worse when warms up. I found my airbox cracked and letting dirt in, I have cleaned the throttle bodies and found quite a bit of wear in the bores so that the plates do not close completely, it looks like in your video the plates were completely closed. I am thinking this is allowing too much air through at idle and the stepper is adding more. Have you had a situation like this that you were able to remedy by adjusting the throttle plate adjusting screws then doing the synch and tps reset? thanks from west coast Canada
Do NOT touch the plate adjusting screws. Doing so will mean that the interpretation of the entire map will be bolloxed. The only real fix, after fixing the airbox of course and making sure the drains are intact and plugged, is new throttlebodies. If you run an open loop map though you may be able to get it to idle almost reasonably by upping the CO trim to an extreme level. You will pay a price though in engine wear and fuel economy. Is your Stelvio a roller tappet model or has it been rollerised? If it's still running flat tappets the TB's are pretty unimportant to worry about until the tappets are fixed.

Thanks Pete. Well done.
thank you for the advice ,now i know what to avoid while trying to lower idle speed
