- Today I went into Michaels, my favorite art store, for the first time in OVER a year! I cant believe how long it has been but I wanted to document the whole thing and take the camera along with me! I know a lot of you enjoy art store vlogs and art supply haul videos so this is a bit of both. Hope you enjoy!

I’m sorry there are so many ads in this video!! UA-cam placed them automatically and I’m not at my computer right now to change it. I’ll remove some later!
Heehee i have premium no ads 🙂
For me there were no adds
It’s ok 👍
Its ok
It's ok tho
But I didn't even got a single ad😂
OMG last yr when the pandemic was starting, Chloe was going to move into a studio but wasn’t able to anymore because of the pandemic!! I THINK SHE FINALLY MOVED INTO IT!
Yay!! So happy you're able to go out shopping again!! Please craft something out of the "Rae" fuzzy felt sheets. 😆 (I love her sassy lady clothes! lol)
Btw the Tulip fabric markers work quite well actually! The patterned pillow & lampshade I have in some of my intros were created with those - and some shoes too.
first
I will second the Tulip Fabric Markers.
I feel like I am sitting in Chloe’s cart while she goes shopping💀
Yeeeeeeees this was so cool
Bit of a bumpy ride 😜😜, but I had fun. 🙂
yes, nothing to feel ashamed about, when shopping together with someone via a mobile cam.
Trueeeee
I love Hermione's / Emma's pic you have for the PFP GOTTA SCREEN SHOT GURL
Can we appreciate Chloe typing out the captions for us in the video, it takes a really long time!
No one:
Chloe: goes to an art store and almost gets a plant
"Am I going to use it? No, but I'm buying it anyway" glad I'm not the only one who buys pretty things for no reason and with no intention of ever using them
😪 happens to me lol
I do that too. In fact, I just bought six yards of lace that I know I'll never use but they're just so pretty that I couldn't resist.
That's just life
What I have assumed throughout this video: Chloe moved, and she is coming out with her own art supply brand/line
Be glad that you isolated. I am high risk as well, and I got it despite my family doing our best to take all precautions. Ended up on a ventilator for 16 days. Woke up almost completely paralyzed due to oxygen deprivation. Thankfully my movement has come back, but it’s been over a month, and I still can’t stand up. Nobody should have to go through this. I am glad that your mom was protected from it.
How are you now?
You know she’s a real artist when she has a Vincent van Gogh painting (starry night) on her mask
YESS! IKR 😂
Ikr!
Yes! I have a mask with the Scream by Edvard Munch on it! Masks with historical paintings are cool
I write my daily diary entries on starry night themed journals lmao😂😂😂 And inside those journals I keep drawing starry night with markers
I totally understand your excitement. Between Covid and failing health, it's probably been close to 3 years since I've really been able to go into an art store and really spend some time looking around. It's so depressing not being able to do even the simplest things, but watching the videos of amazing people like you, Jazza, Rae, NerdECrafter, Mira, Baylee Jae, etc... have helped me so much. The humor coupled with creativity really helps take my mind off my ailments.
You are a blessing, Chloe! Thank you for being you and for sharing your art experiences with the world.
P.S. I had my 1st vaccine and will get the 2nd on the 20th. I hope you and your family remain healthy & blessed. ❤
Chloe, thank you for being one of the few people (especially youtuber/social media person) that followed quarantine rules to a tee. I very much appreciate your sensitivity in your insta stories about the vaccine and the concerns you had about people from other countries (myself included) who haven't had the chance to get vaccinated.
My depression and anxiety got so much worse from not living the house for over a year, for living in a country (Brazil) where the autorities and even some doctors don't take the virus seriously and. The worst part is that until now millions of lives have ended because of this negligence. I wish more people were like you.
Chloe, I just want to say, thank you for keeping you and other people safe during this pandemic, its really refreshing to see a content creator being careful during Covid!
I can’t go into any art store because...
1) I’m too lazy to get off my bed
2) “I don’t need more art supplies”
And 3)
*I’d buy the entire store 💀*
sameeee problem :)(
lol don’t go since it’s 100 times more money 😂😂
I dont go to the art store cuz I have no moneyyy😂
I can't go out 🙃
All that and I don’t have money:(
You know she’s chloe when she’s
1 wearing at least one thing disney
2 wearing at least one thing starry night
3 seems obsessed with disney
4 seems obsessed with starry night
5 rocks her usual messy hair
and 6 looks like a crazy person talking to books at a store LOL JK JK
u call it messy hair i call it Hermione hair
@@Anna-cb3um lol
You can also use your princess planner to track what already happened. At night before bed just jot down what you did, then you can sleep well knowing you really did get alot done! Use your pretty markers to doodle add stickers and washi tape.
Chloe, I am literally crying with joy for you! I managed to stay away from the craft stores for five or six months. I work in the service industry so I have to leave the house for work, but I pretty much didn’t go anywhere else. But eventually I just had to go to the craft store. I went at the slowest times, socially distanced, made it quick, and of course wore a mask. I can’t imagine staying away for 13 or 14 months. You are a hero and you deserve everything you threw in your cart, and more. ❤️❤️❤️
The fact that it's even _possible_ to live indefinitely without ever leaving your house is utterly mind blowing.
The fact that living indefinitely without ever leaving your house is *necessary* is utterly horrifying.
Just one thing
You seem like a genuinely lovely person
I love that your family actually followed CDC guidance. I cannot imagine how difficult it must have been to not even go grocery shopping for a year!
I'm glad you are all vaccinated now and your mom is safe
I felt this video in my very soul. I've been super-quarantining since last March, and the first time I went into an art store, you could feel the presence of my massive smile through both of my masks.
I like that whenever she picked something up she was like "oh my gosh this is so cute" but the self control kicked in and was like "it's so cute...but I don't need it........"
I go to an art store for the first time in over a year Monday and I’m SO HECKIN STOKED! I am so sorry to my bank account 😆
I hope to go to one or two next week too.
@@lorafrisch8395 I've been ONCE in the past year. So so so so so want to check out the art specialty shop near me (we just moved to a new town).
I just want to go into an art store, push all supplies on the floor and make an art angel in it. That would be my perfect death. Just covered in art supplies, on the floor.
That is the feeling I always get while shopping for supplies EVERYTIME! I LOVE ART SHOPS!
Edit: my fave paper is coldpressed, 300gsm. So nice and thicccc!
Chole, You are such an amazing kind incredible person. I have been a subscriber for a while and it’s amazing to see your channel grow. I love your videos they bring me great joy in these not so joyful times. Thanks for being you a million times!
I hadn't been inside a store since March of 2020. After I got second covid shot, my husband and I went to Walmart and bought new phones, plants, and I was still looking for stuff. I stopped and checked out so something was left for other people to buy. Kidding. The phones and plants were all we got. I thought I'd have an anxiety attack but I did fine. Of course we still observed all precautions. I'm the one who's high risk in our household. 😀👋💖🌺
This was great!! It’s been more than 15 months since I’ve been in ANY store because I am high risk. But I’m fully vaccinated now and my husband will be fully vaxed in 1 week. Can’t wait to actually go to a store again. Especially an art store!!!
I'm in the high risk group and recently got my first vaccine shot, as well as my mom got hers. Now we're going shopping tomorrow - nothing fancy, just groceries, but it's the first time for me to go shopping since the pandemic started and I'm soooo excited! So I totally understand you :D
You know Chloe is excited when she does some random dancing lol
"Somethin Rae would like, you know SaSsY lAdY cLoThEs"

The paint by numbers kept me and my fiancé alive during the pandemic. We would just paint on FaceTime for hours and days. They’re so hard and time consuming so I only did 1.5 during the whole pandemic. When our lockdown ended and we were vaccinated a few months ago we just painted together while we waited for our friends to be able to get vaccinated
I’d be curious to know if you could paint or draw more Disney characters on the planner/diary’s calendar or blank pages. Could be a fun activity and would be a way for you to use the item.
Chloe you are so wholesome.. you’re like Mary Poppins, mixed with the sass of Ariel and the sweetness of Cinderella. Keep creating always!
If any new/beginning artists are looking for a good paper to work with, I HIGHLY recommend the 7x10 in Canson XL Mix Media sketchbook. It has medium-thick paper, it is 60 sheets and it's very affordable for the quality paper you're getting. You really can do anything with it. [with the correct prepping.]
-Edit was fixing mistakes because I'm a moron
Love this Chloe! Could you please do a review on the Staedler fineliners please?? Haven’t bought any because I worry their not great (love my pigma micron pens) but didn’t want to buy it in case they’re awful. Please let me know. And thank you again so much. Love your channel
This is me next week! I have used fabric markers, but mostly to decorate fabric for masks by writing on it.
Hey Chloe, if you're looking for wood to paint on, try hardware stores and Dollar stores. Both have wood panels. The Dollar store one can be painted over with gesso if they're not plain
I use one of those fancy carts for my art supplies. I use the ribbon holder for paper towels, the little outside shelf for my water cups and the hooks and whatnot for my larger brushes. You should give them a chance Chloe!
Great idea!
I'm so so happy you've been fully vaccinated! Wonderful news! And thank you So much for the Michael's tour.
In Canada, where I live, we're still on a lockdown, so seeing the "real world" again, was such a treat.
❤️❤️
That is crazy how long you went into quarantine before going out. Even our family went to sit down restaurants since Mother’s Day last year.
I'm a Michael's employee and this video was quite interesting and fun to watch
Yes you can do what the pictured showed with unicorn spit. Very versatile stuff
In fine liners, I use Staedtler, Micron, and Derwent. I find them to be about the same comparably wise. I hope that you enjoy them.
I've used the fabric markers and pens. They work super well for me. The trick is patience and letting them dry before adding new layers. It's very much like water color concept. I made fun disney masks with them.
Chloe I can’t even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this video. I’m currently living abroad in a small town and the thing I miss the most about living in a bigger city is having access to an art store. We only have one and everything is student grade (not that there’s anything wrong with that but I’ve been doing it for years and like more lightfast stuff) and it’s all triple the price it would be in the states and we have a super limited stock. So I loved this video. Thank you for sharing it even if it was awkward to film.
I use the photo storage for beads and charms. The little vials are good for seed bead storage.
I felt the same walking into halfpriced books store when lockdown was over it was amazing!
I just bought more resin things; my best friend has been bereaved and stressed, and she lives far away. I'm making her a Scrabble set personalized with memories about her, her family, and our adventures and misadventures. I hope it will be tangible comfort when she needs it. I also got a small dollhouse kit, the kind with all the tiny fiddly bits to assemble, and an Edgar Allen Poe coloring book. Projects that have built-in limits. I like to see what other folks choose because you never know what will spark an idea.
Shades of me and a friend in Hobbycraft (U.K.), after the last lock down.... “Tracy, I need Payne’s grey paint, what shall we do!?” Me - I’ll pick you up in a jiffy, get dressed!” £100 later “Ooops’”
The pigment liners you got are the ones Johanna Basford draws her colouring books with.
I love going to art stores especially Hobby Lobby 😊
Congrats on your vaccination! I almost cried when I got mine. I'm a healthcare worker and also happened to get pregnant literally days before the shut down. It was a stressful year.
Liquitex sells acrylic medium with little tiny glass beads. The acrylic dries clear and it leaves weird lumpy texture with the glass beads. Only bringing it up because I don’t know how to use it I just bought it on an impulse.
Oh man. Always get excited going to an art store, but after a year of lockdown it's mindblowing. Went to a Blick with a friend a few weeks ago, and VERY glad to have had a friend with me to pull me out of there eventually. Otherwise I'm convinced I would have just ended up in some sort of fugue state, writhing on the shop floor covered in art supplies and gibbering like a madman. :D
OMG CHLOE IS LITERALLY ME WITH THE “I don’t need it, but I want it, so I’m gonna buy it”
Not sure if you'll see this comment but I just wanted to say I find the Staedtler fineliners to be amazing. My German friend bought me a pack for my birthday since they are really popular there and I find myself using them a lot more than my Sakura Pigma Micron fineliners.
The brand overall is really good in my opinion.
Also I enjoy theses type of videos, even more so since we don't have Michaels in my home country. Infact the only artstore my city had closed down over 7 years ago haha.
I love folk art! They are cheap and they work just as well as the art acrylics!
Yay!!! So happy for you!!! Thanks for taking us along on your shopping trip!
Our province has been on lockdown for a while now, so it's nice to see the inside of an art store again.
I just want to thank you a lot for doing this video ...💞💞
I've never thought of going to an art store before because we don't have any one in my city but you really make me feel like I'm in one of them .
Art stores are very cool .. thanks for this tour .. I really enjoyed it ❤
This made my day ❤❤
THANKS A LOT !!
I can heavily reccomend the staedlter pigment liners set. I've used them for years and years and they're my absolute favorite ones and they last forever!
In Germany the staedtler pencils (always) costs like 9,50€. (11,60$). Its crazy how expensive they are normally in the US. But i saw, that the Posca Markers are cheaper then in Germany. I'll pay 35€ for only 10 Poscas.. 😭
So, what i wanted to say: just because they're expensive, they don't have to be good. Sometimes it's just the export/Import.
But Staedtler is fine:)
Ahhhhh I am so happy for you! I know how seriously you’ve taken the pandemic from day one and seeing you safely moving through the world is just everything
I've tried fabric markers. It takes some trial and error but I was able to get the hang of it. They are useful for details. My dad had a shirt that had an iron on design on it. A section on it had been tore off and I fixed it with a fabric markers. No one could tell the difference. They are pretty useful. Enjoyed the video by the way!
round of applause for you for continuing to self quarantine for the entire year. i feel like so many people just thought it died down.
I have the same problem about buying cute planners and never doing anything with them. That is why I turned to bullet journaling. It's a very flexible method that can be as artistically inclined or minimalistic if you want. Mine only has highlighter at the bottom and top of the page and nothing else, but you can make more if you want.
Lol same but I have rocks that need to be painted! Anything you comment on my video I will draw !!! - it just has to be the most liked comment I am not a creative person so...I need ideas!!!! - Also you get a SHOUTOUT if your comment is the most liked !!! Thanks for reading this here is a cookie for you 🍪
I quite like the Staedler Fineliners they're very consistent and don't smudge the only thing I don't like is that when you erase over them they become lighter (but I haven't had fineliners where that doesn't happen at least a bit)
I mainly do drawings with pencil, ink and alcohol markers so I use the bee paper marker sketchbook. They also make watercolor and pencil sketchbooks as well. Really nice quality. We’re discontinued but recently came back after about a year out of business.
Love the “starry night” mask.
The Staedtler pigment liners are good, I use them for my Zentangles.
Staedtler pens are good. I bought a set last year. I like the texture on the barrels. I'm a big fan of Canson in most of it's forms. I buy a lot of their blue multimedia sketchbooks. And I like their bristol.
"Everything is so bright and colorful!"

😂
I was just as excited when I walked into a Blick for the first time in my life. I could not contain myself. So glad you got a chance to get into the store finally!
Yeah buy your tie dye soon. It sells out in the summer! Those michaels scrapbook boxes. I use as a project box. It's usually perfect for maintaining a work in progress. Careful with the woodless pencils, they break super super easy. These big box stores have to get stock out at a certain point, so even good products get marked down drastically. Like the video!
That starry night mask is everything 😭😭❤
Ikr. You don't get masks like that in India.
@@SaurabhsArt you can paint duh 😁
@@aestheticart.2407 true. But I'm not very fond of painting. Nor am I very good at it 😅

My day Just got better because of Chloe😎❤
i've used staedler liners for years before switching to micron, and imo the microns are much better, interesting that you found both!
I found this video after it had been posted 17 minutes before and I got excited....I love to see what artists pick up....when our lock down is over I want to try some of the products you showed...Thank you for sharing and I can not wait to see your video next week....HUGS
Watching you go through Michael's is very surreal for me now that I work at the local store here. For the record they not only have amazing art supplies, but they also have the most lax employee dress code ever which allows for tattoos and piercings and vibrantly colored hair. And tshirts with different things on them. Great place to work.
Staedtler are my favourite fineliner pens, and the cap can be left for about 12 hours before they dry out 👍
You got some great bargains! The woodless pencils and fine liners are very good quality. And the little journal is great for keeping track of your ideas and stuff you want to try. Just recently started using acrylic again so I’ll be rewatching a lot of your videos ❤️
I’m quite jealous of your trip! I haven’t been to a store in over a year either. For a few different reasons, mostly for the possibility of anaphylactic reactions my doctors are advising me not to get vaccinated. My husband and oldest son got theirs, but our youngest son isn’t old enough yet. I’m hoping in 6-8 months I can rely on herd immunity and be able to go out safely. I’m extremely high risk, but we’ve been quarantining at home for the past year with no issues. Our boys attend virtual schools and my husband’s position at work was changed to virtual permanently. With that being said, I’ve been watching quite a few UA-cam videos and slowly building up my art supplies by ordering online. Chloe, thank you for your videos, I really enjoy watching!
I’ve been locked down as well because high risk, and I appreciate very much being able to live vicariously through you. (The kohinoor woodless pencils are one of my favorite things! Hope you enjoy them.)
I have used fabric pens before they are amazing just make sure you iron the shirt you are about to draw on first to get rid of all the fluffy shirt particles
My favourite paper is Canson mixed media and watercolour paper.
That Michael's is HUGE! SO envious.
Favorite paper? Strathmore. I tried canson but didn't like it much. Now I'm trying an illo sketchbook and I'm in love with it (I sketch a lot and also use markers)
Don't worry about the fine liners. I've had my stedler liners for years.
You know it's been one heck of a year when you get excited over wooden pegs 😂 Also, I felt your struggle with buying agendas and never filling them out lol 💃🏽
Yes! I just know this video is gonna be amazing!
As someone else who has been staying in for the last 14 months, this was so exciting for me. I went to Hobbycraft the other day for the first time in over a year but your Michael's looks AMAZING by comparison. So jealous.
I use the daily planner ALL the time!!!

Careful with the woodless colored pencils if you don't use them correctly or over a long period of time they will get very waxy, I love them however they will break easily if pressed too hard. Prisma color is easier to blend and build however those particular ones are good for mixed media. I have same set and after about 3.5 to 4 years the waxy texture is more evident and they are much harder to blend.
Art is the journey of a free soul : )
I love Michael's! I got those woodless colored pencils a couple years ago and I've been happy with them (except that they're a bit fragile and break if dropped on a wooden floor). Instead of buying a planner, bullet journals allow you to customize your own pages and only make the pages you'll actually use =)
Looking forward to your announcement next week!
i loved this video! i can’t express how much i appreciate the subtitles, thank you for being accessible! have a good day🥰
I got my first vaccination last week and waiting for my second. loved this.
We’ve been in lockdown since December so this tour was just what I needed. Thank you for this! 😘
I haven’t been to a Michaels since before Easter 2019. I’m fully vaccinated, but sprained my ankle and still really can’t go 😭. My favorite paper is Carson for sketch/drawing and Borden and Riley Paris paper for markers and moleskine watercolor for urban sketching.
