When we moved to FL from NYC I was in shock that every shop had bathrooms, and you didn't have to be a customer to use them. NYC was always hard to find a bathroom as either they were "customer only" or employee only. FL may be crap for so many things but bathrooms and actual helpful employees is something that is abundant, and appreciated.
The imp in me is very tempted to be an outraged customer wondering why I can't have an actual bath there in between shopping bouts - given there's... a bathroom! 😆 🇬🇧🇺🇸
the gouache set is an introduction TO THE PROFESSIONAL STUFF. It's definitely the really expensive one, but it's meant to be the set you buy at the start to get a good selection rather than needing to buy single tubes.
The Range used to be soooo expensive now it's absolutely amazing, I always check that out first before hobbycraft because hobbycraft gives me a heart attack price wise
If you think Hobbycraft prices are expensive you should see what the prices are like here in Australia, we have nothing like that shop here, and unless you shop at the $2 shops, which have limited ranges, you have to pay heaps more than anything in Hobbycraft. We do have online craft shops but the range is limited and expensive.
The Range can be hit and miss. They charge more for certain art products over others. I use oil paints and they charge way more than Hobby craft. But it depends on region and what discounts there are. I find the Works (live in the North) have these Canvas pads for £2-£3 with 8-10 sheets and they are amazing love using them. Add your own gesso to them great for practice. Esp if using oil paints.
The Range is AMAZING It really only came into prominence about 15 years ago, I think there were a few around before then, but in recent years it seems every major city in the UK now has a Range somewhere! The one near me doesn't have a great deal of stuff in terms of art things, but for décor, it's brilliant! Hopefully, at some point, you'll be able to find a 'The Works' to visit too, they're another good, cheap art store range over here. I'm glad you found a good Hobbycraft, though - not all of them are as amazing as that. The one near me has really gone downhill over the past couple of years. And don't worry - completely understand what you meant about value for money - yes, for me over here in the UK it's expensive, but with the exchange rate, it would work out better value for you! @@ChloeRoseArt
It was so cool seeing you visit a UK HobbyCraft store!! I am based in the UK and I love going to HobbyCraft to get materials for my crafting projects!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the UK HobbyCraft!!
Congratulations on your engagement! As a former employee of Hobbycraft, I wholeheartedly approve of Chloe’s choices. It’s one of the more creative and inspiring places to work as an artist and crafter. (Yeah, it’s not perfect, but I would love to work there again!) I love the wedding decoration ideas. Having a traditional wedding can be so expensive - especially when you’re trying to do all the things that are expected as standard! It’s so much better to use your creative skills and make the theme based on you, not the other way around! I can’t wait to see the finished creations.
Ahhh, thanks for taking us to the UK! It's neat seeing all of the differences/similarities between art shops in England versus North America. Loved the vlog-style vid too, it was relaxing to watch 😄
I have a Hobbycraft near me, its great, and it has a second floor. (In Cambridge) they also do art workshops and classes for a variety of arts and crafts.
Being a Westcountry Maid, I'm glad you enjoyed a mooch round _The Range!_ Did you know, it started as a little business in Plymouth in Devon - not too far from Yeovil... 😁 Owned by a local chap called Mike Counsell.
If you ever go to London, I can always recommend having a look in the London Graphics Centre. They're kind of pricey, but it's fun to look around in AND it's 2 floors
I used to set up a stand and sell my art in that exact hobby craft when i was about 12. It was the only place that little me could find copic markers :)
Totally agree that people need hobbies and that they're expensive. I crochet (18 years), cross stitch, latch hook, sew, quilt, and diamond paint. Right now I'm actually working on a custom diamond painting that I designed.

Not sure if you aware but you can also book into activity sessions held in store using their materials, but they teach you craft techniques in small groups. They run regularly and details can be found in store or on website. Next time your here, I'm sure we'd love to see you check out their in store activity sessions( if that's something the store would allow) 💕

I used to see Spectrum Noir alcohol markers when ACMoore was in business, and bought quite a few of their sets. But t I’m not doing alcohol marker art anymore, so not aware if they’re still in the big box stores here in US anymore or not. I think I’ve seen them in US online though. There is also a Joann fabric store but that's about it around here! we also have a flea market which is massive as well you can find some neat craft stuff in there as well! but also it can get weird some booths are... interesting to say the least lol.

I was really impressed with the art section of The Range last time I was there, especially their Cotman paintbrush range. I'll be checking out that Hobby Craft next time I'm in Yeovil. 😊
_The Range_ seem to have a good deal with Winsor & Newton as well - they stock a lot of W&N's range in my local shop, and it's quite competitively priced.
My local hobby craft has two floors 😂 the paints used to be upstairs until they swapped it all round and moved all the art paints and mediums downstairs 😂
This place looks so cewl. I have always wanted to go to the UK and to know that they have a place where I can get all my art supplies is great. If you ever go to Japan they have daiso and other stores that are 3 stories of craft supplies so it be neat to see you go there sometime too.
I'm so jealous of this hobby craft. It's so big, the one near me is a good size, but the knitting and kids' crafts definitely take up most of the shop 😭
Did you try some of the range acrylic paints? I’ve just got a couple but I’m very impressed by them - if you like opaque, smooth and very matte acrylic.
@@221b-Maker-Street I'm only seeing your question now! Sorry!! From what I have tried (and I am not an expert in acrylics/haven't tried many. I tend to use watercolours more) they are very opaque and have good coverage. They also dry very matt. The Winsor and Newton Galleria are A LOT more transparent and satin finished in comparison. I like them as a cheaper alternative when I don't want to use my more expensive Turner acrylic gouache. The coverage is great from what I've seen.
I went to a reception for a wedding where some of us went early snd set up the tables and chairs snd tablecloths snd table decorations snd all that BEFORE the wedding party snd guests arrived. This meant i didn't attend the wedding, but i didn't know the couple. The parents of one of them asked me to help, and in exchange i got s free meal. I'm not sure if that's an option for you or not. Some wedding attendees did also help The reception was held at a different location than the actual ceremony also We also stayed after the reception snd did clean up.
Another vote here for Dick Blick - and I'm British! Even with import duties and delivery charges, it's cheaper to buy some art supplies from DB in the US than here in the UK. 🙃
I was just in London last month, but I'm from South Africa, so the exchange rate really hurt. £1 is R25 or so. I barely bought anything the first week i was there because I kept converting in my head.
Spotlight and Lincraft really cannot be compared to a shop like Hobbycraft! They are both haberdashery shops which sell a limited range of craft supplies. I find the best place for craft stuff is Kmart, much cheaper and have a good range. I wish we had something like a dedicated hobby chain store, like Hobbycraft here.
I've never seen Spectrum Noir in Australia, at least in the stores I go to. I think you maybe thought that because of Jazza and his collabs with them, but I think he might be working with them because his audience is so worldwide.

Adore such videos, thank you so-so much for this one=)
The Works is a good craft store as well in UK
spectrum noir is sold at my local craft store in the u.s. 🎉
What an Art Supplies Paradise out there
This place looks so cewl. I have always wanted to go to the UK and to know that they have a place where I can get all my art supplies is great. If you ever go to Japan they have daiso and other stores that are 3 stories of craft supplies so it be neat to see you go there sometime too.
I love abstract paint
Hi I love your videos also I know that exact hobbycraft!!
I’m based in latinamerica, and those prices are a treat!!!!!! Compared with the prices X3 or more here
I'm so jealous of this hobby craft. It's so big, the one near me is a good size, but the knitting and kids' crafts definitely take up most of the shop 😭
You can get spectrum noir markers here in the USA, just not as easy to find as they used to be.
Oooo ok now I need to go visit The Range!!!
The store probably had a big focus on sets because of the time of year. They make great gifts! ❤
I bought Spectrum Noirs in the States. Michaels had them
Can confirm. I live in Ohio and can easily find Spectrum Noir in a few stores.
A little someone is watching and saying “Chlo Chlo” ❤
You can get spectrum noir markers at JoAnns in the US
Did you try some of the range acrylic paints? I’ve just got a couple but I’m very impressed by them - if you like opaque, smooth and very matte acrylic.
May I ask how you find they compare to other specifica acrylic brands that you've used, in terms of coverage etc?
@@221b-Maker-Street I'm only seeing your question now! Sorry!! From what I have tried (and I am not an expert in acrylics/haven't tried many. I tend to use watercolours more) they are very opaque and have good coverage. They also dry very matt. The Winsor and Newton Galleria are A LOT more transparent and satin finished in comparison. I like them as a cheaper alternative when I don't want to use my more expensive Turner acrylic gouache. The coverage is great from what I've seen.
I went to a reception for a wedding where some of us went early snd set up the tables and chairs snd tablecloths snd table decorations snd all that
BEFORE the wedding party snd guests arrived.
This meant i didn't attend the wedding, but i didn't know the couple. The parents of one of them asked me to help, and in exchange i got s free meal.
I'm not sure if that's an option for you or not. Some wedding attendees did also help
The reception was held at a different location than the actual ceremony also
We also stayed after the reception snd did clean up.
Live in the US (Texas) and have run into spectrum noir in stores before.
The Dick Blick's Art Supplies store in Chicago is 2 stories, Chloe, if you have a chance to shop there I think you'd love it!
Another vote here for Dick Blick - and I'm British!
Even with import duties and delivery charges, it's cheaper to buy some art supplies from DB in the US than here in the UK. 🙃
‘She’s staring at me but she isn’t she works here… well she doesn’t she’s a cardboard cut out” made me loose it. lol too funny
That’s the Hobbycraft in my town!
I was just in London last month, but I'm from South Africa, so the exchange rate really hurt. £1 is R25 or so.
I barely bought anything the first week i was there because I kept converting in my head.
That’s the hobby craft I go to!
You were in YEOVIL?! Im just up the road!! 😍 my local Hobbycraft!!! Ahhh!
Lovely video I’m Australian we get spectrum noir products hear.. we have a big hobby shops they are lincraft and spotlight..
Spectrum is uk and Europe , we can only get copies here in Australia
I've never seen Spectrum Noir in Australia, at least in the stores I go to. I think you maybe thought that because of Jazza and his collabs with them, but I think he might be working with them because his audience is so worldwide.
My favorite store is Hobby Lobby!🎉But I would leap at the chance to visit Hobby Craft.
