- The Noble Street School is a former elementary school in Anniston, Alabama. It opened on September 13, 1926. The Noble Street, Glen Addie, Woodstock, and South Highland Schools were ordered to close by the U.S. District Court in the early 1970s in order to make the area school system compliant with federal desegregation mandates. Although segregation has ended, racism is still all over the world...do your part to end it.
Disclaimer: There was not a single sign, the gate was open, I left with nothing. Also it's public property. That's just to clear up for those who assume I broke in. Oh yeah, the doors are open on the metal stairways on the ends. That's where we always went in to class. I was almost late...

I went to Noble Street School in 1st and 2nd grade. 1952-1954. It had the coolest playground equipment. By todays safety standards, its a wonder we survived. The last classroom you went in looked like my first grade class. It had a cloakroom where we hung our coats and many boys got paddled.

Went there 1st grade through 6th grade.So sad to see it in such bad shape. Really strange looking at the inside and remembering those halls and rooms.
Wish they would remodel these kind of buildings, hate seeing history disappear.

I attended 10th Street School back in its hay day (1964 to 1970) and I heard it wasn't too long ago that it closed. I sure miss those days. They were good.

I live about 8 blocks from there. I did a semester of college there around 2001 when it was the Gadsden State Anniston campus.
Yeah Jeff but it’s a shame letting it fall apart when it could be repurposed into something else like a homeless shelter or an orphanage and even a clinic , instead of what it is now.
Wow a blast from the past. I went to school there for a couple of years in the 1960's like 67 and 68. We lived just 3 or 4 blocks away. I wish if you have the time to do a video on Woodstock elementary school. It's not that far from there is it ? Seems like just blocks but probably more than that.
Dates are pressed into the porcelain toilet tanks when its wet before theyyre fired in a kiln with a rubber date stamp . No need for ink. Look close to find.😊❤

They bulldozed the highschool and elementary part that I went from first to twelfth grade in just so they could build a new school for kids . This school was also used as a field army hospital during the civil war. It's so sad that they did that.

lol no that was JSU environmental classes. The same fella brought “googling” something too. Everyone laughed and said, “what does that mean?”
