    Really nice to see the deserted school. And Appam, ND as I eat. A bison burger with cheese. That I cooked in a oven range skillet. All alone in my apartment.

    What a beautiful and unexpected walk through time! I love all the old abandoned buildings and the look back at what life must have been like! The school was really awesome and to see the stark contrast in the brick work vs the rest of the building, is a real shock. But the insides of the little school is just amazing! And the gym! What a treat! Thank you both for this wonderful treat and the time travel! It was just awesome! ❤❤❤❤

      It did feel like a time travel! Really, really wishing we could have gone inside that home Charlie flew to with the drone. It looked like it was still furnished. Also would love to walk that gravel more to find more agates. Thanks for watching!

    Very cool adventures for you guys!! The buildings evoke some sadness, but a personal study of local histories in these remote areas lets you examine a past of more bustling humanity. That agate was waiting for you to find it!! WOW!!! Yes, more of these videos would be exciting!! Thanks, my friends!!

    Yay! I’ve managed to get caught up! I will probably get behind again in the near future, but I’m ready for the next video now.
    Those old homesteads were quite interesting to see, but there is definitely an aura of sadness around them. People raised their families, lived there lives, and dreamed their dreams in them. Now they are empty husks, holding only memories. I’m glad you, and we, got to see what is left.

    Thanks for the tour of Apam- so cool there are still people living there- we saw the satellite dishes on some homes. I would love to read those short stories about life in Apam in the past.
    Oh my gosh! You found the most beautiful carnelian agate and the fortification banding on that second agate was gorgeous! Incredible finds! Who would have thought there were carnelian agates in ND!

    I LOVE old abandoned houses and Ghost town type stuff, it always gets me thinking about the people who were there , like how many family Christmases and Thanksgivings and other holidays were celebrated there, did any one have hobbies and when they closed the door to leave did they know they were leaving for the last time . And Holy Agate Rocks that thing is freaking beautiful Liz good find 100% ... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Do another video like this... HAHA The End of this one killed me " I forgot my name and I'M BOB !!" What I found out about the Hamlet school it might have been built around the 1915 or the 1920s. I did find a comment about the first boy to graduate from Hamlet school graduated in 1931 posted by his son. The Bethel cemetery was that you visited was so cool, I love to explore old cemeteries to see how long ago it was started. Keep up the great videos and God bless you and your family.

    Ironically, the reason for the desolation of this area passed right by you early in this video. Farm equipment such as that has enabled a farm family that could barely farm 160 acres in the 20s and 30s to be able to farm upwards of 10 or even 20 thousand acres. Very few of the original homesteads remain, most are just a hill where they were buried or just an insignificant driveway along the road. All of these farm families fueled these little towns. As mechanized farming took over, there was less need for the ancillary businesses. Sure does look lonely.
    Best regards from Indiana.

    Those were both cool schools. But, I like the second one best. First one looked lil sus with the cracking (lead?) paint. Wouldn't have been surprised to see one of the chairs start moving. Lol! Neat and somewhat sad video The Adventure Closet, as time advances things and places get left behind. It is lonely and far between out there, thank you for traveling The Road Forgotten. And cool beans on the rock finds as well, good eye! I had a thought as I was watching your intro with all the foggy windows, do you often have a fire during the evening? My thought is using some of the heated rocks to help keep you warm overnight. I think something as simple as an ammo can to hold the rocks, and a heat proof surface to set it on might work. Be safe in your travels.

    • @TheAdventureCloset
      @TheAdventureCloset  9 місяців тому +1

      Wow, that is actually a great idea. Especially with using an ammo box. No fire hazard or getting soot on everything. We have fires occasionally, so we'll have to remember that trick. Thanks!

    Most likely a church/school since it is next to the cemetery. As people moved west, the settlers would have multipurpose buildings, especially since there were so few trees. The eggs are probably prairie chickens or grouse, but I could certainly be wrong.

    I now live in north Dakota I moved here from lake wood California because it was to expensive,I live in rugby north Dakota and It is better than California the gas is cheaper the water and heating is cheaper but it is hard to get a job here I have been here for 5 months and I don't have a job yet the places of business here are flakey and they don't like people from California also the winter is brutal here,I am a certified welder and I applied for welding jobs and they always tell me sorry we hired someone already yet they still are looking for welders so it is bull shit here but that is ok if me and my brother can't get work soon then I am going to go on uninployment and the people here will be paying for my bills so either way I win, I bought a house here in full no morgage and so I am not moving I have a 5 bedroom house and I am getting solar on my house so then all I have to pay a month is 148 dollars a month and that is it so if anyone needs to move and needs a room I have 4 bedrooms available right now and rent will be what you use in your share of water and heating oil, but the heating oil is only used in the winter so in the summer you don't pay for heating oil and we would go fifty fifty on that ,so it would be cheap for everyone in the house we don't do drugs and not looking for anyone who does drugs unless it is for a medical condition. my phone number is (701)2080767 call if you are interested.
