Watching this tape makes me proud to be a graduate of Rutgers University and proud to have represented Rutgers University on the football field (club athletics). Go Rutgers !! Good luck in the BIG 10. (Joseph Gittens, Jr ., LPN. )
I grew up in Central Jersey. Even though I live in LA now, I'll never forget when I was 18 and watched our state college beat this team in our house. Stunning.
I remember watching this game on TV up in Boston with some friends and 2 of the RAs who were from NJ. We were going insane and the RAs wanted to make sure no one was being attacked or something and when they saw the game they ended up staying and watching with us. My entire family was there (we had 12 tickets since the 50s) but I couldn't make it because it was a Thursday game during my freshman year and I had class the next day. I remember going to games as far back as the Old stadium with the wooden, backless bleachers and troughs in the bathrooms. This win was one of the most awesome moments ever.
I miss Big East Football. I will admit, I was not sold on Rutgers for most of the 2006 season, because of their schedule. Then when they defeated my Pitt Panthers in an October game in Pittsburgh, I was like okay this team is pretty serious. When they beat Louisville on this night, I had nothing but respect for them, especially in how they came back. I think, had they beaten WVU in the last game of the year, they would have played in the Orange Bowl against Wake that year.
I was behind the endzone wearing a yellow event staff jacket at the end of this game. Impossible to keep the people in the stands, Mainly we tried to keep people from getting hurt as they jumped from the field level seats. One of the great days ever for R.U. sports. Glad I was there! The offsides at the end and Judge Ito's game-winning "do over" felt like a miracle!
Me and my dad were offered tickets last minute by a family friend right in the end zone where the field goals were kicked straight at us first Rutgers game I’d ever been to I remember thinking “man are all the games this awesome?”
the game was the best was in 2006 rutgersvs louisville when jajuan spillman ran 100 yards back on rutgers to shut the fans up it was 15-7 in the 1st half of the game everyone need to watch that game again i did and it was a nice one.
I was on campus less than a mile away from the stadium watching the broadcast. Definitely remember thinking how dumb those kids were to rush the field early, and then that roar that I'm sure even the others down on College Ave heard.
Ugh talk about a second half meltdown. Sad considering we beat this team by 51 the year before. Oh well it ended on a high note with a win in a BCS bowl, then beating Rutgers to go to the Sugar Bowl in 2012 was pretty sweet as well.
***** RU as a whole sucks...stop talking like your school is relevant in any sport...if the player doesnt jump off sides you lose...it will be a long ass time before you can enjoy any major sport at your school
As a big college football fan I remember watching this just because Rutgers had been so awful and now had a shot at being relevant. I don't think I ever pulled for a team that I had no connection with and was not a fan of so hard in my life.
@@josephmanno4514 we still won the orange bowl that year so im not to salty. Was one of if not the biggest win in Rutgers history. Im just saying had we won we could of played for a national championship
Damn William Gay. Why did you have to do that?! A 33 yard FG...ironically the same number Andre McGee wore in basketball. As a Louisville fan just fuck the number 33. I honestly was never a fan of Gay after that. Then he got to the NFL and played for the Steelers, and I'm a Bengals fan, and he had some chippy moments with the Bengals so I had more reasons to not be a fan of his.
j brook we're playing in a big boy conference now. We'll step up the game, NJ has so much talent, if Rutgers builds the program correctly, the sky is the limit.
+ravi8490 Agreed. New Jersey has some of the best high school sports in the country. High School football we have the best conference in the entire country.
Who's here bc schiano is back!?
Hell ya!

I was there as well and it was an awesome experience. The place was rockin' that night, particularly in the second half when they had the momentum.

After this week's loss to Kansas, this Louisville game feels like it was 50 years ago
Thanks for posting. Looks like RUs second TD is missing from the video. Anyone have a video of it?

It's funny when the high light of your football program is beating louisville.

LOL at the folks who went on the field with 1 second to go. Next time, wait until the buzzer sounds and THEN go onto the field...
There is no BUZZER in football, genius
Nice UL. Have the 2007 Rutgers/USF game?
We could of played for a title smfh
