    Ah 2005. A much simpler time. USC was on top. MySpace was at its peak. You were on limewire looking for your favorite song. You made calls on a landline. People wore Livestrong bands. And when everyone had higlights in their hair. No worries about a virus. A conspiracy theory didn't flood the net. No stupid Instagram or Tiktok.

    It's 2005. My team (UGA) is a winning team during the height of Mark Richt's coaching era. Mom has some Dominoes on the way and she is making some spaghetti and garlic bread downstairs. USC in the 2000s - collected all the best talent from the state of CA (all you need) + surrounding states. Fast forward to 2019 - the best are all leaving PAC-12 territory because of the relative obscurity of west coast college football. Teams like Clemson and the SEC are grabbing the elite guys. @@northwestprof60 There are all kinds of northern teams that still have natural turf and it’s fine. Take Lambeau Field, for example. They play more games on their field and their season goes longer. Yes, they have the water heating system or water it is, but Notre Dame easily could have done that as well. Purdue has natural turf and it’s only about 100 miles South of Notre Dame. Michigan State went back to natural grass for this season and East Lansing is actually North of South Bend. Notre Dame has more money than God. They should be able to figure out how to make their field look nice for 6-7 games per year.

    • @northwestprof60
      @northwestprof60 4 роки тому

      @@Whoopdido777 Matt, that field is HEATED with underground coils. The cost of that would be astronomical. It's the climate that does this: that's why virtually ALL schools at this latitude have gone to field turf. If a handful have gone back, they are about 1-2% of the schools who have done so!! When you figure in the cost of maintaining grass into November and even early December it is prohibitive. Notre Dame has a lot of money but it is largely spoken for and this project is not high on the list

    • @Whoopdido777
      @Whoopdido777 4 роки тому +1

      @@northwestprof60 Yet they spent $400 million on their God awful looking Crossroads project which ruined the look of their stadium and, of course, added some luxury suites to boot. But even taking the coils out of the equation, if Purdue and Michigan State can maintain their fields into November, why wouldn’t Notre Dame be able to? Penn State has grass. Pittsburgh has grass. UConn has grass. All of those schools have very similar climates to Notre Dame In November.

      Well if it was on ABC back then it would have still been great because ABC Sports was still around. Even ESPN was good back then. Getting rid of ABC Sports, an extremely valuable brand with 50 years of built up equity, was also a monumental mistake.

    This game and how it ended to me shows NO DOUBT about WHO started the Reggie Bush investigation.
    Was Reggie guilty? Yes. However, that didn't.change the outcome of this game as it wasn't performance-related.
    Reggie broke the (now archaic) rule of taking money TO HELP OUT HIS FAMILY.
    Sure, that WAS a violation of the collegiate athlete rules. But Notre Dame lost this game, or, better yet, depending on perspective, USC WON this game because they were better talented than was ND.
    SO THAT SHIT is just SHIT.
    Did Reggie push? Yeah, he DID. Again, SO? Are you SERIOUSLY TELLING ME THAT IF ND DID THE SAME THING, THEY TOO WOULDN'T BE WRITING HERE WHAT I'M WRITING HERE?
    Those were two great teams, but one was WAY OVERRATED and were lucky to be IN that game on that day.
    I'm thinking of the 2004 National Championship game here... ND would have suffered the SAME FATE that OU suffered that New Year's day.
    Fuck the "Bush Push".... AS ND fans would have ALSO ignored it if it helped THEM to victory.
    Great game and finale, though. 🤣🤣🤣

      ND went 6-6 with Tyyyrrooonneee Willingham the year before. Carroll beat a 1st coach by 3 pts. So did unranked MSU.
      ND beat 3 ranked teams that ALL finished UNRANKED. So ND beat no final ranked teams and lost to the 2 ranked teams they played. What a FING joke of game in retrospect.
      ND is a farce. Never a conf championship, EVER, and is 0-1 in championship games. It gets better, 0-14 in bowls against top 15 teams since 95.

I remember watching this game and listening to their fans screaming "bullshit" because they were given 7 seconds back to run another play. It was totally obvious that the ball went flying out of bounds with what I saw 8 seconds on the clock!!
