- The Cybermen beat the Daleks when it comes to music. This arrangement mixes the official Cybermen theme from the 2006 soundtrack, the piece performed at the Children in Need Concert and unreleased music from The Age of Steel. Enjoy! :)

That parallel universe two-parter is my favorite Cybermen story.

This two-parter is such a mixed bag of amazing moments and highly questionable ones, but it's way too significant in the show's history to ignore. I'll go ahead and say I like it.
if nightmare in silver had been a two-parter and hadn't had those annoying kids, it would have been one of the best and most sinister episodes of doctor who to date, and certainly the best cyberman episode
the scenes with the doctor and his evil half were I think some of the best scenes in Doctor who. I love whenever the doctor has to face off against his darker self. The Valeyard, the Dream Lord, his own daemons before the day of the doctor and the doctor/cyber controller.
johnkerry7 But he wasn't facing his evil self, it was just a Cyber-Planner taking him over. There was nothing in that that was the Doctor.
Part one should have replaced Journey to the centre of the TARDIS and have been called Saviour of the Cybermen, and then have part two be called Nightmare in Silver :)

I wish they'd finally give us an episode that would justify why the Moffat era got rid of these Cybermen.
The Cybermen frequently update their look and always have done. No biggie.
Also, Moffat wanted to bring back the original Cybermen from Mondas, so giving them a new look would help distinguish them from the Cybus Cybermen.
Also (again) the new Cybermen are made out of more flexible, lighter materials that weren't available to the costume department in 2006.
TheValeyard92 That's all well and good, buuuut why were the Cybermen encountered in A Good Man Goes to War and Closing Time still presented in the Cybus design, except had the blank chestplate instead of the C logo? Continuity implying they're the Mondas variant. Why not just redesign them for that? Also the new Cybermen are too invincible and with the only surefire to get rid of them is planetary detonation, so how are we puny humans supposed to stand any chance if these new Cybermen appear in modern-day Earth?
NeoDragonCount It's traditional to update the look, and the costumes of the new Cybermen are lighter, more flexible and generally more practical.
However, RE: "Why were they Cybus Cybermen in AGMGTW and Closing TIme?"... Dunno. Budget wouldn't stretch to new suits I suppose.
As for their powers, that really isn't anything to do with the design/look of them. If they hadn't had the new suits ready in time for Nightmare in Silver, the script would have stayed the same and they'd still be being portrayed as that powerful.
Also, it's all fiction, so how powerful they are completely depends on the writing of any given episode.
TheValeyard92 Well that AND their powers seemed a little inconsistent. In one scene a Cyber Unit ran like the Flash, yet they only do it once to abduct one of those super annoying kids (another thing that ruined Nightmare in Silver). So why weren't they all super-speeding and snapping the soldiers' necks in the process of being literally untouchable? Wouldn't it make more sense to just end the threat there instead of marching slowly towards the castle? In fact, if they could run so fast, they could've just ran over the moat, over the walls and past the defenses and taken everyone out.
Plot convenience.
Another thing; why did the partially upgrade Hedgewick display emotion, and why was the Cyber Planner so eccentric? It's been established from Day 1 that the Cybermen are what eventually became of the humans of Mondas due to extensively replacing their body parts with mechanical substitutes to the point that there was nothing human left in them, the only reminder of their origin being in their shape and few remaining organic parts. They're supposed to be devoid of emotion and rely solely on logic and variables.

I wonder if the Cybermen will make an appearance in Series 10. The Daleks obviously will. But Cybermen? Not sure. Same with the Weeping Angels.
In the end, the opposite happened. No Dalek episode, but a Cyberman two part finale

I no doomsday is shared with daleks but the cybermen need more horror style like age of steel and doctor falls it suits them its the only way to make them terrifying where as the daleks suit war style

One of the most horrifying and instantly recognisable Cyberman quotes to me is "I did my duty for queen and country." Doomsday was horrifying.

Martin Studios The Doctor Falls technically answered that. The Doctor says that Cybermen are inevitable and will be created anywhere providing there is technology. The Moffat Cybermen just originated on a different world with different technology than the Cybus ones.
