I was gonna pay a Honda specialist that just did my clutch and synchros this week but looking at the video the job seems fairly easy to do awesome vid dude thanks 👍🏼
Looks so nice and clean on the undercarriage of the Civic (besides the melted on plastic and the little bit of grease at those rubber boots). Good job swapping out the arms.
Did you know you could've just use the jack and push up each side of the knuckle to preload and then just tighten it to torque spec while the jack is still on it
You got a Honda 8th gen civic manual ??? I just got one for my 8th gen. Dude I went through it real fast and a lot of good information in there. 👍 old timer at work told me about it, he heard me working on my car for street/track he said it was much needed
6:05 looks like that passenger side was replaced at some point, likely aftermarket- different bushing design completely. OEM is supposed to have the slots for reduced harshness, but definitely isn't supposed to tear out like that lol.
I bought some aftermarket cheap control arms and they tore within the first week. Terrible. Will be buying factory Honda arms when I have the guts to do the install again.
@@Rawrkee Hm. I wonder if I could raise it with a jack and save myself some time/a headache. I’m gonna put these same KTuned Control arms in my 8th gen soon
usually when I raise the knuckle, I raise it with the ball joints but since you need to disconnect the ball joints from the control arm, you'll probably have to do it on the rotor and I think the brake dust shield will be blocking the bottom portion of the rotor. You can try raising it on the outter portion of the rotor, the mating surface which has the wheel studs sticking out, just be very careful, use a thick rag in between the jack and rotor to minimize damaging anything. Good luck!
They dont make lca for my car so ill just buy the bushings. Should i go oem or aftermarket i found one from superpro but they only make the compliance bushing and not the other ones
I drive the civic like a grandpa so.. I can't tell too much of a difference hahaha but I did notice that the steering felt tightened up and I was able to get the alignment done :D
I just noticed, when the video starts, your car is up supported by jack stands, the lower control arm seems nicely aligned horizontally, but when i jack up my car, my lower control arm is being pushed down by the weight and shocks
@@Rawrkee thanks for the reponse, i am planning to do this replacement on mine and that was my only concern, that if i undo the sway bar links F.E that the sway bar was going to fling upwards and stay there since the only reason it was tilting down was cause of it being held down by the link to the lower control arm and me getting stuck unable to align it back up.but i heard you can also lift the suspension by placing jack under the ball joint with a block of wood and lifting it to align it
not at all, the mechanic did keep saying "you must've felt it while driving" and I'm thinkin to myself, nah bro, it freels normal to me 😂most of my driving is on the highway.

They're holding up great so far, I haven't had to grease them up again or anything, they're still riding the same as when I first installed them. Can't wait to slam the civic tho, the ride quality might be much worse when I do that hahah
@@Rawrkee im honestly surprised that the maxpeedingrods are holding up. some of their reviews have been so bad,, but then again im not sure if those ppl are being honest or just bashing maxpeedingrods.. which grease did you use to grease em up on the top mount?
@@McDzy I think it comes down to proper installation, double checking the preload, and greasing up those pillow ball joints. On top of that, just to be safe, make sure they’re brand new from the maxpeedingrods website. I don’t remember the grease I used, it was probably mobile1’s high temp grease. The important thing is that it’s high temp
There was no need for you to remove the ball joint if you were going to replace it 😅 which o would have replaced the alignment won't be straight if the ball joints are damaged like that
you just gotta make sure that the suspension has some weight on it before tightening down the bushings. Otherwise, you'll cause premature failure on the bushings due to it being twisted
@@BlahBlah-we6kx I’m looking at one of the install instructions on my Honda Prelude Helms Manual and it also says “Any bolts or nuts connected to rubber mounts or bushings should be tightened with the vehicle on the ground” Since I don’t have a lift, I just use a jack to raise everything up as if it were on the ground

Yeah man, just take your time, be sure to jack up the control arms before torquing the bolts and you'll be fine! Good luck with the install!
Bro your mechanical skills are getting better.

Don't forget to preload the suspension! And by the way it's not the hockey puck bushings that need to be preloaded, it's the rearward bushings.

Clean video man, I appreciate the effort. I needed this.
Please can you tell the specifications for the ball joint separator? Is it a 19mm?
Highly recommend getting an impact universal joint for that inner bolt hard to reach.

Did you really have to remove the ball joint for this? It looks like it could be left on
you can try without removing the ball joint, you'll just have to find a way to raise the knuckle assembly

I just noticed, when the video starts, your car is up supported by jack stands, the lower control arm seems nicely aligned horizontally, but when i jack up my car, my lower control arm is being pushed down by the weight and shocks
Well my car is lowered with coilovers. If you’re on stock suspension, that could be the reason or maybe just different brand coilovers

Will this control arms fit 9th gen
I don't think so, I've checked the ktuned website and didn't see any control arms for the 9th gen :/
How are those max speed rod coilovers working out for you? I’m thinking on buying some.
Would this fit a coupe?
I’m not sure, you can compare the part numbers on dreamshop.honda.com, just lookup the control arm for each one and see if they’re the dame
