    If you're doing it in the latest version, *set the resolution in Dyntopo to 0.5 instead of 6.* It is the new setting for low poly.

    • @michaos1
      @michaos1 5 років тому +34

      Believe me, I love jokes. Of course one or two can benefit a long complex tutorial. Every joke has its purpose though: to help remember smth or to cheer up when smth is too complex. However, most tutorial jokes are not funny (the Guru guy), don't help and even distract from a task. If i want jokes, i watch Louis CK. :) If I want Blender, I watch CG Geek. As simple as that!

    Have you used the rock generator add on for blender 2.8? one of the presets is Fake ocean. If you select this, leaving all sliders etc at their default values. it will generate a plane, displaced etc to resemble an ocean, going into wireframe you will see it is a very dense mesh, but if you apply all the modifiers that are on it. then add a disseminate modifier set to collapse with a value between 0.005 and 0.03, and then add a triangulate modifier. you will get quite a nice low poly ocean mesh. final thing to do is make sure shading is set to flat shading

    They probably updated these settings so under Dyntopo* He makes his resolution to 6. if you do that you will get different results, so the closest i came up with was 0.70 so try it out.

    If anyone has any issues with transporting to unity for use of something else let me give you a few tips. (This is just if you're using it in unity nothing else.)
    1. The lights don't act the same they will discolor everything a lot, you'll need to adjust them in unity.
    2. Anything using nodes will be harder to transfer and won't show up as their colors properly.
    3. Anything you have colored in a different way than just adding a material (like the bottom of the island he colors using a darker brown by selecting each face) will not work. It will just use the whatever material for the entire island. Make sure you set them as materials and not just colored in blender.
    4. Darker light in unity seems to resolve some material glitches for some reason.
    5. Making sure each material has names that are not similar will resolve confusion with the unity system.
    6. Unwrapping and baking materials may also help since all the materials condense down.
    I'll be adding more on this later so that way anyone who needs help with blender to unity can learn from this, but for now just do your best!

      I'm in this train too. Getting back to 3d graphics after 10 years, when i played with 3dsmax. This looks actually a lot better than a current beast from Autodesk. They have to stick with the original bad UI to retain users (and please shareholders), while Blender can cardinally change UI and shortcuts for the most optimal way and gain millions of new users and supporters. Blender is striving, it's so good to know.

    I discovered that if you scale up the icosphere, the resolution likewise goes up, so you need to use a 60 resolution brush instead of a 6. Don't know if that's a feature or a bug.
    Edit: Found out this is supposed to be that way if you scale in object mode. If you scale it in edit mode, the internal resolution stays the same. However that means a resolution of 6 is super fine? So I have no idea why that works differently in the video.

    • @Chud37

      Thanx, had the same problem/feature/bug. The behaviour is strange. Starting from edit or object mode made no difference.
