Just stumbled on this as I was trying to find recipes for meal prep! Laura your saved the day again! Thanks for all your help and hard work in bringing us your beautiful creations❤
I made this tonight without mint as I couldn’t find any. Also I added chopped orange bell pepper to the meatballs. The meatballs turned out great they were very fresh tasting. The sauce was ok but not the best one I’ve had. Over all it was very delicious
I grew up with neighbors from a Greek island so I learned lots about Greek food..the tzaziki sauce is the way they made it..cucumber garlic dill lemon yogurt sometimes a bit of tahini olive oil on top so it must be authentic. The meatballs had I think a dash of Cinnamon in them or some spice like that...this meal looks like a winner and on my weekly menu ..love this channel...great job and thank you!!!
Ooooooh Laura! I grew up in a 1/2 Italian 1/2 Greek family. You did us proud with this Keftedes recipe. These meatballs were a childhood comfort food and bring back amazing memories. Thank you. PS... so glad you had a magical visit with your wonderful Nonna. Oh how I adored the pic you posted of her relaxing her feet on the outdoor ottoman--precious moments.
Yes the ancient Greek gods looked down upon the humans and did bestow food gifts when they were feeling it - this dish & a large jug of grappa - 3000 years later we still LOVE this dish
There maybe a lot of variations to suit anyone's taste but the traditional Greek Meatballs mixture is as above but also add 1 egg, bit of oil, and a bit of wet bread. This will make the meatballs softer when eating. No dill is used in this dish. Frying after coating them with flour. From the herbs the prominent aroma should be mint, so use more than the other herbs.
Hi Laura please can you show a mushroom risotto recipe and also tips on how we can cook get optimum results if there is a gap between cooking and serving time. I have a party and wanted to prepare the risotto ahead of time so I can host- thanks
Oooof I'm going to make this with ground Turkey. I can't eat beef because it makes me I'll and I make a delicious couscous with cherry tomatoes, lemon and feta so I have another recipe idea. Thanks girl!
These meatballs are called Kafta in Lebanon. I didn’t know Greece claimed them 😂 In Lebanon we also spread the meat mixture in a pan, top it with potatoes, onions and slices of tomatoes and bake them with tomato sauce on top
I made this for dinner but used a mixture of lamb and beef for meatballs and added red bell pepper to my salad and made yellow rice. Delicious and fresh
I personally love cooking in a cast iron pan. Gives great crust on meats and can finish off in the oven if you need to. Obviously not with meatballs :)
In greece we also put 1 egg, breadcrumbs and olive oil. And then we fry them in a pot with olive oil (a lot) or we put them in the oven. But the breadcrumbs and the egg make the difference! Try it!💓 P.s. keftedakia with fried potatoes of course
If anyone wants to come back to you in argument of what is 'authentic', IGNORE! There is no such thing. Each part of Greece has different ways, different thoughts, different customs, ... from one suburb to the next & from one island to the next. Combine that with a time frame; what was a Greek meatball now days? 20 years ago? 100 years ago? 500 years ago or even older? Intermingle that with migrations or invasions over the millennia... EVERYTHING changes! You're right... it's about what suits & what tastes good!
That looks good! You just kicked me um...to the delish zone! Always ready to taste new dishes! Yummy, yum! Waving to you from south Georgia-land of best Peaches, boiled Peanuts, & Vidalia onions! 🥘🍲🌭🌮🍕🍟🍿🥗🦐🍝🍠☕🗽🚑🚒🚓

@@pattydonna8549 this specific recipe Laura has shared has no pork and no milk. I like Greek food as well but this recipe is identical Turkish Kofte meatballs. If you search Swedish meatballs are also very similar to Turkish kofte meatballs but Sweden admits they took the recipe from Turks.
@@emmanlss you’re clearly one of his supporters. At the very least, Biden could suspend the federal gas tax temporarily, start increasing oil production and lower gas prices. Much of any food is expensive is because of the increase in transportation cost. So a world problem? There’s things he can do here at home to help. The good news is his party is going to feel it in November.

Hey Laura! 💗
Oooof I'm going to make this with ground Turkey. I can't eat beef because it makes me I'll and I make a delicious couscous with cherry tomatoes, lemon and feta so I have another recipe idea. Thanks girl!
Definitely want to try this but with lamb.
Wonderful work in every sense of the word. I offer you my admiration and greetings. I wish you a happy day my friends Greetings to you 👍👏❤⚘
What kind of rice did you use?
These meatballs are called Kafta in Lebanon. I didn’t know Greece claimed them 😂 In Lebanon we also spread the meat mixture in a pan, top it with potatoes, onions and slices of tomatoes and bake them with tomato sauce on top

I don't have a non stick.. What would you suggested??
I personally love cooking in a cast iron pan. Gives great crust on meats and can finish off in the oven if you need to. Obviously not with meatballs :)
Tip: Try to wring the cucumber in a towel to avoid all the water or just squeeze it with your hands.
Nice recipe!
You are making me hungry. My stomach started growling watching you eat that food.
I make this bowl with chicken meatballs and it sure is phenomenal 😋
These would also be delicious made with ground lamb and some crumbled feta thrown in for good measure.
half ground beef and half ground lamb! plus, like you said, feta!
Yum
This is so up my alley! And in this case, I would probably prefer a flatbread rather than rice, but would still want my carbs 😆
In greece we also put 1 egg, breadcrumbs and olive oil. And then we fry them in a pot with olive oil (a lot) or we put them in the oven.
But the breadcrumbs and the egg make the difference! Try it!💓
P.s. keftedakia with fried potatoes of course
.👀👍
Can I substitute Fennel leaves for Dill? Thanks 😊
Yummy ♥️♥️🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦👍👍👍👍👍👍👍hi Laura from montreal….love u

AREN'T GREEK MEATBALLS MADE OF LAMB?
They can be made with beef, lamb, or a mix of both.
Are you sure those are Greek Meatballs? Because this the EXACT recipe for Turkish Köfte Meatballs.
Greek recipe calls for ground pork or lamb with ground beef and stale bread soaked in milk. Absolutely delicious and divine!!

Where did your iconic intro go?
Oh so I see it’s only important to be authentic if the dish is Italian
Looks great but this Biden inflation just makes it so expensive to make meals like those these days!
You realize that it is the entire world, just just because of Biden right?

"What I call Greek meatballs." Όχι ρε! Σταματά.
TASTE towers above "authenticity" and *everything* else!
