I just went to a offer holder day at Queen Mary and the students were saying that 1st year is very similar to A level psychology and according to them it is 'easy' to get a first, was this the same for you at Kings?
@@getshrekd_7825 I'm currently in first year so take that into account when hearing my opinions, but I have found that to be a similar experience, yeah. I'd say first term (especially research methods) has/builds on a lot of stuff you do at A level (I did Psychology and Sociology A levels). I'd say it's entirely feasible to get a first, so far my grades have been strong 2:1s and firsts and I know I'm not the only one with this experience. Some modules are harder than others, though this depends entirely on your strengths as an individual (e.g. there's a Brain module heavy on biology, a Society module which is ovs Social Psychology etc.). The Psych course at King's is still relatively new (I believe my cohort is only the 4th or 5th year of undergrads), but I've found this to be a really good thing as the content is very very relevant (e.g. we have a module called "addressing problems" where you have to apply your psychology knowledge to real world scenarios - we've had Homelessness and Knife crime), so you can imagine it's a very practical course for the real world. I’m a bit worried about central london living as I’m from a lower income family up north, I just wondered whether you know anyone from a similar background at Kings and whether you think the cost is manageable? Sorry for the spam and it being a slightly odd question but yeah :)
•••• Tommy •••• Hi!! I’m actually a low income student myself, so I can speak from experience. It’s definitely manageable, 100%. I assume you’ll get max loan amount and I can’t speak for UCL but King’s has a bursary which is automatically granted to low income students, so I get £1.6k a year from the uni to help with living/course costs etc. I’m willing to say more but if you could somehow PM me (idk if you can do that on youtube?) i can give more info and advice, just don’t want to reveal everything about myself on YT.
I’ve heard lse is quite good, but the environment is a bit stressful( like most unis I guess). Not entirely sure but I personally think either lse, kcl or Warwick :)

King's was my dream school and I realized that after covid they literally messed it up, especially with my pathway (bio&chem). Our bio teacher didn't show up for 7 weeks and we did every class online and it was just not worth it. I learned that specifically my pathway is not connected to foundations but somewhere we don't know? Also the exam dates, submission dates everything was all over the place. its quite funny how as an english student at kcl right now i definitley cannot relate to the social people and the vibe aspect of this video as the english degree is saturated with white, middle class people...

If I am a second year medical student studying in an algerien university for which kind of courses should i apply is it undergraduate or postgraduate course please?
Can I ask how your parents let you move out? I live quite close to london, so commuting by underground wouldn’t be an issue, but I think having an accommodation may be easier, I don’t think my parents will let me tho.
Hi Dr Amina! I am planning to apply for a Msc in Clinical Neurodevelopmental sciences at KCL and I dunno if you have tips for international students doing their postgrad there, although I did learn substantial tips from this video. Thanks in advance
I go to this Univerisity and do Biomed, but all my lecturers are really good and informative and so happy to help. They're also easy to reach for help too. Maybe this has changed since you've been?
Kaynath S possibly. I mean they gave the information but I didn’t feel connected with the lecturers and like I said, they’re not hired to be lecturers so there is that issue that universities have proposed to change for 2020.
I agree that three quality of lectures was especially rubbish and disappointing in first year. They were totally rushed and only there for the sake of it because they had to. But in second year onwards it got much much better as the lectures were more invested in teaching 2nd and 3rd years than first years.
@@niveditaarmugam4901 what course are you studying at kcl? also when you say the quality of lectures.. what do you mean? I really wanna know cuz i got an offer at kcl for this year
I had the most horrible experience at King's doing a postgrad degree in psych. It was most likely due to lecturers being researchers first and foremost. That being said, this does not apply to everyone. Essentially what happened was that I suffered bereavement (lost my dog, watched my neighbour die in an accident , and two weeks later my grandmother who I lived with and raised me suddenly died ... with me witnessing it and trying to save her). This was when the pandemic kicked off. I subsequently lost my home (my grandmother's house), as it was getting sold by my uncle. She hadn't written her last will. Needless to say,I was not in a good place. I did get an extension granted officially for my coursework, but my supervisor implied to me that she didn't believe me. She didn't get back to me for 5 weeks and when she finally agreed to a meeting, she shouted at me for taking so long and made me feel horrible throughout the entire meeting. I knew that she was not the nicest person going into it, as she made it very clear from the start that she was extremely strict. She did stuff like emailing at 9pm to call you in for 8am the next day and making students cry. The way she treated me made me feel worthless, stupid and non-deserving of a degree. I graduated with distinction from both my high school and my undergrad, next to volunteering and working two jobs at a time, so it's obviously not true. After this I developed full-blown major depression with PTSD symptoms, almost got hospitalized and wanted to end my life. Luckily, I was able to get help and I am now at a different Uni, performing at distinction level and being appreciated l by my lecturers, who I have kick-started projects with and got funding for.
oh and btw now having the direct comparison the level of education and difficulty at King's is laughable, compared to European unis. Rankings don't really mean anything ...
I'm really , really black . Should I walk around the place with a really , really black T shirt .. in case people don't notice , I'm really , really black ? What do you think ?
i 4hink she said hOP scientist lol instead of Top. I probably will try doing proper lecturing afte rmy phd .I like reserach but i hate lab work. I want to tell someome to do it for me while i come up with ideas.

I learned that specifically my pathway is not connected to foundations but somewhere we don't know? Also the exam dates, submission dates everything was all over the place. Now I am literally at the point of failure because the pathway was fully all over the place and our teachers changed bla bla. But everybody has a different experience so I would say you should talk with other people too :)
@@ilgnkoc3020 heyy, thank you sooooo much . Kings was my dream school as well and I can only imagine how heartbreaking it was for an education system we regard so highly to disappoint you like thiis, Im so sorry, I wonder what excuse they had for that. the only thing that drew me towards kings was literally just that, kings- not London which really just doesnt seem student friendly with the lack of community and all ,and most definitely not the London prices. I have been asking alot and with each different persons experience, I get more comfortable and confident with firming Manchester.
I would really love to hear more about your experience as an International student in london and kings.
@@hlomphoprincess3573 I would love to tell you about my experience. I will write back to you when I have time :))
Thank you very much for this video - very helpful.
I want to do a Physiotherapy degree and have a choice between South Bank Uni or Kings - what would you recommend? Is it possible that Kings will be 'harder' than South Banks?
hey did you end up choosing, i want to study physiotherapy at kings too
@@jasmyfan We went to South Bank. It's ok. Nothing special.
But if you've got an offer from Kings, take it. Kings College has a lot more clout on the Resume.
I'M SO SCARED NOW, OMGGG!!!!!!! HOW WILL I SURVIVE ACADEMICALLY WITH ZOOMED IN IMAGES OF TEXTBOOK PAGES FOR LECTURES?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!
Can relate! I plan to take my master degree in King's.
its quite funny how as an english student at kcl right now i definitley cannot relate to the social people and the vibe aspect of this video as the english degree is saturated with white, middle class people...
OMG I’m going to start an English degree at Kings! Is that true ?
@@haleema1616 definitely true
@@moonsmum6420 i've started and can see what you mean, but it's actually more diverse than i thought it would be?
what about law??
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL
Thankful for this video, just a little worried about the teachers now...I will be at KCL for biomedical engineering in a few weeks.
Its nothing like that... I am 2nd year BME student here and we have great lectures. Especially Dr. Khawal who will likely also be one of your main professors this year.
thanks for this video!! very informative
Hey girl plz do ucl because I wanted to apply there. Bless your soul sis
Thanks for the video bt i have question about the collage so how can i communicate with you pls
I really did like your video as it’s so much helpful and I was looking for these informations specifically. Im having some questions would you please help me 🙃
UK rankings do not capture prestige well of universities.
Zoomed in image of a textbook page? Give me hope before ...!!!
Please do a video for Imperial!
hey there! I have received an offer for philosophy, but what Ive read bout it so far was quite demotivating... do you happen to know anything about the quality of the lectures? the topics, how they are structured etc. That'd be very helpful! Mant Thanks x
hey, I’m considering applying to King’s for philosophy for 2021 entry...I’m intrigued to know what you found that was negative about it?
I find it shocking that kings have people who aren’t professional lectures, deliver the classes.
Amina I think you forgot to put the link about the uni rankings in the description
DONE!
Hi, you're link no longer works for the uni list
If I am a second year medical student studying in an algerien university for which kind of courses should i apply is it undergraduate or postgraduate course please?
Masha Allah Good information
Go back to shit hole country.
Morgan The No.
Can I ask how your parents let you move out? I live quite close to london, so commuting by underground wouldn’t be an issue, but I think having an accommodation may be easier, I don’t think my parents will let me tho.
the truth is you can't HANDLE the truth
Hi Dr Amina!
I am planning to apply for a Msc in Clinical Neurodevelopmental sciences at KCL and I dunno if you have tips for international students doing their postgrad there, although I did learn substantial tips from this video.
Thanks in advance
are the king's residences catered like the inter collegiate halls??
I need to study phd in London Kings college I need talk to you please
I feel like you need to even the playing field here and give your honest account of both Imperial and UCL?
Where did you get your shirt?
Rankings don't really mean anything ...
hello, if i wanted to resit year 12, would kings college accept me?
So helpful knowing this about King's!
Great video, can you do a UCL one as well?
Where is your book shelf from please?
