That’s such a lovely comment! Well done in getting in and getting the results 🎉 I’m sure you’re gonna have an amazing time!! Cannot wait to see you around 💛
This video is so useful for any KCL freshers, I wish there was one last year haha (I'm a 2nd year student at KCL) and I do agree that King's makes Welcome week/ freshers week so accessible through the Welcome App! Also to any freshers I can't emphasise this enough: Go to as many events you possibly can! It's truly a great way to meet new people who may end up being your friends during your time at King's. I met a few of my friends during Welcome week and it really makes it less nerve racking in terms of settling into university life!
your videos have been so incredibly helpful, and the heads-up about Farrah's talk is invaluable (I had no idea)! I move into halls next week and I am so excited to begin at King's, thank you so much for your insight!
That’s my pleasure! I’m glad I could help and that’s so cool! I’ll definitely see you around Apolline! It would be great to catch a coffee or cake something cute sometime xoxo 🍰 ☕️
@@meiyingchow You too !! I'm so glad you made this video as I'd done all the basic things on the app, but I hadn't realised that there was so much more on there and other events. I still don't really understand how the KCLSU works, like how exactly do we join societies in the first week? Thank you so much for all your help!!!
During freshers events, stalls will have iPads and computers where you’ll sign up with your kings email and you’ll be automatically joined to their mailing list. From there you can go to their welcome events and then pay the registration fee on the KCLSU website by adding the membership to your basket(most societies do charge) and then you’re good to go!
Hey Amanda! That’s so exciting!! I wish you the best of luck with your application. A handful of my friends here are from France and they’re all really enjoying it - the Eurostar is a bit of a saviour! Have a lovely day 💜
Thank you sooo much for making this video! Really helpful info and tips. I will be doing my PG at KCL this year and I am looking forward to my course!!!
for a second there I started to regret putting King’s as only my insurance, because clearly it is much better at communicating with students than LSE (where I actually go starting this September) 😂
Hi! Thank you for your video, coming to KCL in one week :)) Do u know if there are still chances for going to one of the Linkedln events, despite the fact that there are no places available on the Welcome App???
Good luck with your move in! I’m glad you found the video helpful - you could try contacting the careers office as they’re the ones who organise the LinkedIn headshot sessions. It’s definitely worth asking 🤞🏻
Hello! Thank you for this awesome video it really helped me sort out some things. I would like to ask if you could provide more info about the Fresher's Fair? Perhaps a link or something like that. I would love to attend it!
I googled but can’t seem to find a link! There isn’t a stall layout yet as it’s first come first serve for societies who turn up but there are often groups - like languages will generally be together and sports etc - as that was the case last year!
Dude same shit, turning 18 in November, they completely fuck us up, especially with accommodation, I don't know if you heard but you are forced to stay on kings accommodation with extra restrictions and greater vigilance, pain in the ass.
Hi, I'm going to KCL this September. Did you ever go to the Live at Home Pizza Meet and Greet ? Do you know anyone who did and what it was like ? I don't know anyone else going to Kings or living at home.
Hello, what kind of freshers event do you think is best for meeting people? I feel like a lot of people go to clubs but clubs are not the best place to meet people as you can’t really talk to them. I still don’t have a wristband but I’m a bit clueless about what to do. This will be my first year at King’s. I would love to take your advise :)
I would certainly say go to your course events - like the post induction meetings with free drinks and food, any of the clubs or societies that you’re interested in is also a good start as you’ll meet similar people to you that way!
Thank you so much, this video really helped a lot. I’m starting my first year in Kings for Bsc Economics. I’m not really the type who enjoys parties, if I don’t attend a lot of the fresher nightclub events is that fine? Also I wanted to ask, if my course is in both the business school and the department of political economy, does that mean the induction events in business school are compulsory for me too? sorry too many questions 😅 thank you again
Hey Ali, you should only be seeing an induction for the one run by Political Economy, as that's the "home" for that programme, and that's primarily the induction you should go to.
It’s also definitely alright if you don’t go to nightclubs - as you can see there are so many events running for you to meet other students and you’ll meet people on your course and in your accommodation too!
Do you think it is easy to transfer your course from international management to business management? One of my friend said it is possible to make changes in the induction week.
Yes it’s possible! My friend poppy swapped from economics to econ & management within induction week and it was all okay! It took a bit of time for the tutorials to update and to issue a new card but it’s possible for sure 💕
I must admit I don’t know much about studying a phd in London as I haven’t had that experience or have any friends who have. I’ll see if I can find some info however - it might be useful checking out the degree page online!
Mam can any international student apply for NHS LSF? I want to take admission in Masters in Dietitics in Kings College London, please grant me a way how can I apply for this scholarship?
Hi, you should only attend the induction of your own programme. It's a great opportunity to make friends with those you'll be studying with, and the inductions are tailored to the courses you'll be taking, including staff contacts, etc. There's also space limitations and so the inductions are planned around the idea there might only be 200 students in a course and not extras.
I hope you all find this video helpful and don't forget to check the description for time stamps! If you have any more questions do leave them in the comments and I'll try to reply to them all. I wish you all the best with starting uni this year and have a great time!
