I just watched a clip of "Ramblin' Man" from 1972 at Hofstra University and a guy commented on the quality of Dickey's voice.....I agree, I love it, very underrated vocalist
I love this groovy version of the song, the original is beautiful as well, but this one just makes me jump from the chair and start dancing, with my cat.
this video contains one of my all time favorite moments in live music...there’s a moment in here when Dan is so amazed by Dickie that he just smiles...doesn’t get better than this.
RIP the five members of The Allman Brothers Band Dickey Betts (December 12, 1943 - April 18, 2024), aged 80 Duane Allman (November 20, 1946 - October 29, 1971), aged 24 Butch Trucks (May 11, 1947 - January 24, 2017), aged 69 Gregg Allman (December 8, 1947 - May 27, 2017), aged 69 Berry Oakley (April 4, 1948 - November 11, 1972), aged 24 You will be remembered as legends
I was lucky enough I shooked his hand .... and had the opportunities to see him several times... first time the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND in Hamburg, CCH 24.9.1980... he wrote so many great songs! R.I.P. Dickey Betts
What a great place for an ABB concert! I spent 7 glorious years there. Sorry, I wasn't there for this. I did see them in the park on a Sunday evening with Derek Trucks & Warren Haynes. Heavenly!😎
Love this performance, rest easy now Dickey Betts and thanks for the music of a lifetime!,,,🤍🤍🤍 My older youngest brother Richard, was nicknamed Dickey too, when we were young kids growing up ahh sweet memories all around. Peace.
If you grew up in Florida, you know the love & appreciation ABB has for us. Nothing quite like Eat A Peach in the hot sticky southern sun. Rest in Peace Dickey. The world shines a little less bright without you
You have excellent taste in music. Check out the Blue Sky from SUNY Sunnybrook New York 9/91/ 71 that was recorded mere weeks before Duane's death. It is absolutely beautiful, Allman Brothers at their finest. Cheers
Got a gold top Gibson Sekova (Les Copy) that Granddad left me when he went to see Jesus in '86. 🥹 It's cool to see "your guitar" being played by one of the best pickers!😄👍
Awesome! Just about the time I discovered the ABB. Hey, I think that is a very young Susan Tedeschi on backing vocals! There is only one voice like hers! Wow!
Your kidding, right...? This is very poorly done compaired to the original... rushed, unnecessary backgound vocals, very limited soloing , canned solos and arrangement, the piano is rushed and perfunctory. This was done just before they broke up (again). Mailing it in.
@@tebo1958 I’m very aware this was right before another breakup because I’ve been following ABB since ‘72! I’m just saying that Keith & Bonnie did very well as backup and Mike (a follower of Chuck Leavell) did a great job on piano during this live version.
@@guitarocd9984 Can't go wrong w/ZZtop. We used to cover some of his stuff. I played Rusty's bass lines. My partner {formally with Bob Segar) played lead guitar. Billy is just too much for lil ole me.
Yeah Dickie was the vocal star of the Allman Brothers almost as often as Greg Allman was 😊😅😮and he was the instrumental star 🌟 most of the time 😊😅😮😢😂❤😂😊❤😊❤😊
Rest easy, Dickie! Thanks for the music!🎸🔥🙏
Not enough is said about Dicky Betts vocal. He is one smooth southern drink of country blues.

Yes, the solo is amazing as usual. But I watched keyboardist Mike Lawler leading them into it at 1:35 around 10 times in a row. Just perfection!
