      They can be very handy. I don't use all the functions in my meters either but coil resistance testing can really dig down and find a problem. If you can't find the required specs for a coil see if you can compare to a new one. That will tell you its health. Be well!

      Thanks, Doug! It is so good to have confirmed that the old coil was defective. Sometimes a coil issue can be hard to pinpoint. The hat I normally only wear when driving my Lamborghini or Rolls Royce, but I wore it today in the old F-150 and it felt fine.

    Love the hat but you don’t see many like it in Ford F-150s in Oklahoma! I’d love to retire to Victoria. Making my decision in November, post election and while I still have the autonomy to make such decisions.

      Victoria BC is a lovely city-only about 350,000 but lots of parks and green space. And the climate is really mild all year. Lots to do there too with the ocean and gulf islands of Canada and USA really close., plus wilderness all up through the island. Enjoy!

    Hey how we doing, so I have a ford Taurus 2006 just replaced the spark plugs, spark wires and got a coil pack from the junk yard and I tested both old and scrap coil pack and my pins are both running 1.3 Ohms but on the scrapped one I have higher resistance than the old one but all the numbers are still below 11.5 only issue I could see with the scrapped one is a crack between 5 and 6 and this scrap one was running the car fine but then came back from a road trip now I’m losing power with code error p0352 so you think just getting a new one should hopeful solve this issues or what do you think? Also great video keep posting more like these!

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects  10 місяців тому +1

      Better safe than sorry. If you can afford it, just buy a new coil pack. A crack of any kind will allow moisture inside and will cause problems. Even coils with hair-line cracks should be tossed (even though they may work well for a while). Best to eliminate any doubt. Try to get a name-Brand coil like Motorcraft, Delphi, Blue streak, etc. There are so many really cheap coil packs online that are just junk. In fact, I had ordered a $25 one from Amazon for this truck and it set a code immediately and would only run when cold. Once hot, after 5 minutes driving, it would set a code and run poorly. The Delphi brand is more expensive but it works flawlessly. Try Rockauto.com they have great prices and ship fast. Good luck. Let me know how your repair goes.

      Thanks, Joseph. This coil gave me considerable trouble. I tested it several months ago and it was borderline so I thought it wasn't the problem, but given a few more months it deteriorated. Best to just swap out a coil for a known good one if in doubt. Lesson learned. I am enjoying my hat. Thanks for the comment.

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects  4 місяці тому

      @@Kro_man_tx these coil packs are all very similar. Look up your specific coil pack online and there may be a testing procedure that’ll lay out the steps and provide the resistance readings you want.

      @@EverydayProjects I have not had any luck finding the test procedure for a coil pack from a 2006 KIA Sportage 2.7 liter V6. I came across your video searching for generic testing techniques for a coil pack.

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects  4 місяці тому

      @@Kro_man_tx I took a look online, just now and had a difficult time finding the exact testing specs for your coil. I did find them in my Haynes Manual for my F-150 when I made the video. They have a Haynes manual for you car and it would probably be worth your while to buy one. Most auto parts stores will have them and if not, Rockauto.com sell the exact one you'll need. Here's that link:www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/kia,2007,sportage,2.7l+v6,1434903,literature,repair+manual,10335

      @EverydayProjects - thanks. Really just trying to chase down this one issue so we can sell this car. I don't want to spend money on manuals. I don't like firing the parts cannon, but I went ahead and ordered a coil pack, they are reasonably priced even right from Hyundai/Kia. I suspect it has gone bad because the plugs and wires were replaced less than 30k ago.

    Are u two terminals at different times

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects  18 днів тому

      The testing uses the same procedure throughout. The primary winding has the positive terminal towards the rear of the engine. Touching that terminal with one lead then moving the second lead to the other terminals gives a reading for each. Sometimes, I'll watch a video several times to get all the information. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    What was the trouble with how the engine was working. Was it missing on both of those cylinders. Nice mountains there in the back ground. Is that an island where you showed the first mountain. Hat ? What hat ????
    🤭 nice hat 👋👋👍🏻👍🏻

    • @EverydayProjects
      @EverydayProjects  10 місяців тому +1

      It was a misfire / stumble condition under heavy load that did not set a trouble code. The engine would run well but stumble on acceleration or when going up a steep hill. I changed the plugs to top of the line iridium and Bosch wires, cleaned the fuel injectors, tested fuel pressure and changed the fuel filter, started running premium fuel too... No change. Then I changed the E.G.R. valve, and changed the lower intake manifold isolation grommets! Still, the condition persisted. I was running out of options! I then changed the throttle position sensor too, but nothing fixed it. Compression tests proved strong 175 PSI + per cylinder, and there were no vacuum leaks discovered. The coil was the issue! Finally found it.

    How's she goin'? First off, I like the hat! We spent some time in France many years ago and they called hats like that Casquettes!! So yeah I like the casquette!! But did you notice it's feminine? Just sayin'!! Nice job replacing the coil pack and that was a good test for it too. Those Haynes Manuals were pretty popular eh. I think everyone had at least one of them for some old car they had and were trying to keep it running on a dime. BTW, I like your casquette!! BC sure does have some scenic views, even in the rain. I'm not too sure I could take all that rain though. At least here we get a break from the rain and are buried under snow!! LOL That casquette is some smart looking. I see the skip on it covers your nose and keeps the rain off it!! Pretty handy since you live in BC!! LOL Take care!!

      I plan on modelling a full outfit at the end of a series of videos. There will be mechanical things in the video followed by an article of clothing modelled near the end. This hat began the series. I'll understand if you wish to skip episodes 11 and 12 when I model boxer shorts and long johns. Yes, the rain...it's pretty much all I can handle most years but the shovelling is minimal. I enjoy the casquette whether it's for girls or not. A rough, Marlboro man like me has enough solid good looks that a girly hat doesn't distract the viewers too much. Cheers!
