If my math is correct, you are burning around 3.8 gallons of fuel for every mile traveled. If that is true, I would have your engines inspected. Additionally, I noticed you were refueling which underway. I would have been concerned about contamination in the fuel tank given the water spray. The last point I wanted to make regarding your fuel burn. It appears you spent over $3K to make that crossing. That is a lot of dough to spend on such a short trip. Despite all of that, I was happy you all created the video. All of you appeared relaxed and happy, in the end, this is what life should be like for everyone.
From what I have briefly checked, the SR 55 has 700 gallon tank. At .3 mpg, that is 210 miles, plenty far for 170 mile trip (as it seems to me). Did you get less than .3 mpg? It did look like you were going way over 20 knots for some of the trip, did you cruise at an unusually high speed which reduced your range? I hope my questions about weight, speed and fuel efficiency make sense. Thanks.
They were going too fast. About 10 years ago I crewed on a Fleming 55 and we crossed the GOM at 1.3 mile per gallon. Whe were going about 9 miles per hour or 200 miles per day. 1,200 miles in under 6 days from Corpus Christi to Miami. We had enough fuel left to make it a round trip if we had wanted to.
Thanks for sharing your journey! We are a bit flummoxed concerning fuel consumption, if we understood correctly this was under 200 miles, how much fuel do you consume per mile, and what is the built in fuel capacity? Thanks again David
@@theadventuresofbrandonpeav3992 Thanks for the response….. 30 hrs of good hard running… glad your vessel held up well for you to all have a safe trip🙏AMEN TO THAT YA AAL😉👍
Would love to do it in a sailboat and see how cheaply it can be done and how much more you can explore and see in the amount of time it would take to complete the voyage
You made a awesome video we are thinking about traveling ourselves by boat sometime in the year 2023

I just came here to comment. They hauled ass from the looks of it.
I think that figure you gave is probably at its most efficient cruise speed.

I did that same trip last year in my sailboat last year solo. First time even offshore. Only used 25 gallons of diesel.
That’s awesome! Would love to do that voyage one day. Be a lot more quite I’m sure
Looks like a fun time! Glad you all made it safe!
That boat should be getting. 08 mpg
What system did you use to fuel enroute? Where drums plumbed to the engine or fuel tanks?
You stated Gas not diesel in those drums. I then can assume that your boat is Gas and not a diesel engine,, is that correct ?

170miles per 650 gallons = 0.26 miles/gallon
Drums full of agricultural diesel. 🤣🤣🤣 hell yea.
I assume that you are using diesel. And at those speeds. Wow. You went trough a lot of fuel.
A pretty Penny for sure
Very cool 🤙
That's risky doing that on a Sea Ray..especially an older one. Any moisture in those stringers?
How do think the hundreds of loopers do it every year. Magic carpet?
@@SOLDOZER just not in a Sea Ray. Maybe a Hatteras? Bertram? Safe. Sea worthy
@@bertram46 You just wait for a weather window. I did it in a 27' sailboat. Not a big deal.
That was a great video…. Seems like a lot of fuel for that trip…. Well home and safe ….. how many total hrs was it???
About 30 hours from fort pierce through the inner coastal waterway all the way to st marks

I guess this is what happens when you have a lot more money than time. I would have slowed way down. And spent much less on fuel.
Work on Monday lol

B Bust O Out A Another T Thousand BOAT
All of that gas like that can't be safe at all.
Used every sip of it to make it from John’s pass to st marks river entrance too
@@theadventuresofbrandonpeav3992 wow, whats the range and nMPG at conservative/economical speeds for this boat?
650 gal,,, for 170 mile trip??? fu!!!!!!
3.8 gallons a mile???? I would burn that boat to the water line and let the fish have the rest.
Lol good thing it isn’t your boat
lol
next time skip the music,
Boaring come on
across the Gulf? you skimmed a corner. Gas cost: ?????????????. Get a sail.
