Now you're left with the decision of playing the hard way after you spent money on the game, or to buy another pay to progress bundle that allows you to get a little further easily before the game becomes hard again. As you can see, it becomes a never ending cycle. That pay to progress cycle is really noticeable in gacha games where you can earn in game currency the hard way by playing to "possibly" get strong characters to make the game easier or to buy *tons* of in game currency to increase your chances of "possibly" getting the new strong characters...which will eventually be overshadowed by better characters in the near future.
The current situation on mobile reminds me alot of the situation the entire industry was in before the video game crash. A market thats over saturated with bad games, that are all carbon copies of each other. Eventually mobile players are going to get tired of this crap, and the mobile side of the industry will crash. And maybe Nintendo will come along to breathe life back into it again? Hopefully.
Well like the video says, most mobile games are made for non-gamers and in my experince thats mostly parent and the generation before gaming become "cool". So whether mobile developers like it or not their target audience will eventually dissapear and be replaced by a generation that is mastering tech before they become teens, and if every gamer makes sure to show the little gamers pf the world what a real game should be, we should be able to havk through these carbon copy zombies and deliver the cure that will resurrect mobile gaming.

I think why there is so many copycat games on mobile might have something to do with it being much easier to make them on mobile. so just about anybody with programming knowledge can make a game for mobile.

For instance, Unity is used on all platforms - including current gen consoles. It's a fairly easy way to make games, too. The difference is in expectation. There is one Original Smartphone game which i enjoyed and that was Pokemon Go i liked the more or less "real life MMORPG" feel of it. the other games i kinda enjoy on Smartphone are Ports of PC/Console games or kinda the same Emulators. But the touch controll make it not as enjoyable.

N.O.V.A 3, Ravensword: Shadowlands, the Infinity Blade trilogy, Modern combat 3 and 4 (stay away from modern combat 5, it is crap), Implosion: never lose hope, Wildblood, and Chaos Rings 3 (unfortunately Square Enix decided to be a dick and remove the earlier games).
If you want some good games then try; Exploding Kittens, Battle for Polytopia, and Shattered Pixel dungeon. In about 5 years of looking for good mobile games that's all I've got for you. 3 games, a card game, a strategy game, and a roguelike.
Eternium mages and minions is a great RPG for mobile.... It has a very decent linear gameplay which will make you remind of old Diablo games.. Despite it has micro transactions, you never need to buy anything.... You only need to progress in the Acts or Levels through the story mode to upgrade your chosen character.......

There's a base of mobile gamers that demand new, fun and creative gaming experiences on mobile but as you laid it out, they/We are overshadowed by the gen pop but I disagree with what you said about things remaining how they are, if you compare mobile games now to a decade ago, "Non sleazy" games are gaining ground with games such as Monument Valley, Lara Croft GO, The Room, Lost Within, Til Morning's Light and Chaos Rings 3 to name a few so in my opinion, as mobile devices get more powerful and more affordable and it's bound to be the case, it's going to shift!

Hey Alto's adventure! At 6:30.. Beautiful game that, even has a zen and camera mode. No pay to win... Just art! If you have high stress levels or need to relax it's also worth a try... I've unlocked most of the characters, worth the time.... It gets difficult though XD

RafaGamer67- I agree. I used to love Angry Birds when it came out. After 2014, everything started to go downhill. It's now ripping off other mobile games to pander to the Angry Bird fan demographic. Not only that, but it also has alot of microtransactions in their recent games, which is very ridiculous. Candy Crush and all other King "Saga's" have an in-game currency that can ONLY be earned through paying, and ONLY paying, REAL MONEY. No amount of gameplay can generate even 1 gold bar, yet 1 gold bar can buy you _nothing_ in those games. I remember KSI's rant about FUT coins in EA SPORTS™ FIFA. 1 online match that lasted 20 minutes earns you a measly 450 coins, and the players prices (to trade) can range from 10000 coins for a mediocre player, up to _9300000_ coins for Ronaldo and Messi. Thought this was bad enough, then King with Candy Crush $cam showed up. Hey, at least you can earn coins for free in FIFA albeit you have to spend a stupid amount of time to earn a lot. King games... you can play for an entire lifetime and still not earn a measly gold bar.

I personally feel there's another thing that goes to magnify this issue, that wasn't necessarily talked about in the video; "Wannabe" developers. Basically, people who get it into their head that they want to create games, thinking it's something cool and easy and a way that they can make stuff other people play and/or buy. The problem is, people who go into making games for that kind of reason, from what I've seen, *usually* don't actually have the knowledge, skills, or even patience to actually make a game from scratch. So, they just take the cheap, lazy way out and copy someone else.
This isn't to say indie games on mobile are bad. Heck, in today's industry, a majority of the actually *good* games out there, mobile or otherwise, are indie games. Small teams who care more about the game than the money are more likely to put effort into a great product, than big companies who have to worry about a failed innovation causing their downfall.
While I agree that there are many, *many* actual ripoffs of Minecraft, that is sadly not provable enough to make it on something like this. Not to mention there's far, *far* too many to actually pin down a single one for a list. In all honesty here; Minecraft, at it's essence, is a combination of genre (sandbox) and aesthetic style (voxel). I can name at least two other games that also fit into this, that are by *no means* "Minecraft ripoffs"; SkySaga, and Trove. In fact, I consider these three games to be a sort of trinity, where each does a particular aspect better (this is based on my opinion) than the others; --Minecraft has the better building (The game did *start* with creative mode, last I heard) --SkySaga has the better combat (Enemy A.I. is actually clever enough that archers will strafe around if you raise a shield to block them) --Trove has the better exploration (Incredibly unique biomes, compared to the other two games, and community-designed content *including* dungeons) So yeah, between the overwhelming number of actual ripoffs, and the fact that it's not all that unique of an idea in general, it really wouldn't have been able to make this list.
Grey The NerdFurry I do indeed think some indie developers wanted to make a great game, but they either didn't succeed of it is incomplete. My best example would be "Lords & Castle - Medieval", it lends many stuff from Clash of Clans but also adds Hills, Inclines, Walls adjust themselves to Hills, Happiness systém where peasant Houses must be close to a castle and a Tavern to generate Gold, and most important: Various research and Historic Heroes, the only problém? It is too short, most legendárny heroes are behind a huge paywall! This game has great ideas but average execution.

Well most overseas mobile games are not. No I don't live in the west therefore Im referring to them. I don't care what anyone says, but it sucks to see other countries ( including mine) try to copy the *Divided States Of America.* Just go by your own standards guys you don't need their verification for something to be okay. (I don't dislike the U.S.A, but you gotta watch yourself out there.) You know even some games if they have English server it's usually the worst servers. Even the Global PSO2 version has BOTS spamming to buy meseta. Good thing I don't play those versions. I only play with Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, Japanese accounts, but for stuff like UA-cam might as well use English. One more thing though, Nico Video, and Bilibili are pretty good alternatives for UA-cam, also Pixiv and Fantia are way better than Deviant Art and Patreon. Micro transactions are the worst. I payed 60€ for assassins creed valhalla and ubisoft has the audacity to put in so many expensive micro transactions. In the past we used to play to get new mounts and outfits. Sometimes we'd even get outfits in single player games for free(witcher 3). But now we only have to pay. It sucks.
Not only that, microtransactions also become more expensive over time. 1 in-game item can have the same cost as a real life car. (Yes it is!) This was unheard of in the early days of mobile gaming. One player spent over a BILLION - with a B - dollars on gems in Clash of Clans, fortunately his father is an oil tycoon. A woman who was addicted to Candy Crush have lost her boyfriend, her job, had to sell her car and her house, and £75000 in debt. And if you think expensive virtual items are bad enough, wait until DLCs as a service become the norm, that is, *you have to pay monthly subscription fees, rather than paying only once,* to get game's extra content or DLCs.

Every single mobile game that either makes you spend money or wait forever for something to happen I got bored of usually within the first 20 minutes. Clash of Clans being the first to come to mind. I'm not gonna pay for your crap, or wait for something to happen. That's not fun, and I don't see how anyone else thinks it is. If I play a game, I wanna be actively doing things.

N.O.V.A 3, Ravensword: Shadowlands, the Infinity Blade trilogy, Modern combat 3 and 4 (stay away from modern combat 5, it is crap), Implosion: never lose hope, Wildblood, and Chaos Rings 3 (unfortunately Square Enix decided to be a dick and remove the earlier games).
If you want some good games then try; Exploding Kittens, Battle for Polytopia, and Shattered Pixel dungeon. In about 5 years of looking for good mobile games that's all I've got for you. 3 games, a card game, a strategy game, and a roguelike.
Eternium mages and minions is a great RPG for mobile.... It has a very decent linear gameplay which will make you remind of old Diablo games.. Despite it has micro transactions, you never need to buy anything.... You only need to progress in the Acts or Levels through the story mode to upgrade your chosen character.......
Grid autosport is a great port and with controller support it is literally a better version than xbox one

Thought this was bad enough, then King with Candy Crush $cam showed up. Hey, at least you can earn coins for free in FIFA albeit you have to spend a stupid amount of time to earn a lot. The problem is, people who go into making games for that kind of reason, from what I've seen, *usually* don't actually have the knowledge, skills, or even patience to actually make a game from scratch. So, they just take the cheap, lazy way out and copy someone else.
This isn't to say indie games on mobile are bad. Heck, in today's industry, a majority of the actually *good* games out there, mobile or otherwise, are indie games. Small teams who care more about the game than the money are more likely to put effort into a great product, than big companies who have to worry about a failed innovation causing their downfall.
While I agree that there are many, *many* actual ripoffs of Minecraft, that is sadly not provable enough to make it on something like this. Not to mention there's far, *far* too many to actually pin down a single one for a list.
In all honesty here; Minecraft, at it's essence, is a combination of genre (sandbox) and aesthetic style (voxel). I can name at least two other games that also fit into this, that are by *no means* "Minecraft ripoffs"; SkySaga, and Trove. In fact, I consider these three games to be a sort of trinity, where each does a particular aspect better (this is based on my opinion) than the others;
--Minecraft has the better building (The game did *start* with creative mode, last I heard)
--SkySaga has the better combat (Enemy A.I. is actually clever enough that archers will strafe around if you raise a shield to block them)
--Trove has the better exploration (Incredibly unique biomes, compared to the other two games, and community-designed content *including* dungeons)
So yeah, between the overwhelming number of actual ripoffs, and the fact that it's not all that unique of an idea in general, it really wouldn't have been able to make this list.
Grey The NerdFurry I do indeed think some indie developers wanted to make a great game, but they either didn't succeed of it is incomplete. My best example would be "Lords & Castle - Medieval", it lends many stuff from Clash of Clans but also adds Hills, Inclines, Walls adjust themselves to Hills, Happiness systém where peasant Houses must be close to a castle and a Tavern to generate Gold, and most important: Various research and Historic Heroes, the only problém? It is too short, most legendárny heroes are behind a huge paywall! This game has great ideas but average execution.

Well most overseas mobile games are not. No I don't live in the west therefore Im referring to them. You know even some games if they have English server it's usually the worst servers. Even the Global PSO2 version has BOTS spamming to buy meseta. Good thing I don't play those versions. I only play with Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, Japanese accounts, but for stuff like UA-cam might as well use English. One more thing though, Nico Video, and Bilibili are pretty good alternatives for UA-cam, also Pixiv and Fantia are way better than Deviant Art and Patreon. War robots and minecraft are the only actual decent games on mobile, I've searched the entire play store for something decent and all of the mobile games are either super boring, a load of crap, or far too easy AIs to beat.

Micro transactions are the worst. I payed 60€ for assassins creed valhalla and ubisoft has the audacity to put in so many expensive micro transactions. In the past we used to play to get new mounts and outfits. Sometimes we'd even get outfits in single player games for free(witcher 3). But now we only have to pay. It sucks.
Not only that, microtransactions also become more expensive over time. 1 in-game item can have the same cost as a real life car. (Yes it is!) This was unheard of in the early days of mobile gaming. One player spent over a BILLION - with a B - dollars on gems in Clash of Clans, fortunately his father is an oil tycoon. A woman who was addicted to Candy Crush have lost her boyfriend, her job, had to sell her car and her house, and £75000 in debt. And if you think expensive virtual items are bad enough, wait until DLCs as a service become the norm, that is, *you have to pay monthly subscription fees, rather than paying only once,* to get game's extra content or DLCs.
