Who are the Starters in Pokémon Legends: ZA?

- Join me as I theorize which starters Gamefreak might be choosing to bring back in the Pokémon Legends: ZA game releasing in 2025! While I agree with the final 9 choices, I don't think they will choose starters that have existing Megas already which would exclude gens 1/3
How does Chikorita “deserve the love”? Charizard prints money, he is the poster child. How does he not deserve it? He is the TCG KING, some of his cards go for thousands of dollars. I bet you’re cool with Eevee getting another evolution form right? Hypocrisy. Also Eevee prints money so that’s why that happens too.
@discodragon2066 "Printing money" because Gamefreak gave up on prioritizing other starters and focused on shoving Charizard alone down our throat at every opportunity. Galar region? Champions Ace is a Charizard. The other 2 Kanto starters aren't even in the dex until the DLC. Kalos region? Why not give Charizard 2 mega forms out of spite for everyone else only getting one. It's nostalgia pandering at it's worst. Let other pokemon get the spotlight for a change. And where did I mention Eevee at all? Call me a hypocrite all you want, I'll just call you a basic genwunner in return.
@@Killua481 I’m fine with that, but from a business standpoint would you replace Charizard with Chikorita and still get the same effect in any of those scenarios? Naaaaah not even close. Crying about a pokemon getting another form is crazy to me. Like it doesn’t take anything away from another pokemon that Charizard gets another form. You CANT force someone to like your favorite Pokémon and unfortunately to you us “genwunners” and casual fans love Charizard. Sorry about that. Also Charizard will probably be your starter with a regional form and a mega Charizard Z.
Personally I feel like Snivy and Piplup are more likely to be two of the starter choices just because they both have obvious French influences. Snivy line is based on a french aristocrat and Empoleon is Napoleon. Scorbunny could also be a pick because of how popular soccer is in France.

Gen 1 and 3 startes are unlikely as they have megas so are unlikely to get new regional forms....

I agree. It feels redundant to make the starters pokemon that already have megas. I think it would make more sense for the starters to be ones that don't yet have an alternate form in general.
Here are some starters idea for Pokemon Legends:Z-A!
Snivy
Scorbunny
Piplup
Serperior is based on French Royals that's gain pure-Grass type, but what regional form should be Grass/Steel that never add for the starters from French Royal theme.
Cinderace original form pure-Fire type seem too basic but, what if regional form going to be Fire/Electric because, their France football in France sport game. It will be really it's becoming Fire/Electric feet look like rollerblade that learned a new signature move. Please no more fire/fighting type!
Empoleon is based on former ruler of French, Napoleon Bonaparte! After 7-star raid it's shown Ice Raid because this will be hint going to Water/Ice, their no penguins in France.
The logic has some huge flaws, mainly with the sinnoh and unova/alola/johto regions not being picked, i think they have the highest chance(along side 1 galar mon)
Kanto/hoen starters already have a mega form, and my theory is that the starters for Z-A won't have a different final form, but a mega form.
My picks are chimchar or tepig(new mega with a different secondary typing) snivy or chikorita(grass mons that felt underwhelming) Sobble or popplio(could maybe recive a "cooler" form)
But the popular piplup, snivy and scorebunny also work(french mons) it would also be nice if the kanto mons also had a mega form

I dont really agree with the assumption that they wouldn't pick from the same gens as the PLA starters. I actually think the starters will be getting new megas and so they wouldn't be any species that already have one
That’s a fair point! I get that, I think if I went in that direction and took gens 1 and 3 out in favor of 2 5 and 7 I would think they’d probably do 2 7 and 8, something like chikorita, popplio, and scorbunny.
I don't think it'll be any that got megas, not because I think the starters will get megas (I think they will save that for the kalos trio) but because those pokemon would already be in the game anyway and so would probably be found in the wild like the sinnoh starterts in PLA.

@@OKreationsi'm not the same guy but IMO the highly speculated (before we got Cinderace) Fire/Electric, as you mentioned, would be cool
Personally, I think the following will hold true:
Disqualified:
All of the Gen 6 Starters (will be in the game, but not as your starter options, much like PL: A)
All of the Gen 1 and 3 Starters (Gen 1 Starters were included in X and Y as options, so I don't think they'd double up, also I frakking hate Charizard. Gen 3 were involved with the Mega Phenomenon too, so I don't think they'll be an option for the same reason as Gen 6)
All of the Gen 4 Starters (lots of recent exposure in PL: A as options, plus BDSP)
All of the Gen 9 Starters (too recent. We just had two main series games with them)
Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott (These were the Legends Arceus Starters)
Further, if Legends Arceus was anything to go by, each Starter will come from a different generation, with no "doubling up".
This leaves the following options:
Grass: Chikorita, Snivy, Grooky
Water: Totodile, Popplio, Sobble
Fire: Tepig, Litten, and Scorbunny
Personally, I think it'll be Chikorita, Popplio, and Scorbunny. But I'm very biased, and don't like Tepig, Litten, or Grooky at all.
In my humble opinion…
Grass - Chikorita
Fire - Tepig
Water - Sobble
Final forms would be
Grass/fairy
Fire/poison
Water/psychic
Loved your approach, but I do think its more possible that that revisit the ones that were recently used on those newest games, that give another form for those that have mega evolutions
And there is a really strong and very possible theory that its gonna be Serperior, Cinderace and Empoleon cuz of all those french influences

Taking out gen 4 doesn't make sense, also gen 1 and 3 have megas there is no way

I do like Litten & Torracat & if the Starters get regional forms/branched evolutions just like last time, we could get to see a 4-legged Incineroar. & Rowlet was the Alola representation for PLA.
You completely forgot that Legends Arceus's starters isnt ONLY FOCUISNG on past starters, But they are also including starter that DIDNT appear in that region's current NATIONAL DEX for a reason since 2 of the 3 starts DID NOT exist in the current region's National Pokedex while 1 did, which is why you cant just add ALL 3 or 2 of the 3 starters that has already appear in Kalos since it wont make any sense, which is why the only starters that have a best chance to be in LZA are:
A Alolan starter, A Galar starter and either a Unova starter OR a Sinnoh Starter.
I feel like the three starters would be 3 starters that dont have megas receiving new megas and then maybe also getting either the kanto or hoenn to choose from like in the original you get for free
So MY theory would be Mega-Meganium/Serperior (idk I don’t think Grookey will be picked 🤷🏻 like Rillaboom is already very good) being either Grass/Fairy-Dragon, Mega-Empoleon/Feraligatr/Inteleon Water/Steel (Armor/Jaws/or Sniper motif depending), Mega Emboar/Infernape/Cinderace being Fire/Fighting punchy guys

I think it's very unlikely that we'd get Kalosian Gen 1 starter evolutions - they're already a part of the Kalos Dex as the Prof gives you a choice of one of them when you first arrive in Lumiose City. And their Mega Evolutions were introduced here. So that means the native Kalos evolution of Charmeleon is Charizard as it has appeared since Gen I.
If they aren't giving the final forms the Regional variant treatment a la Hisui, then I think Gen I is far more likely a choice.
But I actually think they're going to stay with the 6 starters from X & Y - the 3 Gen I and the 3 Gen VI, and maybe give us an alternate Mega Evolution for Venasaur and Blastoise a la Charizard, and finally give Mega Evolutions to the 3 Kalos starters.
For my money, I'd like to have Snivy (Rowlet has already been used up for the 1st Legends game & Snivy is the 2nd best thing to go for), Totodile & Chimchar/Fuecoco being the full trio. These choices made have no specific reason besides just my favoritism, tho Snivy does have French connections.
With the return of megas I doubt we would get gen 1 or 3 pokemon. Except the zard, Pokémon Company and Gamefreak have to give their chosen one a 3rd mega.
This I find this approach interesting. I would have made Kanto/Hoenn off limits because they have megas.

One other factor to consider is that the Gen 1 starters were available as a pseudo-starter set in the original Kalos games.

It’s not in the future, the trailer is just making blueprints for making modern Kalos (XY) look cool. It is a Legends game, so in the past. Not as back in the past as Hisui, but maybe like 50 years or so.
I mean if you think about it, we don’t know that all legends games take place in the past! Busy I could totally see that being the case here
I think the chances of one of the starters being from Gen4 are pretty high, considering that amongst the earlier gens, the SInnoh trio it's the only one without any mega/alternative form

@@OKreations true, also the reason I chose Mudkip is because I was thinking that Mudkip should have another mega evolution, like Charizard & Mewtwo & also, I'm out of options about which Water starter should go for, that's why I chose Mudkip
I do personally lean towards snippy, piplup and scorbunny as the starters from these games but out of your picks I'd definitely choose treeko
