Yes it works and no you do not need to setup another fingerprint. Just turn on the keyboard and you’re done.

Hi, my problem is another way around. I purchased a new iMac 24 inch as I live in France. It came with a French keyboard. I have a 6-year-old iMac similar model with an English keyboard but no major touch button. I tried to connect, but it didn't work. Any advice
Are you saying that you tried to connect the new keyboard with your old iMac?

Yes, it will fully unlock the computer with the external monitor
when the laptop is shut down completely, can I use the keyboard to turn it on?
Great question and the answer is no. You’ll need to turn on the laptop first and then utilize the keyboard. If the laptop is ONLY asleep, tapping keyboard WILL wake it up. Hope this helps!

I believe they do. They would both just sync up and pair via Bluetooth. I love that setup, that’s pretty sweet!
