Been watching a ton of videos on the MX Keys and finally I see one that actually explains and demonstrates the differences in a real way. Love the bit about the key travel height, I was looking for that exactly to get a better grip at how the MX types compared to the Magic Keyboard.
Hey there! As a fellow tech enthusiast, I'd highly recommend checking out the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a versatile and efficient device that not only helps keep your desktop spotless but also comes in handy for cleaning your car's interior and inflating items quickly. With its powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, it's definitely worth considering for your cleaning routine. 🖥🚗✨
Hey {{3}}, as a fellow tech enthusiast, I totally get the appeal of the MX Keys and its 3 device connectivity. However, have you considered adding the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule to your setup? It's a handy tool that offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, perfect for keeping your workspace clean. Plus, it's reasonably priced and the quality is great compared to other brands. Definitely worth checking out!
I have the white colour MX Keys Mini. I use it with my MX Ergo. I love this keyboard. It’s awesome. I love Logitech MX series!! Mine even with backlight turned on can last me for a few months because I seldom use it. I pair it with my m2 Mac Mini Pro, together with my MX Ergo and my Harman Kardon Aura Studio 3 and with my 75 inch Samsung QLED mounted on my wall in my bedroom for entertainment use only. I love my setup very much! It’s simply awesome!!
I don’t mind the Keychron, but the Logitech just performs better, and is a little more stable for me. Maybe if they produce something at the same price that’s a bit better I’d try the keychron again.
Having used the Magic keyboard for years (about a decade), I'm enjoying the Logi MX. The keys feel meatier. The springs are firmer, requiring a bit more force. I don't think I'll switch back to Apple's keyboard any time soon.
What I'm really missing on the MX Keys Mini are the screen brightness keys. Also I like that keys on the Magic Keyboard more, but often switch computers and really miss the possibility to easily switch between multiple devices.
Hey there, it's great to hear that you're looking to optimize your desktop setup! Have you considered the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a compact yet powerful device that offers vacuuming and blowing capabilities, perfect for cleaning your desk and keyboard. The high suction power and versatile accessories make it a valuable addition to any tech enthusiast's toolkit. Give it a shot, and let me know what you think! 🖥💨
FWIW, I returned the MX Keys Mechanical Mini, in part because I wanted blue switches and I got brown cuz I was not yet knowledgable about mechanical keyboards. I ended up with the Keychron K2 V2 with blue switches and, of course, the Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch I.D. I switch between these two keyboards primarily depending on which way the wind is blowing. But I love them both! Perhaps if I had a Logitech MX Keys Mechanical Mini with blue switches, or even the non-mechanical model you reviewed here, I might have stayed with that. Oh well. Thanks for the video.
Really appreciate your review. Very concise and with strong arguments. Also solid video editing keeping things clean and simple. Looking forward for more videos
Hey, thanks for the comment! I recently came across the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule and it's been a game-changer for keeping my desk clean. The vacuuming power and blowing capabilities are impressive, especially for keyboard cleaning. It's definitely worth considering if you're looking for a reliable and versatile cleaning tool.
Are these keyboards ergonomical? I don’t think so. You can’t adjust them at all, Apple seem to think that everyone has the same size of fingers and hands. And the new Magic keyboard has no USB-ports, no backlighting, even more flat and very expensive. I use old Apple keyboard with 2 USB-ports, but I find it too flat, too compact. Why am I using it, why am I still using Mac after 26 years?
The lack of fingerprint button is my only drawback. I’d rather have the Mx keys because it types better and it comes in black. But the id button for logging in and purchases is really nice.
Great video, however there is a tiny mistake. You said Apple Keyboard only works on Mac and is not through, works also over Windows with oficial drivers from Apple 😉
Omg you look like Bjorn from Vikings. Nice cut. BTW has your white keys yellowed? I wish they made a black keys version of the MX Keys Mini for Mac because it stays cleaner than the white keys (which will dirty over time).
Thank you for this review. I purchased an iPad Air a few months ago, and I have been looking for a separate/stand-alone keyboard for it, to replace an older Logitech K480 which I've had for a few years, and I just want something that is more compact and quieter than the K480. I had a question: According to Logitech's website, the MX Keys Mini comes in two variations, the MX Keys Mini and the MX Keys Mini for Mac. Does it Matter which one I buy for an iPad?
The MX Keys Mini for Mac only has mac key legends or text, while the regular version you'll see both windows and mac labels on the keys depending on which layout you have. I believe the Mac layout also comes with a USB-C -> USB-C charge cable where the non-Mac version comes with USB-C to USB-A charge cable, but don't quote me on that last bit, that might only be the MX Master mouse. In any case, if you're buying it just for Apple devices, I would just stick to the Mac version
@@KyleErickson - Thank you for your response, greatly appreciated. I actually have owned the full sized MX Keys for Mac/Windows for over a year, and really like that keyboard. I had to get this version being that I have a Windows Laptop in addition to an older Mac Mini. I should have realized that 2 different MX Keys Mini keyboards follow the same form factor differences as the full sized variants. Using the MX Keys for over a year is what has me sold on the MX Keys Mini versus the comparable Apple keyboard.
Any macOS user that does not need the FN key position as the original apple keyboard is not a pure macOS typist! Fortunately, we have the recent Logitech MX Keys mini for mac with that in consideration. As a software developer and using macOS for years, I don't even look to the keyboard while I'm writing; not having the FN key as the last 4th key on the left is a HUGE issue. I never saw a mechanical keyboard with four, programmable keys on the left... 🫤 With that said, I bought, recently, the Logitech MX Keys mini for Mac, and I'm loving it!!! ❤️
Thanks for this nice comparison video. I ordered yesterday the mx keys mini keyboard and I‘m happy that it was the right choice. Thx! Wish you the best and a lot success with your channel!
Excellent video! I like the MX Keys Mini i just purchased except that you cannot control screen brightness on it! Maybe I'm missing something so will call LogiTech. Use it as primary keyboard since i raised up my MacBook for a more ergonomic worksite.

Excellent, indepth video, thanks. I’ve used a Mx mouse since 2015 (Performance Mx, Mx Master and now the Mx Master 3s) and have no intention in changing. They are a fantastic investment, will last you for years and hold their value when looking to sell after you’ve upgraded. Just my thoughts 😀
You might have thought of it already but you could use keyboard maestro or better touch tool to remap the back and forward track keys. And if you don’t care for caps lock, you could use that as the globe key.
There needs to be a comparison between The Magic Keyboard, MX Keys Mini, Satechi Slim X1 and the Huwaei Ultrathin Keyboard; each one wireless while the Satechi and Huawei both offer wired/wireless modes and the Huawei having the CTRL button in the correct spot; the bottom left corner.
For what it's worth, the dealbreaker for me with the X1 and Huawei is the stupid position of the backslash key and the resulting shrinking of the enter key. It's possible that this is just a result of me being too old to change my muscle memory, but I just can't live with the tiny single-row enter key.
@@digiscream I've had the opportunity to test all four of the keyboards actually, along with the AA battery power Apple BT keyboard. Unfortunately, the most reliable keyboard was the Apple Magic Keyboard; 1-2 month battery life and always connected. The Satechi would VERY frequently lose it's connection and go into sleep mode too often where you'd start typing, but nothing would register on screen and youd need to wait a couple seconds before it'd wake up and youd need to retype whatever you tried typing. The Huawei was very very good, but the right shift key was really short and would really screw with anyone's muscle memory. The MX Keys mini are excellent, however connected to my MBP 16" 2021, it goes into sleep mode even more frequently than the Satechi. For gaming, this keyboard is FANTASTIC. Haven't yet noticed the keyboard go into a weird sleep mode on my Hackintosh though (granted its only been about a day since I've tried using it). I honestly feel like the best solution to all this would be to get a wired keyboard, or one that's both wireless and wireless. So, it's either the Satechi or the Apple Magic Keyboard that would get my vote. Not sure what you mean by the backslash button on the Satechi being weird, both slashes are in their usual spot on the Satechi compared the Apple Magic keyboard.
What do you think about Nuphy? I just bought Halo96 mechanical keyboard, but it seems the keys are a bit crowded. I'm not sure is the feeling similar on the Keychron K2? I need a version with numpad...
How does this compare to the Apple Magic Keyboard, if I don't need to switch to windows/other devices? I just connect to my Mac, that's it. To me its really down to the typing experience, aesthetics, backlighting, and build quality. Or should I swap to a mechanical keyboard, to be able to swap to cute keycaps and all that? 🤔
For anyone whose watching this video at 2024, nuphy has great stuff that works great with mac too like nuphy air 75 v2. I think if you're interested in mechanical keyboards, it's a great choice.
That keyboard looks like it could be the update to thr K810, which I am currently using with my Android Galaxy Z Fold 4 (Android 14 Upside Down Cake, One UI 6.1) and LG V20 (Android 7 Nougat) via Bluetooth connections. Is there a Caps Lock LED? BTW, the Microsoft programs (apps) and DeX on the Z Fold 4 make the Caps Lock light glow, unlike the V20 and other Androids I've used . BTW, very little mention of Androids is mentioned in these reviews, so I thought I'd add mine.
I would too, if they hadn’t made the decision to make F1-F3 exclusively device-swapping keys. Anyone using the Apple ecosystem doesn’t need to swap devices - universal control.
Mx keys is great right up until the time you see it has scooped out keys. It’s just not nice to use. What you need is Satechi X1 slim. As well built as the apple and connects to 3 devices. Works with Mac and pc
I used the MX Keys mini for about 12 months until I worked out in my case it was too cramped and I was getting pain. I am now using the full-sized MX master and its far better.
any help? I bought the mx keys mini keyboard for my brand new iMac desktop. it won't pair up, no matter what I do. the light at the "1" key keeps flashing. I'd love guidance before I return it...thanks!
Hard to say without actually seeing what you’re doing there! If you’re following the instructions and it’s not showing in your Bluetooth items list, I’d probably try pairing something else to your Mac just to make sure it’s the keyboard and not your internal Bluetooth on your Mac and exchange the keyboard
Excellent video! I have all three and using the Apple for TouchID, otherwise I would use my MX keys with my Mac. You might try the G915 TKL. I've found it may be my favorite keyboard in years (I have the clicky version). The latency is the best I have found for a wireless keybaord and it's between the Keychron and the MX keys in regards to travel. It's windows only but will work with a Mac as well.
Hey there! That keyboard recommendation sounds interesting, thanks for sharing! By the way, have you ever tried the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule for keeping your setup clean? It's a compact device with both vacuuming and blowing functions, perfect for maintaining a spotless environment. It's definitely a game-changer for me! 😄🔧
no brainer here logitech rules i have the master MX keys and love it and i can have it bound to 3 devices and just hit a button same for my mouse master mouse as well and the master keys keyboard also lights up apple does not and apple only binds to the one system only
Hi Kyle, thank you so much for this amazing review. Just a question for you, can you recommend the Mx Keys Mini for someone that use Mac and Windows in a daily bases? I use both OS simultaneously and the feature to switch between devices is a great feature for me to have but I m wondering it this keyboard works well with both OS. Thanks in advanced.
If only I could use the MX Keys during boot on my Mac, that would make it perfect. I had two crappy el cheapo keyboards who were available in my Mac during boot (dual boot user here). But they broke and I replaced them with the MX Keys Mini. If the MX Keys Mini were available during boot times, that would make it perfect.
First of all, great review, thanks for that!! 👏👏👏 But I still have a doubt =/ Can you tell me if you have any lag/delay/problem (similar to the explanation bellow) with this keyboard directly via bluetooth on your Mac? I ask that because, today I have a Logitech keyboard that IS NOT bluetooth, it only works with the dongle (which comes with the keyboard). The Mac that I have only has usb-c inputs, and for me to be able to use this keyboard, I need to put a usb-c to usb adapter. However, it is impossible to work like this, because the delay/lag is insane, really really bad. I believe it is due to the adapter on the Mac, because with a dongle directly on usb in another pc, it works fine. So, I believe MX Keys will solve my problem, but i'm not surre! Thanks anyway ;)
Just started trying out a Magic keyboard on my PC, and the fact that delete isn't a thing is just...ridiculous. I work in Excel a lot, and highlight multiple cells, hit backspace...it just deletes the first cell. FN+backspace does nothing. Annoying.
I haven't tried using the Magic Keyboard with a PC. I haven't used PC in 8 years since I switched to a Mac, but on macOS if you want to delete text after the blinking cursor, the shortcut is ctrl + d. Hope this helps.
awesome video men, keep up the great work!! one question, for switching across devices with the Keys Mini, is a USB dongle required or you can switch even withoutt the dongle?. Thanks and cheers!
Hello. What is Mac OS version do you use? How did you make the display battery status in Bluetooth settings (top curtain with quick settings) of non Apple mouse and keyboard? Thanks
I did too :) I'm still in the painful period of remapping my brain muscle memory :) Apple Magic Keyboard worked with Windows fine for me, just had to buy a certain app to properly remap the keys under Windows as I didn't find a proper free solution.
i have used both and mx keys are way better. the k780 has round keys which makes It harder and slower to type. but the mx keys are superior in every way possible i got it when it was 50% off on amazon
@@noortaiyeba1068 Have you found any with a touchpad you really like? Just realized I don't want to use a mouse since it would be for an htpc so looking at nicer options w/ a touchpad and ideally backlit keyboard (but could live without backlight)
I was looking at the MX Keys but I found out it's a membrane and somehow I can't stomach spending that much on a little rubber dome. All of my logitech gear has had reliability and longevity issues.

Great video! Appreciate you brother… I’m a Casual user about to switch to an M1 Mac-mini from a Windows PC…😅 I’ve been doing a little research & Looking at options for accessories.… Keyboard, mouse, USB-C docking hub with internal SSD capability,(Like Satechi, Hagibis, etc.) + 1T SSD like Samsung 870. I do like the fingerprint technology on the Magic Keyboard, which I often use on IPad…(unfortunately no backlit feature🤨) The MX keyboard certainly renders consideration. Also,Looking @ the Logitech MX master 3s mouse… The new Mac mini should be here next week and will initially set up using a standard keyboard and mouse that came with the old Acer PC. Any feedback or suggestions for a new Mac user Would be appreciated. I’ve been using Apple iPads & iPhones for the last eight years and love their reliability and use… Best regards!
I've been using MX keys (full size) for 3 months now, as a separate keyboard for my macbook air. I love it. Best keyboard I've ever had. extremely comfortable and the dome shapes of the keys mean your fingers fit nicely and almost never misstype. I recommend it 100 percent
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? External bluetooth keyboard and mouse not detected at login screen after reboot. Bluetooth keyboard doesn't work during initial boot. macOS doesn't load the low-energy driver at the login stage. I must use a Logitech USB dongle or an original Apple keyboard. That's not a problem, but I expected to have one more available USB port using the most expensive bluetooth keyboard.
Honestly non mechanical keyboards just always feel like utter shit to me, the Magic Keyboards or MX keys mini are no exception. They feel like typing on childrens toys compared to real mechanical switches. Especially given the customization level of differing switches you can use to suit your own preferences, something membrane and scissor don't offer at all. My other issue with the Magic keyboard or MX Mini is aren't the keycaps just layered on legends? Those really won't stand the test of time if they are, which is rather sad given the price point. Where as a mechanical I put on one set of Doubleshot or Dyesub caps it's good for life. I'm guessing like myself you seem to type quite a bit so legends fading is definitely something that sadly does wear through legends after about a year or less of usage. Even on the PBT Pok3r keycaps which were lasered I wore through them in about 6 months. How have yours held up? Never had a non mechanical keyboards legends hold up more than a year at most really without wearing completely or at least partially looking ugly. Something easily changed on mechanicals. Slightly unrelated, have you ever tried Topre? Especially a HHKB2 where as you are using a Mac like myself. The newer ones offer Bluetooth and are easily one of the best typing "Feels" available, though more expensive than any keyboard mentioned here by an order of magnitude.
I haven't tried Topre - maybe I will check it out! As to your other concerns with wear - I have used a Magic Keyboard for years without any problems, and while the MX Keys Mini is relatively new, the full size MX Keys has been out for quite a while longer and I haven't seen many issues myself, or amongst the folks I know or work with that use it for large portions of their day. For everyone, our experiences definitely shape our perspective on these things, so I don't think there is a right or wrong answer a lot of the time. If you've got something that works for you, that's awesome.
Nice but too small for me. I use the larger one with the number pad. I got an MX Keys piece of junk so currently using my old wired Mac one. You can have the MX junk is you want. MX Vertical mouse is also a piece of crap. I'm looking for new stuff.
For the price of that Keychron, I'd expect something like tiny e-ink displays which change the text on the few keys that have to change between Mac and Windows. Swapping key caps? Ugh.
Been watching a ton of videos on the MX Keys and finally I see one that actually explains and demonstrates the differences in a real way. Love the bit about the key travel height, I was looking for that exactly to get a better grip at how the MX types compared to the Magic Keyboard.

I used the MX Keys mini for about 12 months until I worked out in my case it was too cramped and I was getting pain. I am now using the full-sized MX master and its far better.
isnt it the same size just without the number pad?
@@noortaiyeba1068 Apparently there is a typing difference between these two keyboards. I have heard other individuals mentioning this too.
The Mx mini can’t be connected with wire??
are you using the mac or multi platform version? Thanks
I’m using the Mac version!
People who complain the backlight doesn't stay on should take some touch typing lessons.
What is the deskpad model? Store, if possible. Tks.
no brainer here logitech rules i have the master MX keys and love it and i can have it bound to 3 devices and just hit a button same for my mouse master mouse as well and the master keys keyboard also lights up apple does not and apple only binds to the one system only
Hey Kyle, Great video. Did you try the Satechi Slim? Big price difference for the better and can be plug in or Bluetooth.
i so want to go to mini but my accounting and excel use is keeping me stuck to a full size keyboard I cant type faster with upper number row
There is a version of Mx keys mini that has supports both Mac and windows. You can get that one. It connects with Android devices too.
yes you can to both PC or MAC by switching option
If only I could use the MX Keys during boot on my Mac, that would make it perfect.
I had two crappy el cheapo keyboards who were available in my Mac during boot (dual boot user here).
But they broke and I replaced them with the MX Keys Mini.
If the MX Keys Mini were available during boot times, that would make it perfect.
Is magic keyboard available during boot?
Magic kb is not a problem but the trackpad. The trackpad works great but eats batteries like crazy. Are there any replacement trackpads out there ?
You can use Magic Trackpad while charging
First of all, great review, thanks for that!! 👏👏👏
But I still have a doubt =/
Can you tell me if you have any lag/delay/problem (similar to the explanation bellow) with this keyboard directly via bluetooth on your Mac?
I ask that because, today I have a Logitech keyboard that IS NOT bluetooth, it only works with the dongle (which comes with the keyboard). The Mac that I have only has usb-c inputs, and for me to be able to use this keyboard, I need to put a usb-c to usb adapter. However, it is impossible to work like this, because the delay/lag is insane, really really bad. I believe it is due to the adapter on the Mac, because with a dongle directly on usb in another pc, it works fine. So, I believe MX Keys will solve my problem, but i'm not surre!
Thanks anyway ;)
I don’t have any lag issues
Just started trying out a Magic keyboard on my PC, and the fact that delete isn't a thing is just...ridiculous. I work in Excel a lot, and highlight multiple cells, hit backspace...it just deletes the first cell. FN+backspace does nothing. Annoying.
I haven't tried using the Magic Keyboard with a PC. I haven't used PC in 8 years since I switched to a Mac, but on macOS if you want to delete text after the blinking cursor, the shortcut is ctrl + d. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the awesome in-depth review 😀👏🏾!
Thanks for watching!
awesome video men, keep up the great work!! one question, for switching across devices with the Keys Mini, is a USB dongle required or you can switch even withoutt the dongle?. Thanks and cheers!
Just Bluetooth
MX Keys is like a pillow for your fingers. Magic Keyboard is like nails.
Hello. What is Mac OS version do you use? How did you make the display battery status in Bluetooth settings (top curtain with quick settings) of non Apple mouse and keyboard? Thanks
I'm on Monterey, this just automatically works on all my machines.
Great comparison!
How do you get the mission control dedication button control back? Is there a way to reprogram the 3 function keys?
Thank you for posting this
I did too :) I'm still in the painful period of remapping my brain muscle memory :)
Apple Magic Keyboard worked with Windows fine for me, just had to buy a certain app to properly remap the keys under Windows as I didn't find a proper free solution.
How would you compare these to say, the Logitech K780 or other cheapo logitech keyboards?
i have used both and mx keys are way better. the k780 has round keys which makes It harder and slower to type. but the mx keys are superior in every way possible i got it when it was 50% off on amazon
@@noortaiyeba1068 Have you found any with a touchpad you really like? Just realized I don't want to use a mouse since it would be for an htpc so looking at nicer options w/ a touchpad and ideally backlit keyboard (but could live without backlight)
@@neilquinn na I haven’t used anything like that I just use a mouse it’s easier than a touchpad I feel like
@@noortaiyeba1068 If only it has touch ID.
I just bought the anker keyboard $20 from wal mart not bad at all. I do want an apple Touch ID one eventually
I just got the mx mechanical mini for mac and even the simplest shortcuts like ctrlZ do not work. It's frustrating
Do you mean command z?
@@KyleErickson yes, i added figma on logi options+ and now it works. Thank you
I was looking at the MX Keys but I found out it's a membrane and somehow I can't stomach spending that much on a little rubber dome. All of my logitech gear has had reliability and longevity issues.
Lucky for you MX mechanical came out yesterday
I've found logitech to be extremely reliable. I've been using MX Keys for 3 months now and I love it. Super comfortable and sturdy.
@@jdillon8360 3 months isn't reliable mate. Try years or a decade first.
@@chrisx5127 I've had multiple Logitech products, for many years. Never had any issues. From my experience they are very reliable.
@@jdillon8360 Their G5 or MX 518 break every 1.5 years. They do replace it for you for free but still. Meanwhile I have my Zowie (what professional CSGO players use), and it has been five years and going strong.
Great video! Appreciate you brother…
I’m a Casual user about to switch to an M1 Mac-mini from a Windows PC…😅 I’ve been doing a little research & Looking at options for accessories.… Keyboard, mouse, USB-C docking hub with internal SSD capability,(Like Satechi, Hagibis, etc.) + 1T SSD like Samsung 870.
SUPER HELPFUL VIDEO
Thanks for watching!
can you do keychron b1 pro vs mx keys mini please! btw great vids!!
What about TouchID!!
Because of partnership
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? External bluetooth keyboard and mouse not detected at login screen after reboot. Bluetooth keyboard doesn't work during initial boot. macOS doesn't load the low-energy driver at the login stage. I must use a Logitech USB dongle or an original Apple keyboard. That's not a problem, but I expected to have one more available USB port using the most expensive bluetooth keyboard.
Switch to windows
Would be nice to see Keychron K3 instead but anyway
Nice Video.
But I have to say you can use the apple keyboard on a windows pc( I use it both on my Mac and windows pc).
Gracias amigo 👌
What about Touch ID, the most obvious reason why Mac users get the magic keyboard !
Can you make your intro music louder
good video, audio is a bit low. consider raising your gain in post.
Apple’s Magic Keyboard 100% works with non-Apple hardware and operating systems.
If only the goddamn thing wouldn't flash like a strobe light every 2 seconds with no way to just leave it ON!
I have mini and I love it
Sounds crazy but you sound like crispin glover when he was young
True
Nice but too small for me. I use the larger one with the number pad. I got an MX Keys piece of junk so currently using my old wired Mac one. You can have the MX junk is you want. MX Vertical mouse is also a piece of crap. I'm looking for new stuff.
The apple keyboards are too small
anyone ever told you that you look like Milan Skriniar?
mx keys sensors and software is pretty bad unfortunatly
Cool!
For the price of that Keychron, I'd expect something like tiny e-ink displays which change the text on the few keys that have to change between Mac and Windows.
Swapping key caps? Ugh.
Sorry Logitech, Apple’s Magic Keyboard will never be beat.
The Apple keyboard is and always has been a piece of overpriced crap.
Yea, why did you, cuz mx sucks if you're over 30
you trade it to the plastic keyboards? Nice... 😂
