You can't encapsulate 90s R&B much more than All 4 One and Boyz II Men. Made up of vocalists Jamie Jones, Delious Kennedy, Alfred Nevarez, and Tony Borowiak, they were one of the best harmony groups of that decade. Ironically, this song (released in 1994) was a cover of a COUNTRY song by John Michael Montgomery. (Both versions hit #1 on various charts.) As for All 4 One, their only other Top 10 hits were "I Can Love You Like That", which should definitely be your next one, and "So Much In Love".
This was probably their biggest hit, but their acapella version of "So Much In Love" is beautiful. I saw them in concert a few years ago. Still sounding great!
I just saw them 2 days ago and they looked and sounded great. I love how they conversed with the audience and told some great stories. They seemed genuinely devoted to pleasing the audience and giving their all even though the concert was at a small venue at a local park. Loved them.
I highly recommend Boyz II Men. I saw them live several years ago. (One of my friends was their support act). The power went out and these guys finished the set acapella. Just found out from my daughter, who was in her late teens/early 20's when this band was popular, that they are performing at a spring concert in York, Pa tonight 10 minutes from where I live. It is a concert series that lasts all summer and there is no admission fee, only donations. My daughter is super excited to see them and I am also going along. Good to see they are still performing even if is on a smaller scale. I'm looking forward to hear how they sound and will edit this comment with an update. EDIT: The band was great. Very professional and told some great stories including how the band formed and how one of the band members competed against them in a talent contest before they were well known and only had 3 band members at the time. They were so impressed by him that they kept in touch and later invited him to be a member of the band. They were great with the audience, even shaking hands with many of them. Still had the pipes and sounded great.
Home Free does a great version of this song with some romantic humor thrown in. I know how much you guys like that group. You may want to check it out for yourselves some time.
@@taoist32 They sort of mix a little of both the original & All 4 One's version in the cheesy 90's romantic style of videos at that time. I really enjoy them adding some humor to this song but their vocals never suffer.
This was my first school dance song in middle school. I was terrified, but I did it. My first slow dance with someone other than my mother in small town southwest Oklahoma
OMG, I used to love this song so much and still do. I believe it came out right as I was graduating from junior high so it must have been in 1994. I remember for my graduation trip we went on a class trip to Hershey Park and they had one of those song booths you could pay to record yourself singing and get a cassette tape (yes, there were CD's back then but tapes were still common at that time). Anyway, my friend and I choose to sing this song because it was our favorite though she got shy on me and I ended up singing most of it alone with her only joining for the chorus, lol. Fun memories, though now I'm sad I actually lost that tape. 😅 Great choice for an R&B song! 👍 ...Though, honestly the top group for me will always be Boyz II Men when it comes to guys singing R&B. "4 Seasons Of Loneliness" is one of their sorta sad songs but I think you'd enjoy it despite that and I don't think it gets recommended enough, along with their cover of "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday." Oh, and they (B2M) have a song that's perfect for a mother's day reaction appropriately called "A Song for Mama" (if I'm remembering correctly it was for a soundtrack, I think the movie was called "Soul Food") that you guys should definitely write down to check out then.
You should listen to the original by John Michael Montgomery (great country song…was a great wedding song also)!!!!! PS more older country again please!
Back in the 90’s before the internet, cell phones, and social media was really a big thing we would slow dance and couple skate to these songs on weekends. They also had another one called I can love you like that.
So my wife Millie said, "Oh yeah. This is a great song." before you started playing it. I remembered it when the chorus started. Yup. Great love song. Thank you.
Jay & Amber , this was a country song first by John Michael Montgomery then All 4 One remade it, you need to listen to it as well to hear the difference
Former chauffeur here: I drove these cats to the county fair, saw the show backstage, and then to a hotel near an international airport - a one-hour drive. Delious Kennedy in the zip-up hoodie sang the entire way sitting just behind me. Wow!!! What a treat! Did he do it for the love of the art? Rehearsing? 🤷♂ When I dropped them off I asked Jamie Jones (sometimes singing falsetto) for their autographs for a young lady visiting from Texas. Without missing a beat he signed all their names just a little differently so I could have everybody's signature fast. 🤩 I mailed it to the young lady soon after. 😎
Me and two of my friends used to love listening and singing i swear from All for one. We couldn't sing as good as All for one obviously but we didn't care.
Ooh, when that second guy came in on lead, I just melted. What a gorgeous tone! And what a brilliant contrast to the first guy's voice. Nice! Oh, dude, you just said that lol!

John Michael Montgomery brought this song out first in 1993, the following year All 4 One recorded it. Although I'm not a huge country fan (I'm a Rock n Roll girl at heart), I prefer his version. It may be because his is the original and the first version that I've heard.. I don't know. This became a huge 'first dance' song for the bride & groom at many weddings during the 90s. It is a slow song as it's a waltz.. meant for snuggling up and slow dancing to.
No he didn't, it was on his ALBUM in 93, it was released as a single in NOVEMBER OF 94, which means they released it first. Theirs was a bigger hit anyway, and that is the point.
My apologies. First version with John Michael Montgomery came out six months ahead of the other one. David Foster is the actual writer of the song and produced all for one’s version which got a lot more AirPlay and went to #1

Just love when youngins finally hear our music.............
Another wedding song played at every wedding. Beautiful song. Yes it is very slow but it is made for a slow dance.
Amber you hit it on head, I’ve heard this song at every wedding I’ve attended since it came out in the early nineties.
The original, by country artist John Michael Montgomery, is a darned good track, too.
I agree Michael Montgomery is amazing
The best version actually. Of course I'm from the country (and I like it that way)
@@lindamosley922 Me too!
The collaboration between all 4 one and John Michael Montgomery is pretty good as well
@@special420player Oh, yeah? Will check that one out, Cory!
Home Free does a great version of this song with some romantic humor thrown in. I know how much you guys like that group. You may want to check it out for yourselves some time.
Is it a cover of this cover or a cover of the original by John Montgomery? Also, Alan Jackson did a cover as well.
@@taoist32 They sort of mix a little of both the original & All 4 One's version in the cheesy 90's romantic style of videos at that time. I really enjoy them adding some humor to this song but their vocals never suffer.
This is a popular wedding song. I do not think I have been to one wedding where it was not played at least once
One of the top make out songs and slow danced songs at school dances of the mid 90s. Love this song. Brings back memories.
This was played during my 1st wedding. Bad memories. Ugh LOL
Always and Forever was a big wedding song.
This was my first school dance song in middle school. I was terrified, but I did it. My first slow dance with someone other than my mother in small town southwest Oklahoma
This group is a trhowback to the Doo-Op erra. This was also the street corner quartette age.
Brings back some great memories.....check out Hi-5 "She's Playing Hard To Get and Can't Wait Another Minute"
You recently listened to the #1 song of 1994 in the USA ("The Sign" by Ace Of Base). This song was the #2 song of 1994 in the USA. 😎
...Though, honestly the top group for me will always be Boyz II Men when it comes to guys singing R&B.
Another wedding song sung by a good friend .as we were in the middle just before out vows, this was sung. Love, love, love
I love All 4 One and Boyz II Men. This song hit me right in the feels. I miss the 90s. Yes, it's a slow song but It's smooth and awesome!☺🤗
You should listen to the original by John Michael Montgomery (great country song…was a great wedding song also)!!!!! PS more older country again please!
How about some Delfonics “La-La Means I Love You”
We had this as one of our wedding dances 26yrs ago! ❤️👍🏼
Their voices still give me goosebumps! This was a must-play at school dances for the slow dances.
This was originally a country song. Check out the John Michael Montgomery version.
A classic
Yes!!! I think JMM is much better. Along with I love the way you love me
Tracy Chapman "give me one reason" is a song you will dig big time.
Tracy Chapman has such meaning and such emotion in her voice. Give Me One Reason, Talkin’ bout a Revolution, Fast Car - all great.
Back in the 90’s before the internet, cell phones, and social media was really a big thing we would slow dance and couple skate to these songs on weekends. They also had another one called I can love you like that.
I haven’t heard this in ages! Brings back middle school memories.
John Michael Montgomery recorded this before them, very good ,check that one out also !!!
why the hell were you mailing it to her? lol for that effort already better be wet
Me and two of my friends used to love listening and singing i swear from All for one.
We couldn't sing as good as All for one obviously but we didn't care.
Good song good reaction
Ooh, when that second guy came in on lead, I just melted. What a gorgeous tone! And what a brilliant contrast to the first guy's voice. Nice!
Oh, dude, you just said that lol!
I will say that was very good
For more '90s R&B check out Tony! Toni! Tone!
I’m beyond proud I grew up on 90s and 2000s country music. Thank you Mom and Dad.
I will say...the version of this song that I'm used to opens with them all harmonizing on "I Swear" in acapella. So I'm always sold from the beginning whenever I hear it.
Nothing like that old RnB!!
All 4 one, New kids on the block, and Boyz II Men were my favorite groups in the 90s. This was definitely a popular song at our school dances.
You have to do Allure's All Cried Out!! And After 7's Ready Or Not. They were from this era and are talented.
Omg this song is a classic love it!
Omg, so excited for you to hear this. Smooth as caramel.
This group has a bunch of awesome hits!
Fun memories I was a 90s teenager and young adult all the R&B male and female groups were awesome
Such a beautiful sound, their voices are brilliant together! Another song I’ve not heard forever! A perfect love song to sway to & maybe shed a happy tear!
♥️The old white woman
“John Michael Montgomery”, “Boyz II Men”, and “home free” recorded this song!!!!! Now “all 4 one”
BIIM never did this song. Home free is a cheap cover group, so is JMM. It's All-4-one's song.
the fact that it was originally a country song and still works perfectly as an r&b song speakes volumes about the quality of the song and confirms that music is universal no matter what genre you may think you love the most!
Love them ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I will be the first to say that I love this song. It was originally done by A guy named John Michael Mongomery . He is A country singer and its beautiful. And The best JMM song is, I love the way you love me. Me and bf song of 30 years. Please do that one.
You 2 made this reaction video fun ... keep up the good work.. love your show
Original by John Michael Montgomery is my favorite version.
The ultimate wedding song of 1994!! All 4 One had a few good songs!! You need to dive into Shai If I Ever Fall In Love… there is two version a song and acapella version! Also let’s get some Boys II Men on here!! End of the Road, On Bended Knee, Water Runs Dry, Motownphilly, Thank You… let’s go!!
Yes, I love the sax on this version. You could give the John Michael Montgomery version a listen. I Can Love You Like That is also a sweet ballad. Awesome reaction guys.
Title is "I Swear". I also like some of there other songs like "I Can Love You Like That" & "So Much In Love". that they sing. They have this Boys II Men vibe.
I grew up in the 80's and 90's; even though I'm rock, metal fan we listened to R&B and it was a high school dance type song.
This brings a lot of memories to me as this was my wedding dance song
This song was that last slow song at every school dance in the 90s! Last chance to ask that girl you like to dance!
Don't forget 90s ladies as well. A fantastic Female Friday selection would be En Vogue. My Lovin' (Never Goin to Get It), Free Your Mind, and Whatta Man, which they did with Salt and Pepa, are so good.
Hi Jay and Amber. I SWEAR/All-4-One Charted at #1 (Billboard Hot 100) for an amazing 11 weeks in 1994. Other All-4-One songs to do a reaction to are:
SO MUCH IN LOVE/All-4-One. This song charted at #5 (Billboard Hot 100) in 1994. Play the 3:29 All-4-One video for this song.
I CAN LOVE YOU LIKE THAT/All-4-One. This song charted at #5 (Billboard Hot 100) in 1995. Play the 4:23 RHINO official video for this song.
SOMEDAY/All-4-One (From The Hunchback Of Notre Dame). This song charted at #30 (Billboard Hot 100) in 1996. Play the 4:13 xPrincessAriel101x video for this song. Love you guys.
And that's the name of the game, charts and sales.
You guys need to do "All My Life" by KC and JoJo!!!
Yeah, this is a fine cover, but this will always be John Michael Montgomery's song for me. All 4 One did another one of his songs if I'm not mistaken.
John Michael Montgomery covered this not the other way around
@@poeslanding "I Swear" Wikipedia says otherwise. All I know for sure is that I definitely heard and purchased the JMM CD before All 4 One.
@@midnightblue6668 Unfortunately Wikipedia is open to anyone to edit or post
My apologies. First version with John Michael Montgomery came out six months ahead of the other one. David Foster is the actual writer of the song and produced all for one’s version which got a lot more AirPlay and went to #1
@@poeslanding No worries, that's why I double checked my memory as well. Even pulled out my JMM CD's to check the publication dates. =) As I said, for me, All-4-One's versions are okay, but they will always be JMM songs to me and I much prefer those versions. But we often prefer the versions we hear first. Either way, it's great that there are multiple options for folks that we can enjoy the styles that best suit us, or the styles that best suit us at a given moment. =)
"I Swear" is a song written by Gary Baker and Frank J. Myers that became a hit for American country music artist John Michael Montgomery in 1993 and for American R&B group All-4-One in 1994
today's youth have forgotten that there is a dance for this kind of music, the slow to kiss and look into each other's eyes and show their love and passion
Classic!!
Jay, what a gift! You know exactly the music to play for Amber just a couple of days before VD! Line 'em up!
You should try R&B from the 50's 60's 70's and then 80's
We gotta have. We're gonna have more country music and today's. Today's society, I mean, you look at where we're going doing it big wellingstown to pull her in boy Stone apart from daddy, you know, it's time. Do you know who's thinking about it a little bit?😅😅😅😅😅
That is a whole It's a lot of country music out there's stealed. It's undiscovered, I'm not that's a shine. Sure, i'm because you know how good the music is
another great song is the first time by surface. great song. vocals are strong. r&b from 80's
Great video and reaction but I'm surprised you never heard this song this been a top wedding song for years.
