@@TobiasBergdorf Since scroll stop isn't an item can you call the video Bonus Breakdown, it really upsets me when such details are overlooked. BTW this is a wonderful series.
5:00 A note about using breakable blocks in boss battles: make sure you have a good spot for your key door in mind early on, or else it may end up placed somewhere... awkward. Speaking from experience.
Just changing it from listing everyway they can be broken for like a minute to just putting them on the screen for like 2 seconds is such a huge improvement :3
Definitely with you on scroll stop being the best feature added to MM2 - Honestly my biggest disappointment about MM2 was brick blocks not activating scroll stop, making it tricky to e.g. put a hidden room accessed via tanooki tail at the top of a stage.
Odd, that they're both in the same video. Im guessing it's because they're both really the same just one has different physics, but the other has scrollstop, so I imagine doing them both at the same time is handy.
@@TobiasBergdorf Fair Enough. Tackling every single item in Mario Maker is definately a daunting task. Doubling up on the items that are very simular only makes sense.
@@BrixVGM Probably not just similar properties but also connected properties, the P-Switch breakdown will likely also include the P-Block, I'm guessing.
@@MettanAtem Agreed. Imagine not having the on-off switch with the on-off blocks, now that'd be silly. Though I wouldn't be suprised if *all* the on/off objects were grouped into one video (conveyors, track switches, etc)
After you're done with all the item breakdowns maybe you can do showcases of how various items work well with each other or maybe some contraption ideas
In night snow theme, hard blocks become ice blocks essentially (as do most other surfaces including ground blocks), so actual ice blocks don't really have much use at that point right?
You neglected to mention that while the Hard Block (and most other terrain) are slippery in the Night Snow theme (equal to the Ice Block in other themes), the Ice Block in Night Snow becomes even more slippery, to the point where it takes quite a while to stop sliding when you stop moving.
I like the ice blocks! They have a an ok texture in in SMB and in SMB3, but SMW,NSMBU and SM3DW look good! They are good for using as decorations since they can be used as windows
Your tutorial are great! But since you have such a good eye for all those details on how to make good stuff, I would really like to see some more playthrough videos in which you showcase traditional levels you made or find really good :)

@@kati.f My mistake, I thought you were asking how to use the scroll stop feature in the 3DS version. Anyway, I do not know much about Mario Maker 1, but I believe hard blocks and ice blocks are identical minus ice blocks being slippery in that version.
Hay I would be happ if you could make caevelike content (ples don't copy) but I would be really happy because I use this neat trick that I lean for troll levels (ur still awesome if that offended you)
You can destroy these with: Big Mario Luigi Toad or Toadette, skewer, Thwomp🍄, SM3DW Thwomp🍄, Spiny Mario Luigi Toad or Toadette, and I think that is it I did not test out the bullies yet or the bullies🍄 so I will tell you later. I just test it and a bully🍄 can. Tested bully now but bully can't without 🍄.

Just a quick question, what’s going to happen with say items that get new versions that you have already done? For example the coin ice block?
@@chimcham300 I'm honestly not too sure yet. I wish UA-cam would allow me to edit already uploaded videos.
I hope the Buzzy Beetle or Koopa Troopa videos are coming up really soon.
Interesting that you did both at the same time. I would separate them because of the scroll stop thing.
Scroll stop deserves it's own dedicated video - for the Item Breakdown series these two were too similar for separate videos.
@@TobiasBergdorf Since scroll stop isn't an item can you call the video Bonus Breakdown, it really upsets me when such details are overlooked. BTW this is a wonderful series.
Tobias Bergdorf when are you making another item breakdown? Are you working on something big?
just asking, no rush

Please do Arrow Sign on April 1st xD
Or the ground block
I better get credit for all the Arrow Sign research I put in.
Or hammerbro
Eraser
Goomba.
I love these videos, even though I don't play MM2 much
Well I'm glad to have you here anyway!
I don’t play it at all!
I would’t mind having it though.
I cant even play it at all

Same! I find it quite fun making levels, even though I can’t upload them.

Keep up these videos man! Love them! I'm using your advice in my levels now!
Thanks so much, happy to help!
Item Breakdown is a series that can last until Nintendo finally adds a new extra game style as DLC, because it WILL happen.... eventually...
Hey you !?
Christopher Moon then he has to do it al over again
Eventually doesn’t mean soon, so therefore they can release dlc on the date 4/20/69
Reminder that nintendo never promised anything, So in the future if nothing comes you only have yourself to blame.
r/wooooosh
How *hard* was this video to make. And how *cool* was it too?
It wasn't too *hard* but I think it turned out pretty *cool* .
hahahahahaha
No, don't. You're not Sans. I think.
Oh nice dude! I hadn't even thought of using winged hard blocks for moving platforms! I'd just been using em for scroll stop and indication blocks
yeah, I have not seen many levels used winged hard/ice blocks (though I don't have the game atm). it looks pretty different in your level too!
Happy New Year, Tobias!
Always a great source of inspiration, thanks.

Another l'epic video ;)
BTW It's really cool to see how it switches scenes so smooth.
I don’t own SMM2 and probably won’t ever get a switch... but this videos are so satisfying and interesting to watch anyway.

that's what I was thinking too. I guess for thematics the OG ice blocks would be useful.

On april fools you should make a "Mario" breakdown
First video in 2020! Hooray!
Also, Ice Blocks make great windows for Semisolid Platform Building Decorations.
Empty "?" blocks behave as the Hard blocks except they don't stop scrolling and "?" blocks with vine inside vine and block (if it destroyed) will respawn. (Sorry for bad Eng.)
You should do this about the course themes and night themes
It would be great if ice blocks blended together like growing blocks
Oh this video is COOL...
I will see myself out.
Great pun!
Nice that you cut the "what can destroy it section".
Could you do tracks next?
How do I use them?
*I don't because I bought a 3ds instead of a switch for some reason*
William F. In the 3DS version, you cannot use scroll stop, due to the 3DS version being based on Mario Maker 1.

Ice blocks make a good ground tile for smb1 and 3 snow castle theme

Need a breakdown for poison shroom

wait... so frozen coin blocks will have their own vid?
We want to learn about bullet bills and cannons
Do the Wiggler next!

Koopa clown car next?
