Really interesting insight into sales mate. I must say my experience of buying from Oaktree was exactly as you have shown here. It was very relaxed and they delivered on everything they promised and i felt really confident and comfortable all the way through the process. The only added part i would add is that it doesn't stop when you drive off with your new shiny motorhome as the after sales service is spot on too 😀
Yeah it's great to be able to go behind the scenes and have a peek behind the curtain so to speak. That's brilliant to hear that it was exactly the same as shown and goes to show they the same on and off camera and have a recipe for success. 😊👍🏻
I’m not a motorhome owner but find the concept of owning one very attractive and would certainly visit Oak tree. Thanks for the informative and entertaining videos. Long may they continue. Happy Christmas. 🎄
Bang on Daz, being a caravan salesman myself you’ve got to be super relaxed. Love showing caravans their new caravan, getting to know the customers etc.. the products sell themselves. Oaktree have a very good reparation and owned by a superb owner who cares 👍🏻
Yet another good video, we have visited Oak Tree and like the way they do things, Yourself and Rob we instrumental in us getting Blue Fix to do our installation, and yes we did get your discount. As for you doing a period of time in a panel-van I don’t thing you’ll be able, not with the amount of gear you carry, even for a couple of nights, but best of luck. Liking the book, just slowly making my way through it.
Your book arrived last week! And to anyone that hasn’t bought it yet! I advise you to buy it. What a fantastic read so insightful.! so helpful, beautiful photographs throughout! And what an absolute achievement that you have done big man! To write your own book 👍🏻 and such a brilliant one at that. It will literally be my Bible in the future for when I travel in my van thank you so much.
I used to sell caravans years ago and loved making my customers happy. I wish i was still in the industry but its gone downhill in south wales now sadly
Probably best renting a few different sizes and layouts in the long run or try living in different ones static on a forecourt when things aren't moving fast in winter.
Great video good to hear you explain how a business is run out lay etc. I've had a few sale's jobs currently fish and chips, some of the general pop still think you can get cod and chips for £2.75. I say of course if you jump in my time machine with me and we'll go back to 1990 😊😂😂
MIRTH. I'm an Aussie living in Asia and I've watched a few of your video's now. I think this word "mirth" sums you up. You are just way happy and cheerful all the time. Your life is full of Mirth. I think I first came across the word Mirth when reading The Hobbit back in the 70's and right now I am thinking had J.R.R. Tolkien been able to view your video's he may well have created a super mirthful character based on you, possibly a tavern owner. Cheers mate, your video's are always good. PS. If anybody out there has never read The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings, do yourself a favour and read it NOW. Best book ever. And if you've read it but not for a while then read it again, you won't be disappointed and you will relive that joy of when you first picked it up. I think 5 times for me plus one time reading The Hobbit in Thai script :)
Your book arrived a few days with a nice glittery sticker as a bonus... 👍 Just one problem, Darran, you seemed to have forgotten to slip in a golden ticket 🤔😉
No offence I preferred the old independent Daz who was not controlled by a company or biased against selling products . however, I know everybody has to make a living and the best you .
Here is a question you can ask of the sales crew at Oaktree motorhomes. We have been looking for a Auto-sleepers Nuevo (2007 to 2009) we have seen several range from £22500 up to £34000, so how do they work out the cost, my question is how do they work out the price going onto the full court, (these prices of vans have all been at dealerships mileage as all been within 10,000 so between four and 50,000 miles)?
There's no precise art to valuing,l and different dealers will work on different margins which will dictate pricing . Personally I will look at vans I've sold in the kadt year that are similar and what's for sale out there and try and retail stuff at a fair price that also gets the deal done to bring it in . When looking at autotrader to gain a price view you can normally not use ones in Kent, Scotland or at certain expensive dealers when getting a line of form value wise, you'll also sometimes see cheaper vans for the smaller sub Prime dealers who buy older stock from other dealers and work on smaller margins and overheads but may not offer the same level of prep, warranty, aftersales etc
Thank you very much. I appreciate your response to my question however you don’t really answer it, and I suppose it’s very much individual decision on how much a motorhome costs then.
It seems very strange that a large company selling expensive products don't accept credit cards, do they expect people to bring bags of cash, i think HMRC need to look into this company
Quite a few car dealers don’t take credit cards. One reason is they’d rather sell you their own credit. Another is that if you pay a deposit by credit card for items between £100 and £30,000, they're obliged to cover you if something goes wrong, or you may even be able to do a chargeback. So most dealers prefer a bank transfer then they know they've got your money.
Yep credit cards provide excellent protection as a consumer and can hit sellers hard. That said finance houses are the same if the vehicle is faulty they will dump it back on the dealer

Personally think six metres with overcab bed and captain's seats make efficient use of the length of a van and most seem to have good layouts.
