In one of your older videos about old and rare items, you mentioned the Shard of the Fallen Star trinket. You explained that it had a very low drop chance from AQ40 trash mobs and featured a unique effect where it summoned a comet to strike an enemy target and some veteran PvPers used it just for fun. Your mention of it left such an impression on me that I decided to farm it myself. After five years of effort, it finally dropped! (on retail WoW) Now, I always keep it in my bags and use it for laughs when dueling friends. Every time I see it, it makes me smile - I honestly thought they might have removed it from the game, but thankfully, it’s still there!

My wife to this day seethes over the Baron Rivendare horse. She rolled a 100 on it, and so did someone else, then of course she lost it in the invisible roll.. haven't seen it drop since then.

I remember farming that for literally years, then I randomly got it in a Raid Finder loot box back in MoP. I was so confused when I got the achievement!

@@garygood6804 its capped at 5-6 runs per hour. Theres a ton of running because you have to kill the ziggurat bosses to “unlock” baron and its an extremely low drop chance. Yes you can farm it, but its a terrible grind
Omg Pendulum of Doom. What a throwback. My vote for most iconic twink weapon is still Shadowfang. Shadowfang with crusader and a cruel barb with +15 agi and a Lucky Fishers Hat. Phwoaaaah 🐐

The coolest thing about vanilla is that the devs weren't thinking about balance when creating items all that much. More, what would be a fun reward.
Getting the tidal charm at 2am the night before the $100K Mak'gora Tournament will forever be my most hyped wow moment. I don't think there was ever a spawn that was camped so hard before.
Playing fresh classic with some Madseason vids on the background is as close to going back in time.
And its freaking awesome!

One thing about the bag of marbles: back in vanilla, it was not BoP. Our MT back then would make multiple lvl 5 alts and trade them to his main any week we were doing prog raiding. Pretty sure he would also hand them out to reliable OT/melee dps to use when he called for it.
The same thing with really sticky glue for Horde at first. They eventually made it soul bound because using the really sticky glue was part of the strat of killing Rag by netting his sons of flames.
The biggest loss with later expansions was how items gained during leveling became utterly useless in raiding. The fact that many random items showcased here had their niche uses made the world seem bigger.
I feel bad for people who played 2019 PvP servers phase 2 was a massive grief fest. In 2005, it was completely different. You still had the odd rogue trying to catch easy victims in inns or person trying to get easy kills in Felwood but it wasn't the squads of people camping dungeon entrances or taking over entire zones. The TM-SS war was a much more "fair" form of gaining honor based on GY proximity.
Missed this series! I don’t play WoW anymore, I feel like it vastly changed from what I loved (and not in a good way) but it will always be special to me

When i was 15 started playing wow in legion i remember coming home and booting wow and having ur videos playing on the background i watched soo much that i got nostalgia for classic wow by proxy and now i have nostalgia from the actual video series😅
The one I always remember is Linken's Boomerang. Was about the only way Paladins could actually kill someone in PVP in the early days since they had pretty much no other way to stop someone from just walking away from them.
I was a hunter back in Vanilla who had no idea what he was doing… I need rolled on edgemaster’s handguards because they were purple and mail and I could wear them… I wore them for a while and if I remember correctly lost an in game friend over the need roll
I loved the six-demon-bag. Iconic, strange, overall decent in pvp.
I would like to see more bag related items because it seems cooler in a variety package

Funny thing about Pendulum of Doom, it's at a vendor in the 20th Anniversary hub outside the Caverns of Time right now in Retail
same as half the other stuff. It’s literally every tier set and gag weapon from classic. you can get a ravager toy from the vendors too
The Edgemaster's Handguards were my first epic drop as a warlock in 2005! I asked a gnome warrior in the guild if they were any good and he said nah because they had no stats, so I always thought they were useless, but I held onto them in my bank totally unaware of their value until decades later.

Just started playing classic again. I have only gotten a hunter to 60 in WOTLK. But I was shocked at some of the stuff they allowed you to do… even just the amount of potions and abilities they would let you stack is kinda crazy
I'm glad you kept making WoW videos as I think most of us Enjoy your perspectives and expertise on all things Classic. Also I think I've seen the Panda pet never knew where it came from and I've NEVER seen that tabard or even knew it was in the game.
That episode of sputh park was one of my favorite episodes ofnall time with how much effort and work the studio put in and collaboration and communication with Blizzard. And when i found out the sword model was in the game i soent weeks farming naxx for it. Eventually i finally got it and it was the perfect sword for my dark knight
In retail, I still have the Brazier of Invocation which is part of a quest chain that was removed in Cata. Of the five locations which originally summoned ghosts, which are special boss fights in the vanilla end game dungeons, only two still work today. Dire maul and lower BRS.

The WoW tabard was given to the highest ranked player on each faction after sometime after the honor system was released. At the time the people who were at the top of the pvp grind and closest to tank 14 won it. On Burning Legion-US it was given to Bremmen, a tauren shaman, and Bof, a human warrior. Both semi quit after getting rank 14 until WSG was released and you didn't have to solely rely on world pvp honor to get rank gains.

I remember getting Deathcharger's Reins in Vanilla. Had to roll against 4 guildees. Being a Gnome Rogue on that thing was insanely awesome!
During TBC when Rivendare's mount had a 1% drop, it still took me 73 runs on my Blood Elf Rogue to drop, 72nd run the epic sword dropped. In WotLK it dropped first run for my DK.
@12:45 I saw the Reins drop off Baron while farming him for weeks with my rogue. I straight up gasped…and then died inside when I lost on the roll 😂
An item I have a weird obsession with and never see anyone mention is the Core of Ragnaros rings that dropped very early on but were removed. They were blue FR rings with a random affix
You unlocked a memory for me from inspecting members of the only horde guild that could kill Rag early on. That was back tier two gear would drop off all the bosses in MC and not just Rag.

One of my favorite aspects of the twink phenomenon was how dodge rating was calculated as a ratio of dodge rating to agility, impacted by level. Flying in the face of the typical level cap for the bracket, level 10 dodge twinks weren't uncommon as they could catch the then-unsuspecting (as I imagine now this is far more common knowledge) PvPers doing some daily PvP quests as they leveled totally off-guard with their 100% or HIGHER dodge chance... provided they never showed their back to their opponents.
What a time.
I will never forget getting Deathchargers reins in this classic era in p1 TBC On my 3.rd solo attempt. I was a glorious jockey until the dropchance was raised and it became more common.
I have the Collector's Edition from back in the day (long ago lost the actual box, sadly) and I can confirm that you actually get all three pets, the Zergling, the Panda, and the Mini Diablo. I still have them on my account today.
As a level 60 who leveled through HC, I still have my Light of Elune in bank. Glad I found no use for it, though there were some close calls.
When I hit lvl 80 in WOtLK I started spamming Stratholme with my Druid. Took about 80 runs but I finally got the Deathcharger. It was still rare the. So I got a lot of looks and people asking how many runs it took. To this day whenever need a ground mount it’s the one I use. Good memories.

Oh i have the collectors edition pets lol. Like i havent been subbed in a few years but the account still exists. My dad bought the game on launch but they were out of normal copies so he got the collectors edition.
Some fun facts about the pets:
-Initially you could only pick one upon making a new character, but once they made pets account wide, you got access to all 3.
-When classic re-released, you got access to the original collectors edition pets too if you had bought the collectors edition on the same account 15 years before.
-In like 2018 there was the Starcraft 20th anniversary event where if you used /salute on a starcraft themed pet during the event, you would get a feat of strength. I remember taking my zergling into antorus lfr and telling people to /salute it for a free achiev
The weapon skill mechanic was hugely important primarily because of the 15 point disparity between a raid boss’ defense and a level 60’s max 300 weapon skill being the start of the severe penalties in physical damage dealers’ damage.
The first 5 points of weapon skill (reducing the deficit from 15 points to 10) are by far the biggest bonus.
Edgemasters held its power position for so long in vanilla classic primarily because of poor itemization.
For instance, SoD essentially gave everyone the +5 weapon skill racials for every weapon type. Edgemasters were completely obsoleted by that. They were never a chase item, even pre-MC.

obtaining the Reins on my first time ever in Strat. because I saw my buddy in their for weeks, on my list - and I asked why he's their everyday and he told me he was tying for the mount -
so I went in, and got it. so I always had the Achievements sharing the same date as proof Lol.

Played Wow since near the very beginning, and in all those years, Ive never seen an actual Ashbringer live.
I have a lot of mistakes in Vanilla in my bank still, I have both the Ice Barb Spear and the Bloodseeker Crossbow because the quest glitched and let me select a reward TWICE. I used both of them in PVP on my warrior.
There were ONLY 4 Collectors Editions sold in Louisville KY, one of friends was the only person I know who managed to get one since most of us didn't even know they existed. I currently have EVERY collectors edition except the first one.
There was ONE person in Vanilla on the Dalaran Server that had Baron Rivendale's mount and he used to parade it outside Iron Forge all the time. To DATE I still have not gotten that mount.
Vanilla and to a lesser extent TBC really did have unique weapons - for good and bad. Getting one of the good ones always felt amazing, as they could often change how you played the game. Wrath onwards missed that quality - though exchanged it for more reliable upgrades and less auto-sharding.
I had the skull flame shield drop for me in AV from a horde reenforcment back in vanilla, sold it and got my epic mount :)!
I was new to wow on my first character and the first time I ever did the stratholme dungeon I got the deathcharger. Everyone was losing it
Even thou I got the Rivendare Deathcharger I feel bad about it, because I didn't know how special it is when I got it. I was just there that day doing something random.

I also remember farming out the Deathcharger's Reins after its drop chance was increased slightly in Wrath. I ended up getting the other rare drop off him which was the two handed sword. Never saw that fucking mount

I actually got pendulum of doom on my unofficial hardcore warrior. - So I was only allowed to do the dungeon once and I got it. Definitely the rarest thing that's happened to me in WoW
If you ever want to know what Everquest was like in the days before WoW, imagine obtaining the Tidal Charm like the majority of good items in the game.

Glancing blow will occur 40% of the time no matter how much weapon skill you have, that's also another reason why your white hit crit cap is 60%.
Higher weapon skill reduces damage reduction part of glancing blow penalty as well as allowing the requirement of your soft yellow hit cap to be significantly lower so you can gear up more crit.
Whether or not Outland was originally intended to be in the base vanilla game is still debated. The WoW Diary stated that the version of Hellfire Peninsula that's in the game files was never meant to be an actual zone, it was just a placeholder zone devs used to practice zone creation and making.
First expansion was planned to be South Seas until they rushed out TBC
Madseason, you have to cover the 1 in 1,000 2h sword that had a chance to summon a friendly mob and drops off the end boss of UBRS. My Dad won the roll on this in classic and it was iconic.
LOL!!! I remember my lvl 19 Twink warrior. Yeah you could apply TBC leg enchants on low leg items AND add in stat boosts from Brewfest I would hit 2500 health in vanilla at level 19.

You can use it for PvE too. Movespeed is useful in certain farms for mage or paladins to make good aoe pulls.
I might have some rose tinted glassea when saying this but the Maul of the Redeemed Crusader is probably one of the best looking 2h maces they have made to date

Haven't played since early Legion, started when Scholo etc were mini raids. Two mounts I always wanted. Time Lost Proto, which really irked me as I had a friend who nabbed two of them almost back to back before mounts were account wide. Other was AQ opening bug. When the server hoping thing became a thing for a bit for a second chance to get it, still no luck.
I had edgemasters drop in felwood back in classic 2019.. Insane drop to get!
