I remember when you did this one on your original channel. It was fun watching your reaction to the lyrics. At the time, the album "the final cut" had a great impact on me. Over the years, I don't think it has garnered the respect it deserves.

I LOVE the "sound" of the bass guitar in this.

I may be reading too much into this, but names for nationalities back in the day - John was sometimes British (John Bull, Johnny English), Joe was usually U.S. (G.I. Joe) etc. Only because other countries are mentioned in the song...

Roger Waters being angry will always get my attention. A savage depiction of life in Thatcher's Britain, which it turns out is not too different from the world we live in today. Bring the Russian bear to his knees - we'll see how that one works out. David Gilmour's last meaningful contribution to Pink Floyd.

      So far from true.

If Roger being angry gets your attention then you must be paying attention constantly because Roger is always pissed of and complaining about something. Roger has been living off his previous work for the last 30 years at least Gilmour makes new music and charts new albums every 8 years or so.

@@dr.pendyke4887 Well, Roger is touring the world bringing joy to the well-heeled masses with his singalong anthems of dysfunctionality, while David is subsiding gently into anodyne grandfatherly benevolence. Such are the indignities of age.

@@dr.pendyke4887 I suppose it depends if one thinks the world needs Pink Floyd music or the Pink Floyd message. Both are unique and timeless. I don't think gilmours musical contribution post Floyd lives up to that, whereas Waters message still does unfortunately.

Was this the only single released off of the final cut. Pretty much the only uptempo song on the album.

Bought this on 7” when it came out. Obviously “fuck all that” was changed to “stop all that”.

To me, it's the best song on the Final Cut LP...the album's name wound up being ironically true..shortly after it's release, Founding member Roger Waters left the band and fought with the others for years over song rights.

I really dislike this song, on multiple levels. I’ve tried over the last nearly 40 years to appreciate it and I’ve decided it’s not just for me. It’s Gilmour’s only vocal on this album too…. Which I would usually be all over. I just think it’s a crap song

It's just not a well thought out album. Bits and pieces of greatness, but it's a Roger solo album, which with the exception of the most recent one, is never good.

I like the riff and solo, and roger's parts with the female vocals. To me, it's far from a 'crap' song.

@@patrickrasmussen2666 I like the raw emotion from Roger on the album, where else would you find a whole album with the artist is singing stuff so personal to them and with the emotion that Waters does?

@@dixienormous2440 I like all of those parts too, and this is one of only two songs I care for on the album. I just can't get behind the lack of musicality with David and Rick missing.
