- This walk begins at the free layby at the top of Dunmail Raise.. Hopping over a style into the field where the path is obvious and ascends up the gill.. A right turn just before Grisedale tarn takes you sharply up to the summit.

Always enjoyed the walk up the side of the beck and a good way to get onto the Helvellyn ridge via Dollywagon. It's a bit of a trudge from the tarn up to Seat Sandal as you say especially in poor conditions. Still, its done and you have seen it in better weather. Look forward to the next one.
Aye am off this week and weather is awful the whole time.. typical.. 3 good walks remaining so I dont want to rush them for the sake of it.. thank you for watching 🙂
I did same Dave few years back but very windy just like that in your video and sat in same rocky wind breaker !
I do like this fell, quite nice walking up that beck.. plenty of options to extend the walk once up but just needed to get out of that wind eh.. Thanks for watching lad :)

Great insight again Dave. I’m up there in a couple of weeks. I’m planning some Eastern Fells but I’ll see where the weather takes me! Hoping to complete 13 Wainwrights to take me to 50. Matt
Thanks lad, yea you can do large chunks of the eastern fells very quickly.. however it has quite a few outliers like seat sandal, stone arthur, mell fells and gowbarrow.. doing these in any other walk just pushes the milage over the edge for me.. Thanks for watching :)

I did this last year and got sunburnt, not chance of you getting sunburnt on this one. Shame no views and awful weather but good on you for getting out, I have only done one Wainwright this year due to the weather. I have 45 left to do and wanted to get a real good start this year to finish in September as well :o(. Fingers crossed for a great Spring/Summer, cheers Alan
Aye I planned on being finished by now really but specifically my days off have always been awful so I thought nee point as It wont mek a good video.. scafells tmoro tho garn for 5am to beat the crowds as it's a bank hol.. but sposed to be excellent weather

Hellvellyn via striding edge is great you should try blencathera via sharp edge to great climbs
aye striding edge is done.. Ill get to sharp edge one day just to get the badge of honor but i think ive heard more fatal accidents on that ridge than striding edge of recent so always playing in back of the mind... Thanks for watching :)
