I have a 2017 FType V6 S and still smile daily. Lease is up tho and getting a FType 2020 V8. Test drive every competition. F-type can’t be replaced. The drama and fun factor is insane. It never gets old.
I like the One Take videos but, I do have to mention that I miss seeing the more produced videos. You are one of the few entertaining car reviewers. Keep up all that hard work. It is much appreciated.
cburner89 we try, we really do. but it's really hard to make an argument for produced stuff except in rare occasions, and I hate to say it, but every single press/cool car I drive (my mom's car excepted), I make a "pretty" film with for Drive. So it's not like we can go out again and make another full-day shoot with the same car. There are only so many of us, and so many days in a week. So a lot of the cars you'll see on drive, you'll also see a thorough one take video here. We do have some plans for some pretty films, but if we're gonna keep the channel free, which is the ultimate goal, we can't produce money-losing videos.
TheSmokingTire Maybe if the Drive+ channel had the same communication level with the subscribers that TST does it would be worth it. Paying for a channel that does not even communicate with paying subscribers minimum is not away to run a channels that relies on fans. I know JF was on the TST team in the past but he didn't learn communicating with subscribers builds a bigger base for more views. Maybe you should have JF talk to the Smoosh Gaming guys so he can understand the importance of communicating with subs.
You know Matt, half of the fun in these videos is seeing different parts of the world. These sceneries are absolutely beautiful and I have nothing like this available near me :)
Also yes the word jaguar is from Portugal. However the company jaguar is from the UK so if we want to pronounce it the way we do we will. Our company our rules. :-P
There is just something right about a smooth, well tuned and sonorous high revving V6. This video made me miss the VQ35DE in my G35. Despite the harshness it emitted to the interior, the sound on the outside was glorious.
I really like these Matt. You're one of the only people on youtube that has enough personality to where I can watch a "One take" video without skipping through it. In fact all of you guys at The Smoking Tire can talk for days.
A beautiful car that is quick and a nice daily driver yet you seem to feel it has a great sense of occasion. Sounds like a great combination. Thanks for sharing your mom's car with us as if we were with you to visit your folks for Thanksturkeyday
I guess the electric adjust seat button that lowers the seat on the door panel is too difficult to push. A nice video and Old Greenwich looks stunning. Certainly worth a visit!
your mom is probably be the coolest mom on earth, can't imagine a woman in her 60's driving one of these and crackling some exhaust sound even when driving slow.... very unique choice Matt, hope your mom gonna have some fun with the jag for sure =)
I actually really enjoy these little one-takes, it's nice to see a real honest to goodness first impression of the car without having too much time to nitpick all the stupid little details and convince yourself something minor overshadows the essentials of a car. I'm not a huge fan of car reviews that just go so far into it that you lose track of what the reviewer is trying to say about a car and wind up with a history/science lesson and a review of the options they checked off.
Just brought a 2017 in virtually the same spec and colour combo. Absolutely love it and you're right who cars if a Porsche is technically better this makes me feel good.
It is hard to argue against the V6 when it is still a fast car, with a great exhaust note, and the centre exit exhaust. The British Racing Green. Gorgeous
I'd say your mom is lucky to be able to own one of these, but I'm sure she's earned every bit of it. Also, the description on this video is great. If my mom ever gets her Corvette I'm going to have to be a good son as well and make sure it gets driven properly!
First off, the F type is the most stunning new design of the past 10 years. It is so perfectly executed. Second, it seems that dynamically, Jaguar has done their homework of suspension calibration. This may sound sacrilege, but I think the V6S is the perfect model for a balanced car.
When you had first said that it almost sounded like a skyline I thought that was silly, but after listening to it abit more you are right, it does sound similar to an RB26 from an R32/33/34 GTR. Great video Matt!
I might add uou are currently the best reviewer of cars on the free internet in my opinion. Also I am 6 2 and a good 50 pounds overweight. haterz gon hate. But ya I recently bought a nissan xterra pro-4x with manual, cloth interior black on grey. It's SO SLOW I was really expecting more from the 4.0 that really hates to rev above 4k. Like it sounds bad. but I got sick of not fitting into cars plus just wanted all around reliable beat around truck. Gas mileage, awful, ride on the bils, ehh, ok. I hate the tires it came with trying to find something with less road noise and that will last more than 25k. I have 9K on it now, I drive a lot on LI. I had 91' ZX TT back in the day, mint, had to roll out T tops off tho feel me.
Wow Matt, had no idea you used to live so close to me, love those roads (Dingletown is my favorite). If you are still in the area for thanksgiving or something you should drive my car on some nice twisty roads. I think it will be fun.
I'm from from fairfield county, too. I have to say the best roads are between pound ridge and 684; bendy and fresh-paved. You'll get to see Martha Stuart's house en route, as well.
TheSmokingTire I agree. Also like 301 Carmel to Cold Spring in NY. Limit is mostly 55 and you can then go up/down Route 9. Down over to Bear Mountain etc. Nice car.
Very nice one take of a great car. Love the color, though a wash prior to driving might have served it well. ;) Congrats to your mom for this beauty, may she enjoy it for a long time.
Very nice. I like your optimism about it continuing to work properly. Now since your mom was so nice to lend the car, are you going to wash it for her??
Great video Matt. I certainly love mine. The only option that seems to be missing in your moms BRG coupe is the design pack which gives it side sills and a different rear diffuser. A great video nonetheless.
TheSmokingTire Are they realy that bad? thought they where a lot better then the masers wher a couple of years ago! The Maserati wins me back because it is cool as hell and not the obvious choice. I agree the Jag is cool, but everyone likes it and that makes it a bit mainstream (not that there is something wrong with that). But sometimes I seem the only one that thinks the jag is not the one to have. (but I am a big Alfa and Lancia fan so that sort of explains it) I would love to see a review of a Maserati by you!
HugoElders no i that is not realy what i ment. The maser id not everyones cup of tea, thats what why i like it. It has a slightly weird design, that is why I want to keep looking at it. The Jag like an aston is Just pure beauty, but it does not have sone stanges. And I want that in this type of car!
Alex Zevallos I think Jaguar made the right decision. I think everyone who wants a RWD V8 either has one already as sales have been strong, or has another 6 months to get one. But for the mass market, I think most people are a bit intimidated by the V8 and the AWD system will give them more confidence at speed or in bad weather.
TheSmokingTire My perfect F type would be the roadster, V8, RWD, Manual. What a cool mom for having a F Type, and a cool dad :) I'm 6'1, the roadster will be great.
I think the I-6 in the bmw 335is sounds awesome! at low rpms it has the bubbles and pops due to its high compression and around 4500 it screams with its bigger turbo!
While I've never had the privilege of driving an F-Type, I feel like the V6S is the perfect amount of power for this car. The V8 would just roast the tires off, and that isn't very characteristic of a British sports car.
All of the reviews of the F type from the UK have discounted the V8 as being too heavy. They have almost all recommended the V6S as the best one to go for.
At the end stay straight, one of my favorite parts of that road there is a nice drop that's fun in both directions . So turn around at the State line and do it again.
You said suggest another great sounding V6. Although not a big fan. The infiniti g37 coupe. Saw one last night and every time I hear one I'll stop and listen as long as possible. Check it out.
Nice, your mom has some style :D. BTW V6 is absolutely ideal for public roads. Sounds great and the power is more than enough for public roads. V8 is just a waste of money :).
Yo matt man nice jag absolutly love the coler combo nd love the vids watch for ya all the time im from CT to so it pretty sick watchin your vids knowin were from the same place but keep the vids comin brotha love watchin
Good vid, dig the car too. Any recommendations as to good driving roads in the CT area? Also it would be killer if you guys did a Regular Car Reviews-style thing of your mom's RX next time you're in Greenwich...
Great car, great location and great review. I am a little bummed that headroom is lacking in the cabin. Oh well, I guess I'll have to "sacrifice" and get the convertible...
I agree, that V6 sounds stunning, and I love the sound when you let off the gas. But you asked for a better sounding V6, so I have to recommend you listen to a VW VR6 motor, they absolutely sing!
Matt, does your mom still own this? This exact color and trim I believe will be a collectors item going for etype prices in the future. Been looking for a 2014 model year to buy. V6 s has the best sound
Really not much weight difference between the v8 and v6 because the v6 uses the same block as the v8s with 2 less cylinders. I have drove the v8 it was awesome. Been tempted to buy one. Just afraid of the Reliability.

What the hell, that's your MOM's car? What does your dad drive, a 458?
His mom is j.k rowling
Jk trolling?
Ruined
bototheone1 An Audi Q7 TDI.
That's pretty boss of him. Too bad it's not a slightly older V12 TDI, that one's even more boss.
I like the One Take videos but, I do have to mention that I miss seeing the more produced videos. You are one of the few entertaining car reviewers.

TheSmokingTire That is understandable. I have heard you talk about this on the podcast.
Wish I had a Jaguar or a Mom.
or a Mum with a jaguar :) just nipping to the shops mum :)
I really enjoy these "real time" reviews! Keep it up Matt.
"I want to keep driving it, and driving it fast!" Best recommendation ever.
There is just something right about a smooth, well tuned and sonorous high revving V6. This video made me miss the VQ35DE in my G35. Despite the harshness it emitted to the interior, the sound on the outside was glorious.
Its such a great car, hope your mum gets on well with it and uses the active exhaust all the time. Now I want an F-Type even more.
Great timing, while you where going to mention the 911, a 911 came along on the other side of the road!
I really like these Matt. You're one of the only people on youtube that has enough personality to where I can watch a "One take" video without skipping through it. In fact all of you guys at The Smoking Tire can talk for days.

Wow, that's one heck of an exhaust note from that thing!
There's something awesome about Matt's Mom having a car with a center exit exhaust. Hats off to you, Matt.
I actually really enjoy these little one-takes, it's nice to see a real honest to goodness first impression of the car without having too much time to nitpick all the stupid little details and convince yourself something minor overshadows the essentials of a car. I'm impressed it's recorded without any major editing & talking at the same time. Very nice road line driving. Smooth, nice & natural.
I remember in your RC-F review, your mum had a Lexus RX. From a Lexus RX to an F-Type is kind of an unusual change, lovely car though :)
anotherone10 she still has the RX for utility and bad weather. My dad got her the F Type as a surprise for her birthday in September.
TheSmokingTire Best birthday present ever!
TheSmokingTire
That's nice. Does you dad drive a sports car or a luxury car?
That exhaust is amazing. Also wow at that neighborhood.
This is one of the best one-takes.
Just brought a 2017 in virtually the same spec and colour combo. Absolutely love it and you're right who cars if a Porsche is technically better this makes me feel good.
I gotta be honest, I've never heard one of these in person, but from video's they sound freaking amazing.
Greenwitch is a beautiful town. I been there last fourth of July. Awesome awesome homes and beautiful nature.
I love how he mentions the 911 right as one passes by at 3:55
It is hard to argue against the V6 when it is still a fast car, with a great exhaust note, and the centre exit exhaust. The British Racing Green. Gorgeous
Your mom's car?! Wow. She has great taste in cars.
Love the sound from the Jaguar, its addictive.
I'd say your mom is lucky to be able to own one of these, but I'm sure she's earned every bit of it. Also, the description on this video is great. If my mom ever gets her Corvette I'm going to have to be a good son as well and make sure it gets driven properly!
Wow, Greenwich looks like a pretty nice place to grow up Matt! F-Type is dope
Great instinctual road selection Matt!
First off, the F type is the most stunning new design of the past 10 years. It is so perfectly executed. Second, it seems that dynamically, Jaguar has done their homework of suspension calibration. This may sound sacrilege, but I think the V6S is the perfect model for a balanced car.
Digging these one takes! Love the sound of this car. Thanks Matt!
I love the sound of the blip in between shifts
i really like your 1 take videos and just going out for a drive like this time is cool too!
When you had first said that it almost sounded like a skyline I thought that was silly, but after listening to it abit more you are right, it does sound similar to an RB26 from an R32/33/34 GTR. Great video Matt!
The roads there in Greenwich, Boston tpke, and the drive up to Lime Rock are just fantastic
The envoirnement looks very very nice.
You can almost put it directly in a racing game.
Autumn is quite a picturesque season in Greenwich Connecticut. Very nice.
Awesome, your Moms a BOSS! Perfect color combo too.
I might add uou are currently the best reviewer of cars on the free internet in my opinion. Also I am 6 2 and a good 50 pounds overweight. haterz gon hate. those poppes when you release the trottle is so cool
Wow Matt, had no idea you used to live so close to me, love those roads (Dingletown is my favorite). If you are still in the area for thanksgiving or something you should drive my car on some nice twisty roads. I think it will be fun.
Definitely sounds awesome. I remember thinking the 350Z/G35 had one of the best sounds when it came out. But this sounds gorgeous!
I just bought one last week,,, best engine ever owned by far ! I love it !
That snort is glorious. I'd brake too much all the time so I could accelerate again and hear it more
God damn what beautiful roads
You mum is brilliant, driving such a brilliant car
That is a very beautiful stretch of road! great video
I'm from from fairfield county, too. I have to say the best roads are between pound ridge and 684; bendy and fresh-paved. You'll get to see Martha Stuart's house en route, as well.
William Powell yup, the stuff off exit 6 rocks. Also check out the 311 and 292 off the 84. Spectacular at first light.
TheSmokingTire I agree. Also like 301 Carmel to Cold Spring in NY. Limit is mostly 55 and you can then go up/down Route 9. Down over to Bear Mountain etc. Nice car.
Your mum has great taste in cars & the colour choice is perfect for a British sports car.....
I have to agree with you that the F-Type coupe is one of the most beautiful cars in production right now, this and the GranTurismo
Very nice one take of a great car. Love the color, though a wash prior to driving might have served it well. ;)
Congrats to your mom for this beauty, may she enjoy it for a long time.
Very nice. I like your optimism about it continuing to work properly. Now since your mom was so nice to lend the car, are you going to wash it for her??
Jordan Hilman yep I returned it clean and full of gas :)
Yea the roads in Greenwich are amazing. I think I saw you few years ago at Bmw of Greenwich; but wasn't to sure if it was actually you!!
Great video Matt. I certainly love mine. The only option that seems to be missing in your moms BRG coupe is the design pack which gives it side sills and a different rear diffuser. A great video nonetheless.
cgtpotomac I hate that. The car looks effortlessly/naturally beautiful but with that, it looks tacky and heavy.
The V6 in this sounds really nice but the petrol V6 Maserati Ghibli sounds as good as the F-Type, which I know is hard to believe! :)
TheCarGuy18 they do a good job making that engine sound good. But they lose me 100% at the interior.
Fair enough. :)
I would love to see a review of a Maserati by you!
hoperdepop I'd take the Maserati as well. I wouldn't say the Jag is mainstream, but the Maserati is slightly more exotic. They sound equally good.
Love the car and the one take Matt.
A red F-type V8 with a manual transmission might be close to a perfect GT-sportscar for me
Also lovely video!
How do you feel about the 2015 v6 getting the manual transmission & the v8 becoming awd but only automatic?
Alex Zevallos I think Jaguar made the right decision. I think everyone who wants a RWD V8 either has one already as sales have been strong, or has another 6 months to get one. But for the mass market, I think most people are a bit intimidated by the V8 and the AWD system will give them more confidence at speed or in bad weather.
TheSmokingTire My perfect F type would be the roadster, V8, RWD, Manual. What a cool mom for having a F Type, and a cool dad :) I'm 6'1, the roadster will be great.
What I learnt about Connecticut backroads: too many stop signs.
I think the I-6 in the bmw 335is sounds awesome! at low rpms it has the bubbles and pops due to its high compression and around 4500 it screams with its bigger turbo!
Would you say this is the best bang for your buck v6 2-seater?
For the performance it’s fairly priced. 0-60 in 4.8 is not so impressive
Awesome review Matt.
The roads around there look pretty nice!
While I've never had the privilege of driving an F-Type, I feel like the V6S is the perfect amount of power for this car. The V8 would just roast the tires off, and that isn't very characteristic of a British sports car.
Pretty sure I saw you guys filming. Did you take it on the highway? Im almost positive I was behind you in a black 328xi.
All of the reviews of the F type from the UK have discounted the V8 as being too heavy. They have almost all recommended the V6S as the best one to go for.
At the end stay straight, one of my favorite parts of that road there is a nice drop that's fun in both directions . So turn around at the State line and do it again.
i love the sound of that engine on the overrun, if i could afford it i would buy this car just for that sound alone
Love your videos, Matt.
You said suggest another great sounding V6. Although not a big fan. The infiniti g37 coupe. Saw one last night and every time I hear one I'll stop and listen as long as possible. Check it out.
You got those jj Abrams lens flares on point, but really though great sounding car
Love the color combo! Would this be even better in stick?
You have a very cool Mom!
Well at least we know the ABS works lol.
Nice review. Sounds great!
Matt - how do you like the mom car vs the Cayman S? Similar horsepower, but used the Jag is about 15k cheaper.
Nice, your mom has some style :D. BTW V6 is absolutely ideal for public roads. Sounds great and the power is more than enough for public roads. V8 is just a waste of money :).
true that. Not that I've driven either but everything I've read pitches the V6S as best bang for buck
Yo matt man nice jag absolutly love the coler combo nd love the vids watch for ya all the time im from CT to so it pretty sick watchin your vids knowin were from the same place but keep the vids comin brotha love watchin
Drove the base V6 convertible a while ago, worth the premium over a Boxster for the sound alone.
I recognize your road! I'm from Westport and have driven past your house numerous times. Who knew?
Please Matt, I beg of you, tell me what part of Connecticut this is! These roads are amazing!
Greenwich
Any update on the reliability? Heard a strew of issues from rattles, to popping the C-pillar, to the AC vents not popping up, etc.?
Good vid, dig the car too. Any recommendations as to good driving roads in the CT area? Also it would be killer if you guys did a Regular Car Reviews-style thing of your mom's RX next time you're in Greenwich...
Ross B Greenwich has great roads, as do lots of the other suburbs in the southwest CT area, and Route 7 up to lime rock is incredible.
TheSmokingTire Thanks Matt. Driven the roads to Lime Rock a couple times on my way there, good stuff.
TheSmokingTire Shit, just looked at a map. Never gone the full length of 7, will have to give the southern part a shot.
Great car, great location and great review. I am a little bummed that headroom is lacking in the cabin. Oh well, I guess I'll have to "sacrifice" and get the convertible...
LOVVEEE THESE ONE TAKESS
thats was a nice drive. liked it
I saw and heard the V8 version on the M5 today, it was amazing.
Matt, what's that noise every time the car upshifts, not downshift?
I agree, that V6 sounds stunning, and I love the sound when you let off the gas. But you asked for a better sounding V6, so I have to recommend you listen to a VW VR6 motor, they absolutely sing!
The Maserati Ghibli sounds beautiful.
How does it compare to a Crossfire SRT6 on one end of the spectrum and on the other end, an M4?
Matt, does your mom still own this? This exact color and trim I believe will be a collectors item going for etype prices in the future. Been looking for a 2014 model year to buy. V6 s has the best sound
You sir have a cool mom since that is her car!!!!
Public road middle of the day doing stupid shit in moms car, you just took me back bro 🤣
Your mom has great taste. I love the F-Type
Another great Vid Matt!
Im guessing the seat was all the way back all the way down? Also how tall are you?
Whisper it, but I prefer the sound of this over the V8...
Zanpa me too 100% V6 seems more suited to the car too, plus better weight distribution and centre exhaust seals the deal ! 👍
@@w1nky77 i also prefer the screaming sound of v6 to the brutal and throaty sound of v8. v6 volume is actually louder than v8 in the tunnel.
Really not much weight difference between the v8 and v6 because the v6 uses the same block as the v8s with 2 less cylinders.
I have drove the v8 it was awesome. Been tempted to buy one. Just afraid of the Reliability.
