    Something that might help those of you trying to get this. .. its 100% weight transfer from 1 foot to the other in the transition. Once you turn your foot backwards and you set it down you instantly put all the weight on that foot allowing the other to turn. good luck skaters. you rock Deb.

    • @JayRockDoesStuff
      @JayRockDoesStuff 3 роки тому +2

      @@MakerOfChase some of it could be muscle memory too. When your casually skating just lift 1 leg keeping all your weight on 1 leg while you roll. this will help strengthen your muscle memory for standing on 1 skate and will help your balance too. Keep trying you'll get it!!

Watched your videos last night to learn to stop GOT IT!! then took a break and went back and got the speed and can criss cross. Ice skating has helped but the WHEELS make it a whole new ball game. Excited for tomorow may just try the turning. FALLING well that is getting low but figured how to get up. TOE stops are our best freinds. Cheers HAVING FUN

    I have now watched this so many times but I am getting there! It is one of the few videos what explains that you need to lift your hip and point your toe. That really helped me. I just need to get better at bringing the original weighted leg over at the end. I have seen folks say you can either transition pointing your toe to pivot on front wheels or shifting weight on your heels to pivot on back wheels(for the leg/hip you are lifting) I think it might just be what you feel safer doing...so just tossing that out there in case it helps someone. with most things, there are many approaches. I find this video to be the best standard but again if you are struggling look at other techniques in case it helps. The mechanics of this video though are golden.

    The way you explain things is just SO HELPFUL! I wish I could take lessons with you in person; you're such a fantastic teacher. I stumbled across these videos looking for an easy way to refresh my 30+ years stagnant skills LOL I skated all the time when I was a kid even after breaking my right wrist in a bad fall (a kid pushed me hard forward while I was in motion and my front skate wheels got caught in a wide crack in the asphalt 😵‍💫) Anyway, I will be doing this video when I get home today as my pre-skate warmup for an event tonight in Yonkers NY. Hopefully I'll be roll-bouncing in no time 🤩🥰😍 Thanks for posting these videos. This city-chick-in-the-country with no skating resources close by really appreciates them ❤️❤️🛼🛼

    Thank you! I was concentrating on my feet. I can't wait to get out there and do the head, shoulder, hip move. On another note, I'm a righty and find it easier to transition clockwise. Maybe it's my muscle memory of turning my head and shoulders clockwise when I put my car in reverse.

      Awwww that is an interesting take on going clockwise. I prefer clockwise as well but the majority of skaters go counter.
