I love how responsive you are to your audience. Between this and a few other videos I'm starting to feel pretty confident about the swap. Thanks for your awesome footage.
Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it. I do my best. I Need to get back to making videos. I have faith you can do the swap. It’s pretty straight forward. I’d say hardest part is wiring. But even that’s not hard as long as you know what wires need tapped into.
Thanks man. No problem. The swap is no more but I got something else for the truck now. And will be building some other mighty Max’s in the future so stay tuned. Sorry for late reply. I must have missed this one.
Thanks! I appreciate it. I’ve been Slackin lately but been working on my mirage evo build so soon I’ll work on making a video on my progress. As to your question, your 2.6 uses a wide pattern bell housing so if you got a 2.4 wideblock from a 2wd truck or a 2.0 wideblock from an automatic 2wd truck that would also work. Then do a 4g63 DSM head swap.
The thermostat housing adapter is from jays racing. And for the trans I think the 1st gen trans would be the same Aslong as it’s also from a 2.0 truck. Not 100% on that though. I’d love to see a 4g swapped Datsun.
The factory engine from a 2.0L mightymax is the same bell housing. Bolts right up to the 4g63 since the 2.0 sohc is essentially a 4g63 still. Factory engine mounts aswell. Your 92 probably has the 4g64 2.4L or the 2.6L which are both wide blocks so you would need to source the narrowblock transmission from a 2.0 truck.
You will need a wideblock 4g63/g63b. Can even use a 4g64 it all depends what route you wanna go. The wideblock 4g63/g63b can be found in the mighty max with a 2.0 and automatic transmission. The 2.0 auto is wide and the 2.0 manual is narrow. Your 2.6 in your truck is wide.

Talk about your homies dedication bro straight got on top of the roof😅
That was my drone haha. Nobody was on any roof. That would have been legit though haha.
I'm wanting to do this swap on mine I have a 91 mighty max

Beautiful truck.
Thank you.
@@skywatergarage i have a max93 but 4g64 4c :( whit misfire
@@OTZOLOTEPUNK nice. Mine originally had the sohc 4g64. It currently has no engine in it.
I have a 88 4x4 2.6,, any ideas on what i could swap with?? Awesome video btw, i like the way you work!!

Will the swap work with my 94 ? Or do I need to worry about transmission and engine mounts
How did you do the wiring harness? What are all the connectors you used. I'm in the middle of my swap
I just looked up dsm ecu pin out and added power and grounds where they were needed. It’s only about 5-6 wires or so.
Is this a direct fit motor? No custom motor mount trans issues?
Yes. Direct fit. The factory setup is just a dumbed down sohc version.
i just bought a 89 mighty max would i be able to use my stock transmission and engine mounts for the same swap?
Yes. Aslong as you have a 2.0 in that truck you can use your trans and mounts.
where did you get the engine mounts
They are the factory engine mounts. The factory engine block is essentially the same. They just have different pistons and a sohc head.
@@skywatergarage buy chance you know where to find the The plate to bolt up my 4 by 4 mighty Max trenny can't seem to find it to the G4
what trans are u using for u swap ?
is a 1 0r 2 gen engine ?
i want to do same in a 71 datsun p/u
This trans is from 2nd gen truck just like mine. 2.0 narrowblock trans.
@@skywatergarage thank you
i need to look for one
@@skywatergarage and the adapter for the housing in the front were did you order it?
The thermostat housing adapter is from jays racing. And for the trans I think the 1st gen trans would be the same Aslong as it’s also from a 2.0 truck. Not 100% on that though. I’d love to see a 4g swapped Datsun.
@@skywatergarage thanks i order my trans today
Do you have powersteering? I dont and its hard to turn
Nah. No power steering. Just barely start to roll and then turn. These trucks aren’t to bad though. And my diff is welded lol
What did you have to do with all the turning?...I have a 4g64 mighty max
It was using 95-99 eclipse/talon wiring and ECU
What transmission did you match with the 4g63? I have a Evo and I just bought a 92 mighty max!

Will the 4×4 mite max tranny bolt up to that engine
4 cylinder 4x4 truck will require a wideblock. If it’s a v6 4x4 then no.
@@skywatergarage where can i find that part i have the 4 cylinder
You will need a wideblock 4g63/g63b. Can even use a 4g64 it all depends what route you wanna go. The wideblock 4g63/g63b can be found in the mighty max with a 2.0 and automatic transmission. The 2.0 auto is wide and the 2.0 manual is narrow. Your 2.6 in your truck is wide.
Will be doing that build on a buddies truck in the future so watch for that
Thanks realy trying to do a build like that i have 2.6 4×4
What gearbox are you using bro
It was a stock 2.0 mighty max gearbox
open headers?
I do beleive it was open down pipe there.
What ecm your using
Just stock ecm. Stock fuel system aswell with wastegate boost pressure.
What ECU do you use?
This truck used a 1995-1999 eclipse gsx/gst engine harness and ecu.
