    Awe to see this round again just put me back on the edge of my seat again"" Two awesome fighters in there prime. Respectively speaking. Hearns always so dangerous and with such a reach. Hagler " well his record speaks for itself. A legend in the ring. Just awesome.

    That Hagler remained standing after Hearns landed that first solid right cross (the one that initially stunned him), and eventually came back as he did, shows me that he had one of the greatest chins I've ever seen in boxing. (And this comment from a big fan of the Hit Man).

    I go back and forth on which two of these is the best middleweight of all time. I almost don't like watching this fight because I usually rooting for one of them in any other video I watch. Legendary round.

    Saw this when it was originally on TV, no $50 ppv and it's when boxing was still great. The middle-weight division was full of ass beaters with chins.

    I don't know what you mean by "runners" since some ignorant fans confuse running with footwork.
    As a boxing purist,I can appreciate all styles.I love the "guts and glory" fighters that bring the action but I also love the intelligent fighters who knows how to use their footwork,head movements etc that can show off their skills.
    There many versatile boxers that can do BOTH.
    The only boxers I don't like are the ones that like to clinch(hold)their opponents or run without fighting in return.

    unbelievable the way hagler ignored the punishment.Not sure how many clean shots he took, but this needed a rematch and a stronger hearns in the legs. I think hagler would still win a longer contest if hearns cant hurt him

  • @stell29

    If this Marvin Hagler had shown up for the Sugar Ray fight he would have knocked him out within 5 or 6 rounds. Same for the Roberto Duran fight...that one would never went 15.
    Hagler was an animal on this night. Hearns brought out Marvelous Marvin's best

    @UbruStar u score a round like this by seeing who through more power punches because thats wat it was, a power punching round.
    whoever ate more shots lost this round, which means hagler won the round because wen against the ropes he was working on the inside and gave very good punches to the head of hearns.

    Hagler's head must have had no nerves in it to be able to withstand maybe the greatest right hand in boxing history. Most people would have gone down like timber with that first DEVASTATING right hand by the Hit Man!

  • @lacombly
    @lacombly 14 років тому

    u r ryt bro! but w/ all respect to agler i think it wont be easy for manny to defeat him,coz he has also a power,but then again if pac is a legit middel wyt,w/ his talent and an predictble punch its realy hard to beat him.

  • @bandit7498
    @bandit7498 14 років тому

    @panfel78 You might could say that. Better Hearns was definitely more hurt than Hagler. And Hagler was constantly the one pressing the action. They both came out and rolled the dice this round, no doubt. But in the end of the round Hearns was trapped in the corner fighting because he had to, and was staggered pretty good. I'd give it to Hearns based on that.

  • @lacombly
    @lacombly 14 років тому

    you are damn ryt bro! in boxing u must not ever2 under estimate your opponent specially a strong puncher like agler! you must fight smart.and wat doyou think bro if pacman vs agler meets? if pac is a legitimate middlwyt?

  • @frenchgoldenboyfan

    Hearns was the best fighter of the 80's he use the wrong strategy against hagler. Hearns was a better fighter more skilled. Hearns was ahead before the stoppage against Leonard and beat him at the rematch. Hearns a true champ : all the boxing skills you can have hearns had it + speed + power + a pure body for fighting terrific long arms. I wait for a fighter like him for a long time but i think it won't happen. There is and will be only one Thomas Hearns !

  • @Tusc9969
    @Tusc9969 12 років тому

    You would not be wrong at all to rate Hagler over Leonard or Hearns.Hagler could do it all,and although he wasn’t as dynamic as Leonard he was every bit as effective. The problem is Leonard beat him head to head after having 1 fight in 5 years and you must remember that they fought at middleweight.Up until that time Leonard was a life long welterweight.Leonard also won titles in multiple divisions while Hagler just ruled one.That’s not Hagler’s fault but I think that’s why Leonard gets the edge.

  • @lacombly
    @lacombly 14 років тому

    you ryt bro coz hearns didnt use his advantage heigth,reach in and out,in power i think they are even.agler only apply his power if you fight him close fyt.

    Hearns killed himself in this round. He missed so many crosses it was ridiculous. Great round, but don't try to get inside and fight Hagler, you won't win.
    This fight in an alley would have been better, cause they wouldn't have to stop.

  • @lacombly

    hearns vs floyd or hearns vs pacman...agler vs floyd or agler vs pacman,if pac and floy are both legit middelwyt! wat do you think might happen bro? preety interesting ha!

  • @carmodifire

    @june1683 It's about style.Triangle theory doesn't work in boxing. Hearns just had the right style for Duran.

  • @Tusc9969
    @Tusc9969 11 років тому

    No,first of all,boxing purists appreciates all styles as they exemplify two extremes of the sport.
    They relish watching fighters hit and not get hit, which is the essence of the sweet science but they also enjoy good bloody fights like the "casual" fans do.
    Boxing is NOT just about "throwing fists". It's obvious that ignorance is rampant amongst the fans.
    Boxing is about strategy, proper balance,timing, combination punching, defense, footwork and feinting.
    A fan you may be but you're no purist.

    No era el peso de Hearns estaba muy abajo, por lo tanto perdia potencia y estaba lento y fuera de distancia y eso Hagler lo sabia por eso se fue a dar y recibir de entrada sabiendo la perdida de potencia de Hearns y que podia aguantarle la tromba de golpe que recibió.

    This round officially proves that knocking out Hagler was next to impossible-lol. Hell, not even his following opponent, John Mugabi (one of the hardest-hitting and most prolific knockout artists EVER at that weight class; aptly nicknamed "The Beast") could do it. That alone says it all. Felt kinda sorry for Hearns in a sense. He was actually in over his head vs. Marvin, but that didn't really much matter to him. He was a bad-ass like that, anyway. Can't say the same for Ray Leonard, though...

    @lsjed Sugar Ray Robinson was pound for the pound probably the greatest. Hagler had a difficult time with great boxers such as Leonard and Duran. Hearns ended up going toe to toe with him and he couldn't outpower a great fighter was a super chin.

    You again?
    This is the only fight where Hearns ever trash-talked before a fight,
    Still, it could have been worse for Hearns, he could have turned up out of shape, been completely blasted out without landing a punch of any consequence and then made some crap excuses.

  • @mb433

    if hearns didn't break his right hand, i bet almost every round would have been like this. hagler would have still won though because he had the better chin and harder punches.

    @lacombly Hagler vs Pac Mac if Pacman is a middle weight?...Hmmm that's intriguing...tough call...I think if you could compare PacdMan to Roberto Duran which I do a little bit I think Hagler would have to be very agressive and not foll around and give Manny too much respect...if he does you may remember how much trouble Duran gave Hagler..Manny would give him even MORE trouble

  • @Tusc9969
    @Tusc9969 13 років тому

    @frenchgoldenboyfan Hearns was a better fighter.."stylistically" but As great as Hearns was(and I agree with you) he still lost to Hagler convincingly and fair ..no buts about it. No sour grapes, all credit goes to Hagler! If hearns used the wrong strategy against hagler, that was his fault not haglers. Great fighters should know how to think on their feet. Hagler, Hearns, Leonard were all unique in their own way and there will never be another fighter like them!

  • @Tusc9969
    @Tusc9969 11 років тому

    Boxing isn't just about standing in front of each other and duking it out.
    There isn't just one fighting style to boxing,you have your tech fighters,sluggers,inside,in-pocket and outside fighters etc
    This isn't a slugfest contest, it's boxing.
    Why should Ray fight Hagler's fight if it's not in his best interest?
    As for the match, those "flutters" from Ray scored points and Hagler couldn't fight his fight or adapt. Leonard won.
    As for Mayweather, He's nothing like Ray.
    Ray had a better resume.

    you r ryt bro! hearns might win over agler,if he use his height and reach advantage,they are both power punchers but in to in fighting fight agler has the more chance of connecting and thats wat happen...being a champ u must use your head and skills wisely! not macho el macho effect! coz in boxing you might be killed.

    too old???... what about leonard, he had only fought once in close to 3 years. bottomline, hate the sugar man all u want, but the record still says he beat: duran, benetiz, hearns & yes hagler. simply the best of his era & a top 5 all time pd for pd great.

    hehehe,i dont think so in my way of watching this fight,the only chance of agler in beating hearns is knock him down to assure his winning! which he did,coz in the 1st rnd his already bleeding.if fyt go farther maybe that cut go worse n soon reff reff stop d fyt,infavor of hearns,any way we have our own opinion,peace

  • @Tusc9969
    @Tusc9969 11 років тому

    Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory.
    Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.
    Think about that for awhile.
    I'm glad you're not coaching any boxers because if you would to instruct your boxer to go toe to toe with an opponent who's bigger with a 15-20 lb weight advantage who on top of that has an iron chin,then you would be doing a HUGE disservice to your boxer.
    Look,we're going around in circles and I only debate w/boxers and purists,so lets agree to disagree.
