    I went to that fight. I had a bet with one of the army recruiters (for a can of pop) on Virgil. One of the best tasting cans of Coke I ever drank!

    That is what separates boxing from all other sports. One punch, in a fight you are winning big or losing bad, and you walk out a winner just like that. Kitchen did walk through some big shots from Hearns and never flinched.

    What a lot of people don't know is Kinchen was sick during that fight. I'd like to see this rematch.

    Kinchen lost to Hearns, but it was HIGHLY disupted. A lot folks thought "The Heat" did enough to win that one. Of course, this fight represents the extinguishing of the the fire that was "The Heat."

      Hearns should of been disqualified.

    No, I'm not kidding. You make it sound like Hill owned Kinchen that whole round. Hell, Hill barely got a punch in until the end of the fight witht that lucky shot. Kinchen's left hooks to Hill's chest pushed Hill across the ring serveral times. I'm not saying Hill didn't win, I'm saying he got lucky. Google it. Every analyst who's even seen the fight said the same thing "Hill got lucky". Same reason why the comentator's were shocked.

    Hill was an excellent fighter but this was a lucky punch. He may have beaten Kinchen anyway but think: Kinchen walked through Thomas Hearns' best right hands all night and barely blinked, yet a light hitter like Hill manages to wobble him like that? It was one of those moments where a fighter by chance lands the perfect shot. Like when Michael Nunn knocked Sambu Kalambay cold even though he wasnt a big hitter and Kalambay had a granite chin. It was a little lucky with Hill.

    I have the Hearns - Kinchen fight. I'll work on posting it.
    I know first hand that even Hagler wouldn't fight Kinchen. Sugar Ray Leonard told Kinchen the reason why he couldn't get a big shot. I give credit to Hearns, he had the balls. But then Hearns accused Kinchen of Steroid use.

    Cool, SwayzeOne, I'll look for that (Hearns-Kinchen). What did SRL say was the reason that Kinched didn't get a title shot?

  • @SwayzeOne
    @SwayzeOne 16 років тому +1

    Hill got lucky. This fight was stopped so close to the end of the round. Watch Kinchen's skills before the lucky shot by Hill. The decision on Kinchen's fight against Hearns was political. Kinchen smoked Hearns.

    Virgil quicksilver hill! Maybe the greatest one handed fighter ever! Saw him fight at the Bismarck civic center many times! Not much power; no right hand to speak of; but fast and great chin! Also a sneaky left hook. A master boxer who lost the really big fights in his career! Hall of famer? No I don't think he should have made the hall; but there are a lot of guys in the hall of fame that don't belong there! He never beat hearns and was knocked senseless by Jones Jr!!!

    Fluke. The better fighter who won later to be exposed by RJJ brutally. James spit Hearns’ punches like gum, Hill nowhere near the level of Hearns. It was just his night and not James’.

    One more comment bout hill! If he would have even beat Darius micelcheski then I think he would have been hall of fame caliber! Instead he made an excuse about an injury in that fight!!! Called hearns an old man! Well the old man or should we say the hitman beat your ass! Once hill tasted that power of hearns in round 2; bro it was not gonna happen! But he says he thought he actually won! Really hill? What were u smoking? But did go the distance and put up a decent showing! U lost to hearns just admit it!!!

    A true boxing historian like myself will tell u; hill caught kitchen cold! Kitchen didn't break a sweat in the locker room. He was bone dry when he entered the ring for this fight! But that takes nothing away from hills performance!!! Hill would have easily outboxed kitchen anyways!!! Simply put hill was way to fast for kitchen and most other guys he fought!! Why u think his nickname is quicksilver?

  • @Boxing1984California

    @shire2005 You cannot really say he beat Hearns when he didn't. Heanrs fought his heart out and won a decision. Kinchen thought because he hurt Hearns in round 4 and had a 3 point round, he could not be busy like Hearns was. I don't know how anyone can think Hearns lost that fight. Knockdowns are great, but they do not make a win if there are 8 rounds remaining and there are no more knockdowns.
