My tort refuses to eat the prickly pear, I live in canada so it's much harder to grow things but in the summer time I plan to hopefully locate some good grasses and plants to grow outside for a while. Awesome video!

Love your channel. I have an 8 year old Sulcata, about 30 lbs. I got him as a hatch ling. my question I have cactus growing here but it has spines. My guy knows its there and wants to get though the fence. Could he eat it with the spines? Keep up the videos

I live in Tx and though its pretty warm most of the year what is a cheap and easy way to make a minni green for some fast growing bushes and plants for my Sulcatas and yellow bellies.
What are your thoughts on feeding mushrooms to Sulcata tortoises? I know that Forrest dwelling species like the elongated tortoise love them but not sure about grassland species.

I just became the caretaker of several animals at my local University here in Utah, 4 of those animals include Sulcata and Desert tortoises. They have been eating a primarily produce diet, but I'd definitely like to switch them to a much more varied diet. I am probably over thinking here, but is there any common backyard plants that would be either toxic or harmful in any way to these tortoises?
my greek tortoise won't eat anything but lettuce probably because that's all they fed her before I got her (she is about 1 and a half years and I got her 2 days ago)
I tried to wrap a different plant today and flowers in lettuce and hand feed her but once she is able to smell the other type she will stop eating or even spit back the food if she ate the othe plant it by mistake.. I managed to get her to eat 2 bites of the other plant though and one of the flower.
idk what else to do.. I'll keep trying the wrapping method and also I will keep trying with different varieties of plants.
I still dont have access to grass but once I do I'll plant it in her
enclosure maybe she'll get used to it

I have a question I have a leopard tortoise probably like 7 months old. He only eats dandelion greens, I tried cactus, palets or other kind of greens and does not work he refuses to eat. Other thing he eats is strawberries but I only give it to I'm every month a little bit. Is that ok for him only eat dandelions? Or what can I do to make him eat more varieties?
I'm having a hard time finding the cactus without the spines on it, I take a knife and scrape it clean, are the cactus with the spines on them just as good? And I feed my sulcatas a mix of Mazzuri LS diet mixed in with timothy hay pellets , i soak it in water and server, and i give cactus without the spines on it, This is there diet during the winter, and i let them graze in the yard during the summer. I want to make sure I'm not missing anything, Thanks for all your great info and videos Kenan!!!
Kamp Kenan I wouldn't add veggies to their diet. Flowers and plants are best.

I’m getting a Greek tortoise in a few months and I want to know what to feed him, I’m thinking prickly pear cactus, grasses, and Hens and chicks (A succulent) all I know are tortoise safe I want them to grow in his enclosure, but also want to give him for verity, so what else should I feed him that I can put on a feeding slate for him to eat, from what I read most Greeks because they are small in size can do well indoors I plan to take him outside and watch him roam and eat the grass I have in the small back yard (I don’t treat the yard with chemicals) also how often should I feed him?

I feel so bad that my sulkatas shell has a lot of deformed pyramids... So bad that the bottom shell is growing up.. not up and out and this makes it hard for him to reach his grass/food. I live in Texas so he's out all summer.. he loves it

I have two small baby arizona desert tortoises that i want to be sure i am feeding the best i can. my local store has prickly pear leaves and dandelions. i want t grow some of my own foods in my greenhouse for them and maybe in their tortoise table for this winter season. do you have anythings you would suggest and or add to their diet?

Hey Kenan, I am a proud new owner of a Sulcata hatchling! I have been doing a ton of research on what types of grasses or weeds you can feed a sulcata, but I have a question about something you mentioned in your video. You said that you only feed your hatchlings a couple times a week. I do not keep my sulcata hatchling outdoors so he is not on grass and cannot graze freely. How often should I be feeding my sulcata and how much should I expect it to be eating?

Hey kenan do you feed tortoise chow if so how much do you feed I just recently got some and decided to let my hermann's have acess to it once a week. Also for people in areas where their tortoises have to stay in side for long periods they can buy tortoise seed mixes to grow in their enclosures

I received 2 baby sulcata tortoises. they are 5 months old and one weighs 2 ounces and the other 1.5 ounces. What kind of diet do you recommend for such young tortoises? I have been giving them kale, romaine, and green beans chopped up. I have been sprinkling calcium powder on the food a few times a week and they have a UV light that gives off vitamin D. as of right now they still have a very round smooth shell.

I've been thinking of purchasing a leopard tortois. my daughter and I seem to both love the species.. I do live up north where it can get pretty cold in the winter and very hot in the summer.. I would like to know what materials can I use to make the tortoise live a healthy and happy life up here.. I would like to build a enclosure for it and also what kind of diet and eating habits that would be good.. the main thing is wanting the animals to thrive living up north.. I think it would make a awesome pet for me and my daughter.. any info would be really appreciated.
