A great way to listen to Matt's clean vocals is to hear any of his songs live from the Grammy Museum. I'd personally recommend "Roman Sky"
I second that
Thats one of my favorite songs of theirs
Great song
i'm still waiting for beth to look at this Roman Sky video !!!
It's about age dude, u should to know that matt voice is better when he younger...
My god I miss hearing Matt and Jimmy sing together.
We all do...
The song fiction really proves that they go well together
12 years since he passed. It's absolutely crazy, I remember it like it was yesterday. Such a talented, cool dude.
@@TheJayLordx I wish i was joking but for some brief time i was genuinely coping in thinking he'd actually come back as the knife master lmao 😭
2023, me too sir😢
RIP The Rev.
The guy had an amazing voice doing the most epic back vocals while being a virtuoso at the drums. He was a corner stone of the band's creative process; their style def changed after his death in 2009 during the writing of Nightmare.
Imo they lost alot of their originality in the following albums. Dont want to sound like im bashing their new stuff, i just think its a testament to Jimmy The Rev Sullivan 's talent and what he brought to the band. City of evil, waking the fallen, Nightmare and The white album are amongst my favorite albums.
Check out their song Critical Acclaim where his voice is really put forward.
Another incredible talent gone too soon
^Came to comment exactly this^
RIP The Rev.
Didn’t get a chance to see A7X with The Rev. I saw them just after when Mike Portnoy was playing drums for them. It was a pretty emotional show. Lots of Rev signs in the crowd and for the tribute song they had a massive Rev backdrop.
100% agree with this take tbh. Dude was a fuckin legend.
Don’t forget that not only did Jimmy the Rev do the background vocals but he wrote the song and many others. He was a virtuoso and is lovingly missed by so many of us. We were lucky to have him but man it wasn’t long enough. RIP Rev 🖤
Whenever I listen to them, there's nothing that beats their old stuff.
@@sound.silence this is actually the very last song he wrote.
This band is CRIMINALLY underrated. they're basically the proverbial "super group" of totally INSANE musicians, but it's not a super group. this is the original band. they are THAT good...
A7x is definately underated in America. But for some reason they are very popular in countries like Brazil and Indonesia.
The modern equivalent of Kansas (I think). Time signature and key changes. I’m and old musician (71), but I so respect their talent and composition.
I can tell you for a fact that these guys are not underrated here in the United States or at all. As a matter of fact they're one of the biggest bands in this country. People wait on their hands and knees for new album from them all the time. I literally have zero idea will you people are talking about.
@@theahearn2658the fans wait. All the metal elitists hate this band and won’t listen to them
Oh c'mon, they're well rated alright. Massively popular that all of my friends who doesn't even listen to metal knows them.
I saw "Avenged Sevenfold" on the title, and I had to click and watch right away! :)
Their "Live in the LBC" concert just has to be their best concert ever. I still re-watch it to this day.
Edit:
I highly suggest "Seize The Day" from this same concert for more amazing singing from the entire band.
I do the same.
Oh shit I wasn't expecting this.
Matt's voice is so underrated.
I'd love for you to go over A Little Piece of Heaven but I'm not sure there's a lot to go over vocally.
It's more about the story/structure of the song.
Was so underrated, now it's fucked up
@@l_xapk Really? Last time I saw them on the HTTK tour he sounded great, better than he did the previous times I saw them.
She should take something like The Stage, he's improved a lot over time. A Little Piece of Heaven or Critical Acclaim would be great too because she could comment on The Rev's vocals as well
@@luksvasco1 Critical Acclaim has been my favorite since the first time I heard it.
a little piece of heaven live at LBC sounds better talking about his vocals, he does things that he didn't do in the studio version
Great video!
If you liked the drummers voice, I recommend you to hear A Little Piece of Heaven from this same concert. It's practically a duet and it's amazing.
I would appreciate some attention on Jimmy's voice because he was a great singer, composer and drummer and he died way to early.
Or Critical Acclaim
I second Critical Acclaim because Beth will probably hate A Little Piece of Heaven's theme and lyrics, lol
@@IFGchannel931 why?!? It's a love song XDDD
Fiction...
A little piece of heaven, is a masterpiece of a song!
I’ve listened to this band since I was 15. I’m 31 now and it’s so interesting to hear her describe things about Matt’s voice. Absolutley love her reaction as a whole. Seems like she’s somewhat familiar with many different genres of music. Definitely an intelligent woman.
You have to check out their “god hates us” performance from Rock Am Ring. It’s one of the most impressive vocal performances I’ve ever seen
Yesssss
His scream in that is fuckin legendary, I wish one of the big vocal coach channels would do that one.
The Rev was, and always will be my favourite drummer. Not only are his skills as a drummer and song writer, but his voice is amazing as well
Great drummer but the most special thing about him was always his songwriting and ability to be a fantastic composer of entire songs. Just a crazy good talent.
@@puppetmaster8551 I was going to say the same thing. He had such an influence on the song writing
@@spfadden082711 ya he was just a really talented overall musician and composer. Shame we only got to see him write music on self titled and nightmare, he only did drums on STST/WTF/COE, he really got to show his songwriting skills on self titled so it’s sad he died so soon after, we were robbed of probably so many great tunes that he would’ve created. Brooks is great in A7X and is probably the more skilled drummer and I loved the stage but Jimmy’s songwriting can’t be replaced because it was unique to just him, songs like a little piece of heaven would just never exist without him because that was some shit that only his mind would think of creating. RIP Jimmy, still managed to leave a hell of a legacy behind in such a short period.
Matt's voice is insane. Not many metal singers can sound as good after edits let alone live like this. His little random changes and flavour he adds here n there are so good.
We need more from them. Matts voice is just so so unique.
Best time at Avenged Sevenfold! Everyone at their prime, and "The Rev" on drums and vocals...i miss this!
The Rev ( drummer ) sings a lot in Critical Acclaim, A Little Piece Of Heaven, does a little in Almost Easy.
Thanks, this made me smile. A7X is a really underrated band. I know, they're pretty popular these days, I still say underrated. Some serious talent there.
And all the douchebag metal fans love to rag on them for some reason
@@SoFarSoGoodSoWhat14 that’s just cuz they blew up and became huge so the annoying fuckin metal elitists shit on them.
nah they overrated
@@adzharimustaqim316 would anyone care about a terrorist's opinion?

I love this band! My favorite songs are "So Far Away", "God Hates Us", "Hail To The King", "Set Me Free", "A Little Piece Of Heaven", "Stage", "Save Me"...
Dear god is a good one
@@Tupacandme thanks, I didn't hear this song
Oh how I love Save Me... although maybe it's a little long to react to
God Damn, Seize The Day, The Wicked End, Brompton Cocktail, I Won't See You Tonight Part 1, and Clairvoyant Disease are amazing also
@@donovonantonio2103 fuck yeah
The drummer in this video (The Rev) sang a lot in a band called "Pinkly Smooth" if you want to check it out.
Just love watch Beth reacting to A7X and M.Shadows' incredible voice
I love this song it has gotten me through some hard times. Thanks for listening to it. The emotion put into the song really helps with how you want the vocals to sound.
Found your channel from an older A7X reaction (Gunslinger) Glad you still come back for more.
The Live at the LBC concert is pure gold. Would love to see a reaction to Second Heartbeat or Unholy Confessions. But the song you might enjoy most would be Almost Easy or Beast and the Harlot, much more range from Matt on those songs.
Would love to see you react to one of their later performences of one of their "newest" songs (which are like 5 years old by now 😂). Their last album was very experimental and progressive and Matts has completely changed his technique since the LBC ^^ either The Stage Live in Hollywood (or literally any song from that show), or the much less aggressive but equally awesome Roman Sky (Unplugged) live at the Grammy Museum would be amazing to see you react to 🙂
Next: Avenged Sevenfold - A Little Piece Of Heaven (Live at LBC), The Rev (their drummer) also sing in this song!
I think we need a Pinkly Smooth reaction - The Rev's vocals are too unique to ignore.
No kidding
I fell in love with A7X back in the day because of their vocals. Glad to see them on here. Love your channel!
gave me goosebumps... wish I could go back to when I first listened to a7x
Thank you for this. A7X is my favorite band. I don't get the hate for the band or his vocals. I actually prefer the evolution as well. Screaming has a time and place. I love the grit of his voice as well as the unique nasality of it as well. Excellent breakdown a d I hope you do more A7X.
What an amazing video and breakdown of the vocals from Avenged Sevenfold! This was truly a pleasure to watch! Thank you Beth!
I love watching you do rock videos. The joy on your face is outstanding.
Thanks for reacting to my favorite band! "So far away" next, please, studio version.
Finally. I'm really looking forward to this!
You're the nicest, loveliest, bubbliest vocal coach on here (and I listen to most of them). I love the way you never judge artists or genre's and it comes across just how much you love what you're doing.
Keep doing it, love your work on Avenged Sevenfold
A band that I highly recommend checking out is Volbeat, I've seen them live before and they sound so similar to studio if not better. Their vocalist has a very unique range as well.
Dig your passion with all the different vocals, also dig the long red hair too 😉
What a great performance that show was. Perfect !
A comment you made about him having a lot of voice in his laugh scream at the end made a lot of sense. Matt has had a lot of trouble with his voice as of recently. I do believe he has had surgery multiple times. I’ve always thought his screaming sounded a bit unhealthy and even when he transitioned to more cleans his belts just had a hoarse sound that I attribute to improper use of vocal chords. When I have screamed or sang improperly the most common thing I’ve heard and felt is the buzzy hoarseness with slight throat pain. I’m not throwing shade at the band or Matt Shadows. I just remember him having a-lot of issues with his voice health. I miss these guys putting it music. Losing the Rev was a huge loss for us all but especially for the band.
The way you explain the talent/art/almost biology? of what so many of us are touched by with a genre that’s often looked down on is heart warming. I for one, feel understood by your appreciation of this type of music.
I flipping adore you lol
This was an awesome video! Great analysis and I love how you're enjoying yourself the whole time watching and listening. Subscribed!
He's my fav singer heavymetal genre
Please do A Little Piece of Heaven Live in LBC reaction next
Btw love your reaction when the rev's vocal comes up
Ahhhh finally somebody reacting to the LBC version. The best version!!
I’m not sure why but this is my first time hearing A7X live and they sound so damn good.
Yes indeed, they are literally one of the best live bands of modern metal 🙂 if you've seriously havnt seen them live then literally check out this entire concert (there's an AI upscaled version that has awesome quality) and thank me later 🙂
love it😘 more reaction to avenged sevenfold please👏🏻
RIP The Rev, we still miss you..
Oh, I really love M.Shadows voice. You should check out The Stage (live Hollywood). You can see and really feel what this song means to him.
I've been waiting for you to react to this
i love it when this woman reacts to avenged sevenfold. i hope that i can see more reactions from you on this band
I love your enthousiasm to all kinds of genres!! ^^
That's my favorite A7X song. And this Live In The LBC version is the best! I've got goosebumps watching it. Amazing!
So nice seeing you have so much fun watching them play this song. And yeah, Matt's laughter is contagious. 😆
Great video!
There's a few semi-isolated and live vocal parts of the Rev (the drummer providing back up vocals) on youtube that I would love to hear your take on- he has such a unique voice and its always great to hear a vocalist/vocal coach's analysis of his technique
Maybe react to his new singing technique around year 2016-2018, I just think that he doesn't use his fry style anymore since that year, very different technique.
Watching you analizing Matt's vocal like when you reacted to gunslinger live is very entertaining to me.
This made me smile so hard. Seeing someone just enjoy the music, picking apart everything and it’s all positive.
Thank you for this Jimmy❤
you gotta love the rev, but yea your insight is amazing, thank you super fun to watch vids with you
RIP Jimmy, you wrote a masterpiece.
More reactions of avenged sevenfold please
Greetings from México city 🇲🇽
Love this song, great review!
Would love to see you react to more of the LBC concert, it was incredible!
matts is totally insane!! his voice can't be replaced!
RIP jimmy ❤️
I saw volbeat and a7x open for Metallica. It was my first concert and the best one of the dozen or so I’ve been to. Id love to see a7x headline.
I've seen them headline twice. Absolutely worth it!
I saw them headline (2013) with five finger death punch and avatar opening! It was amazing!
i desperately wanted to go to one of those shows. i bet it was completely killer
I did too in Atlanta Georgia. A7x is my favorite and can't wait to see them headline
It would be awesome to hear what you have to say about Beast and The Harlot by Avenged Sevenfold too. Love this band.
Really enjoy your videos!
Loved this. You're so insightful! Please do more Avenged Sevenfold!
I love it when you Vibe to stuff like this 🥰
Love seeing how you’re appreciating this!
Best episode ever 🤘🔥
It blows my mind that so many people overlook this band just because they're so popular. This is one of the few instances in which they deserve the attention they receive. Such a talented group of artists
your voice is amazing
Please more Avenged sevenfold ❤️❤️
Loved your reaction Beth! Yo should react next to their So Far Away performance on Grammys!
Those backing vocals are as tight as.... Nevermind. This whole thing gave me shivers. And great reaction and analysis.

Beth Roars should react to ua-cam.com/video/A5m25_vGV-A/v-deo.html .. Fair to Midland Dance of the manatee
your instruction is also amazing
Sick breakdown Beth
Love how she’s really impressed by the Rev ❤️
Do the "Avenged Sevenfold - So Far Away" powerful vocal
The rev and shadows duet gives me goosebumps every time
Live in the lbc is amazing, if you haven't seen the entire thing it's on YT and I highly recommend it
Syn's "solo" is only on spotify though
I love this band
Finally....A7X! This song, if put in context, is a bit more emotional than "So Far Away" in my opinion. It's about the band's ex-drummer "Rev" Sullivan. God rest his soul.
She reacted to Gunslinger a while back too
@@coreyfrank506 Really? Gotta check that one out then!
Awesome song 🔥
Please Unbound By A7X..the vocal is baddaasss
Would love to hear your analysis of Scream, what I find to be the hardest song ever to sing live
Ok Beth, you got me there... I bounced accidentally on your channel and I love it! I will come back for sure and yet it is not at all the kind that I usually watch, but i subscribed!! XD I don't know anything about singing technique, I love music that's all !!! Continue your great work, it's really great to watch your passion and listen to you!!!
Watching these older videos makes me really miss jimmy rest in peace rev you were a God on drums.
One of theire best live ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow. Great pick, this one!!
I always laugh with Matt when ends the scream😂😂 it’s so good
I think this video was from the tour I saw A7X on. My one and only time seeing them live. Amazing concert. I saw them at Taste of Chaos 2008 in Dayton, OH.
I love if u try Avenged sevenfold-critical acclaim live in LBC
Ive seen them live enough to notice that Brian backs up Matts vocals, leads him into or out of verses that run together. The secondary vocal tracks are are one of the things that make this band so special
Matt.. he's a legend 🤟💯
This is my favorite band
Live at the LBC will forever be one of the best concerts of all time and I’ll happily die on this hill
I love your explanation
Thank you!
For me, the scream is less in the throat and more in the core. You can use the same technique as singing and tighten your core more and it will change the tone of voice from clean to scream really effortlessly.
There's other techniques. But you can see the change if you hold a note and slowly tightening your core and the voice will move to a fry scream. Works for me at least.
You"re reacting to one of the best songs ever. Now I know that the sound he makes sometimes is called Nosality. I heard his vocal teacher was the same one who taught Axl Rose
I enjoy her lovely pipes.
Thank u so much for this reactiob
Really enjoyed the video! Would love to see you react to Architects!!
