    • @jnagarya519

      The debate during 1968 was between either "The Kinks" -- "You Really Got Me" -- or "The Yardbirds" "inventing" "hard rock" -- a label that was later changed to "heavy metal".
      And they tend to think of John Lennon as a rocker though he was every bit as good, and sometimes better at ballads, than McCartney: listen to "This Boy".

      It's definitely not the 1st hard rock song, and not the 1st heavy metal track. There is actually no such thing, as a "first time", because it is all the result of a development. The Beatles (who, by the way, already released "Hardrock" in 1965 with "I'm down" and even earlier quite wild rock'n'roll tracks) often added "something special" to such developments and also had the fantastic talent, to present every style convincingly, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

    • @j.kevvideoproductions.6463
      @j.kevvideoproductions.6463 2 роки тому +1

      Nah. This was described by Paul as a response to "I can see for Miles" by The Who. Velvet Underground had already put out their first album prior to this (Punk-Hard-Garage rock). I would describe it as hard rock as well as Hendrix , Cream, Yardbirds. Hard Rock already existed. This was just the Beatles pushing the boundaries of the form. Also there was a guy named Link Wray who put out a single in the early 60's called "Rumble". I would describe it as "Hard Rock".

    They ARE coming like that. The Beatles did it ALL: heavy metal, proto-funk rock, Raga rock, Soul, R&B, Boy Band, Gospel, Psychedelic Rock, Avant-Garde, Experimental, Road-House rock, Music Hall, Cabaret, French Jazz, Folk, ALL of it.
    Only one artist I can think of has this audacious range of different styles and moods: PRINCE. And when he plays that now iconic guitar solo to Beatle George Harrison's While My Guitar Gentle Weeps, it's Prince the genius' way of shouting out to the Beatles that their wonderful, otherworldly range enabled Prince himself to go HERE, THERE, AND EVERYWHERE

      Speaking of Bowie, the Dude cornered cool when he first sat down to a piano as a kid, no doubt. But when he married Iman--the dude MARRIED Iman!!--the Gods themselves on high just gave it up and muttered, haplessly: "Dayum. How, er, in Heaven are we gonna top THAT??"

    • @renechateaubriand2645
      @renechateaubriand2645 2 роки тому

      @@donnydomingo9962 : Absolutely! Two songs immediately "pop" into mind, Raspberry Berry was a very cheeky, loving allusion to the Beatles psychedelic folk-classicism fusion, circa 1965-1967 (the video with Prince in a quasi-Pepper and Yellow Submarine costume further solidifies his shout-out); Pop Life and Around the World in a Day and so many others also convey Prince's shout-outs to the Fab Fah.
      But for me, it's Prince's wild eclecticism -- funk, hardrock, soul, pop, folk, psychedelic rock--his fearless, bravura embrace of all kinds of musical styles and cultures that most closely resembles the Beatles' own anarchic rejection of confining labels. There are many artists who will try a different style once and in a while. But only the Beatles and Prince defined their styles by having no end of styles, no end of experiments: they could revise, re-think, re-Imagine (oh, yeah, pun intended) because that was and will always be their particular genius. THAT is what links them.

Considering that 3 out of 6 titles come from the same album is astounding. And it's still just scratching the surface. The best one can do is just go through all their songs in the order (some albums just should be listened this way as the songs are directly linked with one music still fading and other already starting or simply the way they are connected, either by similarity or contrast).

    The Beatles only recorded together for about seven years and in that time, they set the standard. Each one of them had their own style that contributed to their success, even after over 50 years since the broke up. I would recommend that you listen to their works post Beatles. Paul McCartney went on to form the band Paul McCartney and Wings. John Lennon went on and did quite a few good songs up until he was shot and killed. George Harrison had many hit songs with his signature guitar sound and Ringo followed up with some hits of his own. Sadly, only Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are still living.

    Perspective there was no metal and 68. And Paul McCartney is singing this one The one who sang yesterday. And the reason he wrote this and saying it like this was because he saw a review about another song saying it was the dirtiest ones a song I’d like the reviewer did ever heard and Paul McCartney‘s like “no hold my beer”

    The Beatles were very versatile. Just listen to the White Album in its entirety. Paul sings "Honey Pie" which is a 1920s sounding ragtime jazz song. This was 1968 and Heavy Metal was not yet a genre. Anyway, the Beatles heard a rumour about The Who recording a very hard rocking song so Paul was inspired to outdo The Who. He wrote Helter Skelter which is the name of a German Carnival Ride. "I get back to the top of the slide"...Paul sings lead vocals and he is also the singer on Hey Jude, Let it Be, Oh Darling, I Will, and many other Beatles songs. You should hear Paul do "Maybe I'm Amazed" live from the 1976 tour. One last thing about Helter Skelter. Charles Manson, in his sick mind, thought it was a prophecy to start a race war. He believed The Beatles were sending him messages through their songs. So unfortunately, his followers killed innocent people in trying to incite a race war.

    Want versatility? Try Revolution Number 9- it might make your head explode though lol. Or something more tame like I Am the Walrus....

    Don't worry much about 'remastered'. Beatle remasters are not totally different, more like cleaned up, like going from cassette to CD.
    nearly every song style , including the ones they invented ( tomorrow never knows.....) How happy was I when they went back to their guitars from the Artsy stuff

    This is the Beatles responding to a pompous Pete Townsend proclaiming the Who had just recorded the raunchiest song ever written in 'I Can See for Miles', On Beatles Bible Paul explains - I was in Scotland and I read in that Pete Townshend had said: ‘We’ve just made the raunchiest, loudest, most ridiculous rock ‘n’ roll record you’ve ever heard.’ I never actually found out what track it was that The Who had made, but that got me going; just hearing him talk about it. So I said to the guys, ‘I think we should do a song like that; something really wild.’ And I wrote ‘Helter Skelter’.
