- Just like last year, we continued our experiment with growing potatoes in grow bags from Amazon. Using grow bags from Amazon has proved to be a really effective way of growing many different varieties of food in our small space and this potato harvest isn't any different.
15 gallon grow bags we used amzn.to/3AkAUEl

I love this. This is my first time of container gardening. I'm 71 and live in a townhouse. I'm praying for this to happen for me!❤
The way you spoke of God and never to give up made a subscriber out of me…made me cry, ty for sharing I am new at this ❤
I used the 100 lb. Grow bags from Amazon boy did I get potatoes last year. I love them grow bags. I used straight compost to grow mine. It worked great.
Howdy partner, i planted some of mine in pure Mr. Hanky this year. We are expecting a top harvest. 🤞🏽
Nothing turns you back into an excited kid quicker than harvesting potatoes..
Great video..thanks for sharing it with us all...
I hear and know the joy in growing your own food.God is good🙏
Hillbillies are not bad after all. Lets thank the Lord for giving us this abundance.!
@@user-vk5ws3jl1la lot of people from all different walks of life grow gardens.
The President Joke 🤣
I started my first veggi garden last year, I was soooo happy when I got my first tomato. This year I am planting potatoes and onions. Wish me luck!
I enjoyed y'all's video so much! Your enthusiasm and her laughter just made me smile throughout this entire video. I love that you are so grateful for your harvest. Well done! Subbed!

I agree! Very uplifting video🙌🏼
I always plant my potatoes that have sprouted. We eat so little of potatoes they always get chits, I cut them off, let them dry and them put them in a paper bag with the top opened and wait for planting time. I get potatoes too. Thanks for giving God the credit for the food you received.
I planted 2 idaho potatoes that were sprouting in the house, so I buried them. I can't wait to finally harvest mine. I am so tired of seeing potatoes at over $5/bag at the store. I so want to start having a harvest I can keep frozen or stored up so I can keep fries and pot roast fixins in storage for when I need them most. Time to start canning mine when I get that harvest. Ooo, it is gonna be the best year for me yet!
Enjoyed your passion for growing and your faith in the Lord for the increase!
Amen!!!! God will provide! Period.
He will always provide.
T hank you guys... I have my first batch of potatoes going and seeing how successful yours is and I feel even more excited for my harvest when the time comes 😁
Beautiful harvest! 👍🏾 👍🏾
😂😂I love you guys!
Yes....a 2 lb tater! 🙃 Dreams DO come true! Y'all should be thrilled. That was a great harvest. I love little ones you don't have to bother with cutting up, too. There was a little of everything going on. ♥️🙏
it was blessing to see those beautiful taters for sure....fresh taters taste so much better.....certainly worth the effort
seeing you be upset about the noodles but then immediately going to improve them is amazing and inspiring to me! i would've given up but you didn't and i really respect that! I love your videos. And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.
I just came across your channel today and I’m so glad I did. I just love y’all! Love from Colorado! ❤
Thank you! We're glad you're here
Ya'll are so entertaining, I loved this video. Great learning too. My first year growing some, small plant just experimenting.
Awesome the Father's so good
ABSOLUTELY! Can't do anything without Him
@@artofcreationhomestead I'm doing a similar experiment and will be showing results in a couple weeks
You are SO right - the Lord will encourage you and inspire you - lead you to information or products or teachers that will make you have a successful harvest. And your gratitude is contagious - I became as excited as you were. Good job.

New to your channel and ,new to plantings. I Live in Bakersfield, California I have good Summers, since looking at your harvest I have hope, yes God is good thank you so much
You are such a joy and blessing to watch
What a great video this was awesome! I'm living in texas and trying to be more self sufficient for my family and starting to grow a large garden in the backyard. I love how down to earth you guys are and look forward to more videos!
Last year, I waited too late to get potato starts. So I used organic potatoes from the store. They were awful. Hard as rocks and tasted strange.
This year I grabbed the starter bags immediately at Lowes. Planting this weekend
I'm so glad I came upon your videos. I had no idea what to grow next but now I'm on it. Thank you!
Thank you so much.
Great job you two.
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm a first year gardener and am doing it all in containers because we don't have good soil where we are. Started strong, but bugs/mites and soil issues have been an issue that is rather discouraging and also not knowing what to do or how to fix it because I'm so new to it. All I've been getting harvest wise is enough for a little snack. 😕 Doing my best to learn and I appreciate your encouragement to keep at it and just make adjustments each year. God bless y'all.
Keep trying....you'll never learn without making some mistakes
Wow that was great harvest!!! Congratulations but I knew you would do it!!! You 2 listen, pray and are Blessed!!! God Bless you both!!!
Thank you Lori, I felt good about it too but you never know until you see them come out of the dirt
This was better than Christmas morning!!! I also container garden and now I know potato's can be grown in containers successfully. Thanks for sharing.
Using these grow bags has been a game changer for us. Really makes growing taters and sweet taters more productive
Just starting to grow food. Thanks for the video!!
Jason and Angela, the next time you go to the grocery store try to pick up a couple of their canvas grocery bags to plant in. They are generally about 3 to 5 gallons depending on the store.. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm planting purple Majesty seed potatoes that I bought. I'll keep you posted on how they grow. I'm going to grow them starting mid September to see if I can get a harvest before the cold weather gets here in Central Florida.
That is a great idea.
I have yet to ever have a problem planting potatos or any fruit or vegetables in Florida at any time in the year. Any time is a good time in FLA. That is a perk we in the south get. Peace
My potato crop was from sprouted store bought. They did good. Waiting to see what my sweet potato makes. enjoy your videos.
I'm anxiously awaiting our sweet potatoes as well.....as much as I love regular potatoes they don't compare to sweet potatoes
You've convinced me to try growing potatoes this year! I'm going for it! 😜
Good job man. I have my allotment filled with mostly fruit trees and bushes. So i will be working with containers in between for my veggies. For ppl wondering why we dont plant in the soil directly bc its the cheapest option. Investing in containers is a future investment plus we harvest more from them from a seed than soil(like you mentioned the dirt can be re used aswell).
exactly...it is an investment in the future.
Whatever those two are taking, I’ll have some please😅
The little potatoes are the best in butter for eating.
All we are taking is Jesus. 😁
It is truly a delight to see your enthusiasm and joy. I haven't had the best of luck with my container taters. I am excited to keep on keepin' on. God Bless all y'all.
Just keep trying. It took us a couple years to get to this point where we got a harvest like this from containers.
Thanks!
Words can not say how much we thank you for this.
Nice harvest! Just harvested our Kennebec potatoes last week.
Wery nice and happy from Irma in Sweden
This is so awesome, you are our first comment from Sweden. Welcome to our channel.
Great job!!
Love your cap!
Thank you.
First time watching you guys. You are both great
I grow my potatoes in cardboard moving boxes. I run 2 strips of duct tape around them to help them hold up. Then just cut open and there you go! They last just long enough.
that works too
Great Video. I love the energy and excitement from both of y'all. I know exactly what you mean about being excited and worried at the same time because you can't see what is happening under the soil. I've been growing potatoes for about 3 years. Every year I try to find a way to grow more. I lost my seed potatoes when the power went out for 30 hours last year and had to buy organic and had a decent haul this year. Saved lots of seed potatoes for next year. Grew 3 different kinds. I find that the larger the container the better my results. I didn't have good luck with a garbage can but I didn't know you had to use a certain kind of potato. Thanks for the info.
Nice harvest 🥔🥔👍
Thanks for sharing! God Bless!
I grew potatoes for the first time this year in the ground but instead of hilling with dirt I added a 6 inch or so layer of straw...all store-bought russets and my yield was similar to yours. I think I want to try your container method next year but with straw on top of the dirt. Can't hurt to try, right? Thanks for the great video.
I think that is a great idea. It's definitely worth a try.
Very nice Harvest. God bless you both
Nice harvest.
Love this!
Tarheels!!!!
Its like unwrapping a secret Santa gift
You have enough to sell to a local restaurant.... Impressive . If I was a restaurant I would like to use locally sourced organic from small farmers like you
Love your energy awesome vid
''Hey look,, our President'',,, Too bad that wasn't a joke!!
Awesome harvest
Also to let you know when you grow sweet potatoes if you clip off the leaves you can eat them and cook them just like spinach
We always planned our potatoes in SOIL. Only dirt was under our fingernails ‼️🤠
I like your enthusiaim, I do believe in the ill do better next year and keep on trying.
I did towers last year and have very little yield. I will do bags and buckets this year.
I'm using chicken and dog feed sacks and five gallon buckets. I only have a small plot in the ground.
We'll see how it goes.
Our big crop we plant at my dad's and sisters because they have the tractors 😂
If you use the almanac and go by the signs, plant your potatoes when the signs are in the knee or the calf. Your potatoes will be mostly round or oblong.
Amen I think it's a good harvest
Had my russets in since mid april, and I'll leave them until the green wants to die off so we can get the biggest potatoes possible. This year is only a test, I have a tree size pot 100 gallon I think, its almost at may waste and the width is about the size of a semi truck tire so it'll do.
I call it my chip barrel because on the outer edges are 4 russian garlic's that I shoved in hoping to use one for a garlic aioli for fries. God guides us for sure friend, many blessing for this channel.
Awesome
That's a great harvest my friend🥰.. I really like potatoes 🥔..
Thanks for the great info.
You can grow potatoes in a srong box and its just as what you got just leave both end open
Heyi like this family anyone on Gos system is a friend
Glad I watched your videos, I waited too long to check out my potatoes and they were all mushy. Glad I found your channel. Thanks for the great info.
God bless u more
I get about the same results from store potatoes. So store bought seed potatoes it is
Love ❤️
I enjoy watching potato videos thanks
I stopped last year, but I'll try again..
don't ever give up lol....just keep trying. Analyze what you've done and see what you can do better. Ours weren't very good for a while but we finally figured it out and we'll be better off for it for years to come hopefully
Very nice!
That was an exciting watch guys. Good job
Good effort guys
What kind of potatoes did you plant in your grow bags and where did you buy them? Also what did you plant them in - potting soil!
Also, did you water them?
We planted kennebec and we used potting soil. If it didn't rain we watered almost every day.
Just came across your video and love your heart and faith! Subbed!
ooo we did grow oue potatoes in pots but now we have more room we grow them in deep mulch! tghey work amazingly in pots but deep mulch is out second favourite way of harvesting, as its so easy in pots. lol however, deep mulch allows better water retention and is soooo much cheaper than bying compost lol
well done form Australia!
4:25 - got the TU from me for that joke.
What kind of fertilizer do you use? I typically just use 10.10.10 But being root crop I might need to change that up next year.
I'll use different fertilizers from year to year but with any root crop you'll want a lower amount of nitrogen and about 2 times the amount of phosphorus and potassium....like 5-10-10
Amen
It beat buying from the store and depending on someone else for your food.
any potatoes that shoot in my pantry i plant,,, year round, where we are you can do that so i do... not waste here. And i would definitely put more holes in your totes, the soil is very wet,. well done i say!
Good job gardening potatoes are my favorite food I really enjoy your videos❤
If you can teach him how they do cross crops and how they can
Very nice show you give os
Should I wait to plant potatoes in zone 7 till March or can I plant them now in bags then bring them inside with growlights?
The think about digging or harvesting from a container is like a treasure hunt you never know what you'll find so great good job!! But I have to ask what type of soil you used?
My parents also told me you can't grow what you eat so it's been hard trying to reverse that ...
How many seed potatoes did you plant in each tote and were they whole or did you cut some into pieces? I just harvested a tote of Yukon Golds here in Southern California and although they did ok, yours were more productive. Dumping those totes and hunting down the “taters” is just as fun for me as it is the kids!
That’s awesome! Can I ask how many seed potatoes you put in each bag?
We put 3 seed potatoes per bag. I might have said that we used 15 gallon bags but we didn't....they were 10 gallon bags, BUT I do think that 3 seed potatoes in a 15 gallon bag would be better.
@@artofcreationhomestead Great, thank you for the reply!
Just found u guys. Subscribing now! GOD BLESS YA'LL. WAY TO GO BRO!!!
Thank you! We appreciate ya! God bless
@@artofcreationhomestead and i really appreciate the help about taters in 5 gal buckets, i dont have much room and didnt think i could grow them. I have to tell u,... it took about 9 days for the sprouts to poke through😆 at first i thought ...ruhroh! But, just like u said..here they come😁 thanks again so much.....and of course i asked GOD To bless it....and everything i planted this year is the best in ive ever had!! And that goes back 9 years. 👍👍👍
