Right?!? As a former piccolo player myself who performed this in marching band (to this day, my favorite piece I ever played), outdoor concerts lend themselves to falling out of tune. This was spectacular!
This reminds me as a College ROTC Cadet ( Reserve Officers Training Course)This is played by a Philippine Army Band/ Philippine Marine Band.We have very good Military Marching Bands in the Philippines copying US Military Marches...
A wonderful, truly memorable performance - as close to perfection as any accomplished musician would admit. I regret that it took me six years to find this gem. God bless you!
Be kind to your friends in the swamp for the weather is cold and damp, and a duck may be someone's mother. That's how I remember the words. And, thanks to the "Gyrines" for this memorable performance.
Es una de las mejores interpretaciones que he escuchado en mi vida (67 años) de esta marcha de Sousa. Muchas gracias por subir este vídeo. Un saludo desde Bogotá, Colombia.
As a French horn player,I've seen the sheet music for this and it SUCKS. All the French horns just get upbeats and downbeats. I recently play America Exultant by Henry Fillmore at a music festival in Indianapolis and it was the same thing. Why do marches have to be so boring?!

We may be coming to the end of the line for our Republic. I love America and had tears in my eyes knowing its history, our freedom and the fact that it may be ending. But I will fight the enemies foreign AND DOMESTIC to my last breath for the country I love.

J P Sousa was a great patriot & composer & hence he could compose such great marches which are evergreen even today. But USA's reign as a super power so far is coming to an end because of the poor leadership qualities of successive Presidents. There are only four or five great Presidents in the history of America who could make substantial contributions to America & globally.
and that's exactly how a Sousa march should be performed-well done guys !!!
the piccolos were so in tune!! one of the best recordings ive seen!

I'm a trombone player and I love that part where we stand up in the end
Low brass is the best brass!
