I’d like to add that which figures you use won’t determine the quality of your drawing, but the nicer ones hold their poses better and have better articulation. Using the wide FOV option on your phone helps with the scale issue imo but that may be a taste thing (I even have some super wide FOV and fisheye lenses I use when I really want to push things)
New video!!! NICE! Thank you so so much! I never liked the wooden figure: it feels too simplified and weirdly shaped. Some drawing figures are so so much better now, with very evocative shapes. Some are even quite cheap!
Action figures are also really important for 3d animation as well. In 3d, things can bend in weird ways. So having a physical figure with limited movement helps a lot.
I can only imagine how busy you must be with work and your own projects. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your hard-earned experience. These videos solve problems I have struggled with for years, and I appreciate them very much.

Señor Dong gracias por traer todos estos conocimientos para los que amamos la animación, algunos no sabemos por donde comenzar o que significan ciertos caracteres, sus videos me han sido útiles. un abrazo y Dios lo bendiga
Your videos are always so helpful to me as an animation student! Do you have any tips on keeping objects/figures consistent during animation? It's my biggest struggle right now.
Im not an animator and have no clue about animation but why dont you try keyframes? Try splitting your animation into key frames that are the apex of a movement or a change in direction. Then after setting those key frames, fill in the gaps inbetween. It would probably be alot easier to animate movement when you know where the movement is going and would help in consistency. It would also help getting the time of each movement right when you can just shift the keyframes around to preview how it feels before you actually do the bulk of the work and notice it doesnt feel right. Also onion skins or whatever you call seeing the opaque preview of other frames to work around (you probably are doing this but there are those cases of people not knowing this crucial tool). Good luck. I have alot of respect for animators as drawing one picture is hard enough for me, drawing hundreds and keeping it consistent seems really difficult.
@@ImNotFine44 Yeah, I'm familiar with keyframes. I'm moreso asking about keeping forms consistent during the layout phase of animation. I find that it's really difficult when a character is moving through perspective/various poses to keep everything looking uniform while also keeping the animation itself fluid and conforming to principles like squash and stretch. Hopefully Dong sees this comment and might have tools or things to practice to help!
Dong might have a better tip, but I learned that there's no harm in putting guidelines to keep consistency. Say a bean bag is being pushed along the ground in perspective - you can make a triangle in a new layer and eyeball the size and view of the bean bag inside that trajectory, and reference that no matter how much squash and stretch happens.
I admire your work. I just discovered your channel and I'm surprised at what a masterpiece it is. Thank you very much and I admire you very much. あなたの仕事を尊敬します。あなたのチャンネルを発見したところですが、本当に素晴らしいチャンネルで驚きました。とても感謝していますし、とても尊敬しています
Thank you again for this awesome video! I always love to learn about animation to use it on my own. What I struggle with tho, is how to animate one complex action/movement to another one. Like for example if the last girl would lean forward towards the camera. How that would look like.
Great video! I've always been scared of using csp's 3d features but I suppose its really not all that different from 3d layout. Could you do a video here, or on the Patreon covering your approach to drawing simplified hands for animation?
Great video!! Could you explain in the future how should one export the PNG's? Like, do you need to have a folder for each animation cel + the BG(layout) + any camera movements (if there is any) + timesheet? I always get confused at this...
Hey I want to start getting into animation and I came across this video randomly though I am glad I did find this channel lemme just say ......... animation looks hard 😅😅😅😅I am not sure I can learn all these things
Depends on the person. Some people still animate on paper but most animate digitally. The most common softwares seem to be TVPaint, Clip Studio Paint, and Adobe Animate
Hi! Dong Chang, firstly thank you for sharing I'm your video fan. Your videos inspire me to start learning 2d animation, but I have something I don't understand about the set as a reference layer with an animation folder can you make the video explain for
Thank you very much, sensei. I admit I feel extremely guilty when tracing over 3D models (like in Clip Studio). Do you think it's detrimental to my art progress?
Not sure if you will reply but have you fully transitioned to CSP? I’m having a hard time deciding if Opentoonz or CSP would be best. I hear animating in CSP is like Photoshop in the worst ways but then I see you and others make it work? It seems easier to add more fx on Toonz
When I want to move a character's hair with the wind and make it a loop for about five or six frames and his clothes move in a loop of ten frames, how do I do it in one cell?
Do you still use CSP version 1? I personally never upgraded from version 1 because I dont agree with some of the changes they've made. I'd be interested in knwowing if that's a common mindset even professionals share
Good evening sir am Daniel and I Really love animation and the way you do it I wanna ask is it possible you have an animation course with compiled video tutorial assignment and work flow from you It will be a dream come true

i agree about the wooden figure..
too confusing for my brain
maybe it was just mine but it never stayed how i set it 😅 always shifting
It's funny seeing him doing anime notations. They're not any animation frames but he still numbers them as such
The workflow of an animator sure is amazing, I learned a lot.

Omg when you draw princess hand without tracing 3d, i really love it!
Dude this is so helpful. Understanding the resources you have as an artist and how to use them is huge.
I just got this channel recommended and these are some really easy to understand tutorials, will check the other ones as well!
I didn't knew you could do that with Clip studio that's just amazing!

Dear Animater-Sama, may I please know what brushes you are using in CSP? 🙏❤️
El secreto esta en dibujar figuras geométricas
