I always knew Japanese animation was magical.. and it truly is... the amount of work and skill that goes into something small like that... I'm in awe, every time.
Hey, Dong! I'm just a begginer who wanted to "bring to life"/ animate one favorite character from their mind. Whatching your videos helped me a lot to understand animation basics and also appreciate animators' work much more than ever. Thank you for sharing your experience!
I just recently struggling with my keyframe timing and breakdown then this video showed up in my feed! Great tutorial, Great work, Great animator! As always!
Great video as always. I like that you did all the poses out first before adding details like the hair, outfits. I think a lot of newbie animators try to draw the complete shot out first and get stuck in all the details. Your system is clearly the better way to do it :).
I started taking interest in animation from various of animated shows I watched. I was wondering which software are strong enough to make an action packed series. That’s what I hope to be making in the future.
A few days ago I was thinking about leveling up my animation skills, so I wanted to look into dynamic animation, sakuga, and composition. Then Dong makes a video about what I am looking for. Am I living in a simulation? The timing for this video is impeccable
this is so cool and helpful!!!! maybe, you could do another video showing us how inbetweens/cleanup is done> ? i am so so curious to see how that would happen in the pipeline based off this rough animation. it looks so good!
"It's much more complicated" You know, I always figured it would be a lot easier cause your spacing can be so much bigger and the inbetweens become more forgiving.
amazing video as always!! i have a question: how animation with water or mud are made? for example if a character have to go across a place with water or mud until their waist, those constant waves from the movement are animated in the same layer of the character or separate? same with the actually water/mud
they don't lol Check how much an average VA gets paid vs an average Animator reputation and stuff comes into play for both fields so more reputable animators are more expensive to hire hence why ppl say "damn the budget stepped up" when they see good animation
It's more "why voice actor gets more credits than animators" No one will comment on who animated specific scenes but will always remember the voice actors because they are advertised upfront.
I'm planning to make an anime adaption for my own manga soon and already experienced in drawing and 3D, do you think it's doable by one person and still high quality? also my characters anatomy is way simpler than humans so faster to animate
I'm not sure if you have time to look at comments but my dream when I grow older is to become an animator working in a studio, is there any tips or suggestions that you can give for people just starting out?
As a noob artist, there will be times where I will be literally copying every frame, because I will be studying the fluency of the animation, understand the camera works, same time trying to mimic your style of drawing. So I will result in copy animation (of course without publishing due to copyright) to better my skills and abilities.
Animators are using these lines before actual coloring to indicate Highlights and Shadows and/or gradient. Blue lines : Shadows outlines Red lines : Highlights outlines Green lines : Gradient indicator And they also commonly fill in those colors, which varies on our individual opinion. For example : (For the gradient, you don't really have to fill in.) Purple : Hair Shadow Yellow : Highlights fill in Light/Dark Green : Saturation Lighter Blue : Others (Clothes, skin...) Slight darker Yellow : Skin Shadows It really varies depending on you. I honestly use pink for accessories and orange for skin Shadows. It's very up to you to choose how many fill in colors, outlines you are comfortable with and in which spot you put them.

Starting with simple stick figure animation with physical camera location for these is smart
All work stops when DC puts a vid out lol! 🤣

Thanks for the amazing videos! They really help~

Huh, this video would've been really handy a couple days ago as I was just practicing animating a dynamic camera

Awesome!!!
Super good work and helpful I was wondering if there’s gonna be how to animate crowds or groups of people with action/dynamic movements?
Amazing tutorial... Thanks
9:30 hmm.. i thought the movement of her hair is follow-through while a secondary action is about acting, right? 🤔
I love you man
this guy is so bob that he didn't even use the onion skin in the rough pass 😂

Could you upload full time when you did this sakuga, please? I'll be thankful 🥺🌷
Any tips for keeping the consistency in the fine lines?
This inspires me to exit the animation industry 🥵
please mention how much time did you take for drawing all this. we beginners dont understand how much time should we take for an average scene
The software is clip Studio?
Yep
hey dong, why don't you make a tutorial on overlapping cuts? I think it's something useful to know.
Thank you
I always mess up with how to time these shots with the keys. I need to practice more ig but it’s still confusing how to number the frames
i want to ask, if the zoom in way too deep in the storyboard do we need to draw in high resolution canvas or let the clean up artist do the work?

I was wondering Dong if people buy Blu-ray DVD from the favourite anime series, does the animators vocal actors get some short of support?

I do the samething.. cuz i found myself learn more effectively by doing it in this way
what button do you press to flip threw frames quickly? i keep using my mouse to click back and forward of frames and its annoying lol
Probably depends on the software you use. You can google search the hotkeys based on that.
Why animator using yellow, pink, blue for the first time of colouring?
