Hi Peter, hope you are feeling better today. Thanks for sharing the wonderful photo walk, I would love to learn more about the black mist filters you mentioned at the start if you have time in a future video. Good to hear the Fujifilm X system seems to be working out well, I use the X-T series along with Olympus, both excellent systems.
I will make some content about the mist filters later this year. I have made one about H&Y Black Mist filter a few years ago: ua-cam.com/video/XBZdllBKZzM/v-deo.html
Never owned a Fujifilm camera. The X-S20 + the pancake lens, is something I would consider for street use, one fine day. My latest purchase was the Leica 15mm f1.7 for my Lumix GX-9, which is working out well, as long as I am in close enough. Got to wrap my mind around this wide focal length. Also got the 28mm RF for my Canon RP -- it is good, but I am thinking I like the MFT lens better. If nothing else, the Leica 15mm with the aperture ring is just pretty cool -- throw-back looking lens. OK sharp to really sharp even to the edge when stopped down. If going Fujifilm, something to get me to the 50 and another around 35mm field of view would be neat in pancake lenses. Take care, Loren
It seems to be a very good Camera and choice for your work Peter! 👍🏼 I'm very interested in seeing your path and your experiences with Fuji, which seems like an excellent option. I am/was an Olympus fan, but now, if it weren't for the new Panasonic releases, I would have abandoned the system. I have the OM-1, OM-5 and even the brand new TG-7, and although they are all great, I have not felt confident that OMDS will continue to develop their products, provide satisfactory FW Updates and innovative new products. So far, and with few exceptions, they seem to be reheating cold coffee! The OM-5, TG-7 and LS-P5 are NOT at all innovative and that's a shame!! I continue to have a ray of hope that at this moment they are still taking advantage of the stocks they inherited to make cash, but that at some point they will innovate again. But it's not what it seems! On the other hand, the new G9ii rekindles hopes for the MFT system. It looks like an excellent camera that raises the expectation of seeing a GX10, a new GM and even a GH7. It all depends on new sensors!! Particularly I would like to see, in addition to the Lumix described above, new OM Cameras, such as the OM-1X (24mp BSI stacked Sensor capable of 4K 120 and 5.7k 60 Open Gate), OM-3 (OM-5 in Metal Body and OM -1 Sensor and Menu) and Pen Fii. New Lens Roadmap would also help!
OM's sensor provides better results than Fuji's Xtrans 26Mpix one ... the resolution, amount of details, and dynamic range are much better with Oly. I had XT30, XT2, XT3 and completely moved to the Olympus when compared side-by-side. Kept XE3 just to be able to use 35mm f1.4 lens :)
It is a very good camera. I have not seen any problems with dynamic range with my X-S20. The difference can be there or not. I have not tested them side-by-side.
Interesting analysis and commentary on this Fuji camera whcih looks to be very capable; I continue to use my OM5 very happily and find it suits my needs in nearly all situations .
Great video, Peter! I grow more and more interested in using the X-S10 or X-S20! I didn't realize it's SMALLER than the OM-5! Very surprising! Was holding it for long periods comfortable? Actually, don't answer that...I'll wait for your review!
X-S20 is smaller they way I have my OM-5 with the extra grip. It is still quite ok to hold. I added the Smallrig Leather case. It makes the grip slightly bigger. X-S10 does not have the video qualities taht X-S20 has. Other than that I have heard that X-S10 is quite ok. No personal experience of X-S10.
Get well soon. My week started at home in Orlando then off to San Francisco, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Buffalo NY and now back home with a flu. Started feeling weak, dizzy and fatigued in Kansas City. . 🤒 I’m too old for this heavy a work schedule.
Hope you feeling better now. Getting sick when travelling is extra bad. Luckily I was not working so I was able to sleep during the day. Of course it was away from my photographing.
Get well soon, dear Peter! Thanks for your nice report: Amazing locations, I've been in Warsaw 20 years ago, I guess it has chaged a lot since then. I'm wondering how the Fuji compares to the Pen-F? Especially in bnw
Thanks. I would say that X-S20 is better than Pen-F unless OM SYSTEM decides to upgrade Pen-F to modern technology. After saying this Pen-F is a very capable camera and most likely could have done the same images during my photowalk with it.
Thanks for the video Peter and hope you stay healthy. I was wondering why you blacked out the OM SYSTEM /OM5 badge on your camera. Nice to see you enjoying and showing us different cameras now. I enjoy my OM1 and 300mm f4 for wildlife/birds but I've ordered the Panasonic G9ii. It will be nice to have better video. Not sure if OM System will survive. So far they've only re-badged products that were already in the Olympus pipeline at takeover.
When I used film HP5 was my favourite so I'll try to find a simulation that works on my X-Pro. Something that's important to remember is that simulations are specific to sensor versions and even camera models. I've been thinking of buying the 27mm but I've got a 35 f2 which is already light and compact, and I'm reluctant to pay more for a lens which is a stop slower.
Hi Peter, it's me again! Was just diving into the filmsimulations - they seem to be are very tempting toy for creative people. Especially for street and landscapes. As I don't need fast AF, top video quality etc, the little sister X-S10 is probably sufficient. What do you think?
Glad you got the X-S20. I have it too, and it is (almost) my dream camera. Former m43 user here - had the GH2, E-P1 (still have both), E-M10 MK I and III, E-M5 MK II, GX7, GX85 and GX9. Still love the format, but I'm (as you can see) a midrange camera body guy, and I saw a couple of years ago that OM and Panasonic are going niche with the format (video for Panasonic, adventure / wildlife for OM), the lenses getting bigger, no GX10 or Pen F II on the horizon - all true, at least until now. Switched to Fuji, which was the closest option in portability - the Sonys are kinda sterile (but the A6700 got my attention), and I have ZERO interest in full frame. Tested a X-T20, liked a lot, got a X-S10, traded both now for a X-S20. Have got the equivalent lenses that I had on m43, but in the last months, it almost always become a "fixed" lens setup - the X-S20, the fantastic Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 (which should be the blueprint for newer m43 lenses), and, yes, a Reggie's film recipe - in my case, his Portra 400. It is a astonishing package. Colors are great, even better (for my taste) than Olympus, which where my previous preference. Size, handling, very fine (albeit I still prefer Olympus dials, they are the best). IBIS, very good, much better than X-S10, but still a bit behind OM and Panasonic, not so much in stills, but more apparent in video. But good enough. The AF is mesmerizing, specially after the firmware 1.10. Face / eye tracking are almost flawless. Made a lot of shots in a huge outdoor concert (a scenario that I know very well), and was miles better than anything that I had before, got the eyes from the singers from VERY far (the full body occupying less than half frame), when my previous cameras I had to switch to manual focus, or (the X-S10) barely recognized the head. For video, it is a little beast. For me, the 6.2k open gate for vertical video is overrated (you can extract a 1080p vertical frame from 4k footage, and to see in a small screen, it is more than enough), but is amazing to reframe for a 4k delivery. The 10-bit 4:2:2 footage is insanely detailed, Flog and Flog2 makes wonders for highlights. And you can even record RAW video with an external recorder. To become my perfect camera (for an amateur, midrange body guy like me): - The video mode does not a have a "general" tracking mode, is a old Fujifilm flaw. But they implemented it in the newer GFX camera, and since it uses the same processor, I hope that Fuji could bring it in a firmware update. - Whished one or two more custom buttons. - Put this camera in the older X-E3 body :) (I prefer "rangefinder" bodies since it attracts less attention). But I'm loving the camera. It is a little monster.
Thanks for your comments and thoughts about X-S20. It is always good to hear what others think and what ideas they have. I am really waiting for E-X5. That would be an interesting camera.
Hi Marcio Great contribution! I'm tired by the film simulations for street photography. I don't need fast AF (I'm owning the OM-1) or video. For this the X-S10 would be sufficient, right? What do you think! As you've used both... :-) Thanks a lot
@@joerghummerjohann4854 The AF of the X-S10 is very good too - never had a OM-1 or OM-5, but is much better than all my other m43 cameras. You will never take more beautiful photos with your Fuji XS 10 or 20 than with an Olympus or other brand. You're excited to have a new toy and you're looking for ease in new comfort. Give me a Fuji XT10 or an OMD 5 1st generation, I'll take photos as good as your new equipment.
ive been looking at this as a secondary walkabout camera, and these comparison sites i looked at, it makes my GH5ii a goliath in comparison. is it still faring you well?
@@ForsgardPeteri ended up going with the Canon R7 instead since i saw a deal on one that was too tempting. if only the XS20 got the weather seal treatment i wouldve still went for it but i found the canon more favourable. the layout of the front and rear dials is a little weird but considering i only use the front dial for aperture priority its no big deal. not as light as the Fuji, but lighter than my GH5ii!
Hi Peter, sorry to hear you was unwell, în general I am enjoying your posts and genuine opinions, but really...I am struggling to understand how this new camera is more capable than OM1... even for video. Does not make sense, sorry. But anyway, I wish you to enjoy it! This is what maters most.
Thanks, feeling well and the flu has gone. For wildlife and bird photography OM-1 is a lot better camera. I am not really in that genre. For video work X-S20 has a lot more to offer. 6.2K Open gate, 4:2:2, F-Log2 etc. Yees, I am enjoying my new cameras.

Could you do an " vs match " between your om-5 and x-s20. Il could be very interessting . I don't find this comparaison on youtube ..
It is planned later for this year.
One major point for some people is the lack of weather sealing. Not a problem for me but it is a deal breaker for some
It is a big thing. One of the things that still concerns me.
Great video about the Fujifilm X-S20 which I want to upgrade from the X-S10. Great for vloging, travel and travel videography and photography.
Thanks.
Really looking forward to seeing your video on the XRaw Studio converter.

Hello Peter
From a post-processing point of view of the Raw file, is there a difference between Olympus and Fuji ?
Love watching your videos. I’ve been watching for a few years now. But it is me or are your new camera video images slightly blurred?
This was filmed with DJI Action 2, so it can be.
The video looks 10x better than on Olympus camera (ironie off) ;-) - all the best
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Thank you.
