She was doing those trick shots, where you shoot with your eyes closed. A family that plays together, stays together.
We're glad you guys liked testing out the Sako 90 Quest and ammo! Thanks for taking the time to take the rifle out to the range! It is indeed a lethally accurate hunting rifle. ;)
Are you going to start or add different chambers in the near future. I would love to get one in 7-08
1:52 Everyone needs to watch this video to actually SEE 👀 the most amazing thing I've seen in a long time.
In case you didn't catch it, rewind and replay.....
There is ZERO flinch from Jim's wife.
No, she didn't fire a round at this point in the video....
Twice now, Jim mentioned "Worth the High gun price" and still ZERO flinch.😅
My wife would have ended the video with the mention of "high priced gun".
Real professional operators.
Great video, and also, great shooting as well.👍
Mad props to Mrs. Backfire. That is not easy and anybody getting behind a rifle and thinking they can do it easy is just not being honest. Great job.
Great video, the fact that she came multiple days and suffered thru what was a lot of recoil for most but was admittedly too much for her, great sport is all i can say.
Jim your wife is a real trooper, I could see early that the 300wm was beating her up.
Well done for sticking it out.
That lady is a TROOPER who definitely has the capability of making that shot, but that was just more recoil than she should be asked to deal with. I don't blame her for flinching one bit. She did AWESOME!
Congrats Emily! So cool to see you working so hard! Man she powered through that pain. Crazy willpower.
Jim, hats off to your wife for pushing through! That is a lot of recoil! Great video! The family that plays together stays together.
Sako 90 is sweet
My sako shoots lights out. By far the most accurate rifle I've ever shot. But definitely $$. The sako S20 is a cheaper option and still shoots flawless.
This is not as easy as it might seem. Hunting rig, not competition. She's a machine. Keep at it. This is awesome !!
300wm is hard core. Much respect to Emily from Australia! Hope you have another episode with a pad to remove her fear. She'll be on plate I reckon
Jim, My Sako 85 in stainless (light Turkish walnut wood stock) in 375H&H is the finest rifle I have ever shot.
I put a muzzle break on my after the first time shooting it though. Make fun of me If you like but 375H&H in a rifle less than 8 lbs with a scope, shooting 300 gain bullets was more than I could handle and so relax enough to accurately shoot it.
With the break I can consistently shoot 5-6 inch groups at 400 yards.
Good enough for a 40" newfoundland moose in September 2023...
375H&H might be considered a bit much for moose. I thought it was perfect. That fact that there were 12 polar bears on newfoundland island at the time of my hunt I did not feel over gunned in the slightest!
Jim She's a keeper ! She was a good sport 300 win mag , Lots of recoil .. Your a very patient teacher ! . Sako looks and shoots great , I love my Tikka..
next rifle I buy is a Sako !
Tikka is Sako. Or Sako is Tikka. Either or. Tikka is made in the same plant as Sako. Same borer's same everything. Just so you know.
It's great to see shooters get excited and having fun. I really enjoy these kinds of videos.
I'll bet Jim actually said something like "Honey, let's join the mile-long club!"
lolol .. oh man, I can only imagine
Haha
😂😂
Sako Powerhead Blade is an excellent cartridge! I’ve been able to shoot 1/3 inch groups at 300m with my 6.5CRM Tikka t3x TAC A1 and
Love it guys, great job Mrs. Backfire 👍
this is a great youtube channel.... one of the few gun tubers worth watching
Jim so happy to see you bringing her into the sport.
I had to pause it after her first shot. Her eyes were closed when she yanked the trigger and then grunting, She says it was good. Props to her for being brave enough to try. Reminds me of when my wife asked to shoot my 44 magnum.
At least she didn't get scoped like that other guy lol
Makes no sense to me to hand a shooter a gun that will damage them. One friends daughter said bring it on and loved high recoil, 10" Contender 357max her favorite but not the norm. Have met way too many women scared of guns cuz dumasses that hurt them.
@@js7127 THANK YOU FOR BEING THE ONLY PERSON HERE THAT FANDOM HASN'T CLOUDED THEIR SENSE OF RIGHT & WRONG.
Excellent Video Jim and Emily.
Kudos to E! What you did is BRAVE. Progression is the goal - not perfection. I do envy u guys that range and the landscape u have access to! BTW... Love u'r videos :)
I’ve hunted in Hawaii with a 300 WM for the last 25 years. The recoil and noise of the 300 WM is not as cool as it used to be. I have transitioned to the 6.5 CM and love it! The only regret I have is that I should’ve switched a long time ago. My 300 WM is now relegated to back of my gun safe. All hail the 6.5 CM! 🙌🏼
Mad props to her for that!🤘🏻 I’m going to shoot a mile for the first time in a couple weeks with a 6.5 Creedmoor.
Great job! You handled that like a champ! Nicely done!
Jim you are a good teacher! Emily, you are a trooper!
What scope were you using that you couldn’t dial up far enough? I was looking at the Veracity PH for a 7 PRC build I’m working on and was wondering how far it would dial up.
Between this video and the series on the 100 shot challenge, you’ve gained a subscriber. Keep up the good work
Such a trooper Emily! Way to stick through it and keep going!
Muzzle break was a great idea. Anything to make the experience more enjoyable, especially for newer people
Hey, Kudos for the "come back" and hanging in there!!!! Just work on keeping your eyes open and you'll get it next time out.
Finest hunting rifle ever shot. Big statement. Glad you like it.
She came back! Love it. You guys are great 🤣🤣
Emily, you are a great shot and a good sport. The recoil on that is brutal and you kept coming back despite the bruises and pain! Honestly great shooting, to get that close at a mile on a windy day takes skill, skill that I know I don’t have. Well done!
Great job Em! I have been shooting for a long time and I can’t hit anything at a mile 😂, you s great. I’m glad he put the muzzle brake on there for your shoulder too!
I absolutely love my Sako S20 in 7RM. Most comfortable gun I have ever shot and I can consistently (thus far) shoot .5" or less groups out to 300yds (furthest distance range I have available for now).
She done a great job and the fact she didn’t give up was very impressive. That just means she will practice more and next time look out even if you are a thousand yards out. God bless you guys
Always love the enthusiasm of a new shooter day 1 was amazing.
As far as the other 2 days she is an incredible lady for doing both for the sake of the video but maybe its time to visit the facts of what she said about finding the site picture i bet that when you get the Backfire cusion and would suggest a slight modification of a check pad to help with the spacing of her shoulder to make sure its off of that collar bone she might enjoy it once again...
Maybe your next big product will have to be complete custom rifle stocks.
Amazing video and thanks again
When I was younger and couldn't handle recoil, I'd put a sandbag behind the stock and it was a huge help. Added weight, surface area, with a conformed contact with your shoulder.
She did great for closing her eyes before the shot!!!!!
No it's not worth it. Lol Your wife is so pretty and very kind. You're very fortunate that she loves you or you would Not have so many toys. That's a fact jack. 😃😆🤣 I like seeing you together in the video it's nice and fun.
Those toys helped get him to 870k followers paying for the toys and a nice residual besides.
@@shawnengstrom3906 Clearly demonstrating that men w/money are no less likely to abuse their wives than are the poor.
@@zanelittlegraywhat a vicious calumny.
Congratulations young lady you out shoot most of my mates here in New Zealand as they hate my Sako 300 win mag. My 300 shot so well i now only have Sako rifles and running the Sako ammunition they are tack drivers. Keep up the good work.
Kudos to Her.
Emily is a real trooper, great job!
Love seeing how much of an interest she takes in what you do, and how good of a sport she is. Just, from years of learning and mistakes of my own...make sure you reciprocate!
All that aside, great video. Reaffirms my belief in my reloads based on a.3xx caliber base. From .300 Blackout to .308 to .300 Win-Mag, the only thing that changes is the brass for the most part. With a few minor adjustments, we can take anything from point blank to a mile with the same primer, powder, and projectiles.
Wouldn't mind having that Sako, it just might be my next purchase.
Emily ya did great. You're definitely a better shooter than I am and I'm not saying that just to be nice. I'm lucky if I hit 400 yards, but I'm more of an AR/AK guy whose *really* wanting to get into PRS style shooting. Jim's channel is one of those that got me hooked on bolt guns and I'm super excited to get better behind them. Great vid guys!!
The lack of awareness of Em’s agency in this video is mind boggling. So many comments on here calling Jim abusive or callous or irresponsible without giving Em the credit for being brave enough to engage with such a rife. Sure, she learned that it was beyond her limit at that present moment, but she kept coming back and doing better.
Credit to Jim for even “allowing” her to try this and learn a literally painful lesson, and credit to Em for being willing to learn the lesson in a very public way.
What a trooper Emily!
Nice videos guys.
That's awesome for a new shooter 👏. Well done
Totally closing her eye before the squeeze. I would never put my wife behind a hard recoiling magnum. It would undue all the work i have done with her to not flinch.
My wife shot a 3/4” group her first time behind a 300 PRC. Your wife might surprise you if given the chance
@@jeffwilliams3436 Obviously depends on the person. If your girl can handle it, good for her. If she's at the stage where she's closing her eyes well before squeezing the shot off, it's probably too much/too early.
Good luck convincing Emily to not try a gun that I’ve been raving about 😀
@@backfirelol
im glad somebody gets it!
Jim and Emily, you are having a wonderful life 😊
Kudos for modeling positive, respectful spouse interaction! It is great to see you two together on the channel. My daughter is framed like Emily. I would not put her on a 300mag without suppressing it and/or giving her a wearable or upgraded recoil pad! Totally random question: when you moved to SG did you have any concerns about residual radiation?
She did way better than I would have. Great job Emily!! My friend had a 300 Weatherby magnum and I bailed after 3 shots. Lol
God bless your wife, love the closed eye technique mixed with the fear of being hurt. She's a keeper
Loved the closed eye tactic. Wishing it on the spot was good. She would love shooting Gertrude! Recoils like a toddler. Its got her name all over it. I give her props for toughing it out and staying on the gun as long as she did. I know grown males that are scared of hunting rifles chambered in 270. Much more a 300 win mag. Good job! Much respect!!
I’m sure yall noticed this, but she’s closing her eyes before she squeezes the Trigger. But as always I love all of your videos.
Yep, looks like she needs 10 hours of dry fire practice like Ruger.
@@brianquigley6919Dry firing does not help with anticipation. She needs instructed living firing and eye pro.
She needs a smaller caliber to get more comfortable before moving to big calibers
That second of the 3 round group was eyes open and dead on target.
Emily, you've got it! It just takes practice and faith in the quality of your position.
@@StuninRub100%, I can dry fire all day because I know nothings gonna happen. Once I get to the range that little anticipation shows back up.
I give her props for staying behind the gun and to keep going. That’s a lot of kick that she is taking.
Jim and Emily are SO AWESOME.
Great video. Awesome job.
Emily, you are tough as nails. If the gun hurts to shoot it, stop immediately. If you start to develop a flinch, it will be extremely difficult to overcome. Love you both and I look forward to seeing more of you both.
you are a bright dude. thanks.
Jim, now that was a great video.
She’s awesome! What a good sport. Heck of a shooter jumping to a 300 win mag and shooting that well 👍👍
great content Jim ! I think the 300 win mag recoil is just a little intimidating to your wife, but she did great! she looked a bit overpowered from the facial expressions, I hate to see her develop a flinch. thanks for the quick shipment on that 7 prc recoil pad, nice product. that mile shot is a long poke of a shot, lots of affecting variables. always nice to se involvement of family members in our sports.
Well done Emily for taking on a rifle chambered in such a stout cartridge. A unsuppressed / unbroken 300WM is NOT the next step up from a 6.5Creed.
No it's not. A 6.5 PRC would make that shot.
Emily is a AMAZING shooter.
Great shooting so hard to hit long distance so many different factors involved its not easy as some people make it look great job!
She did good. Well done for being positive too.
Kudos to Emily for shooting that 300WM more than once the first day. I would really like to hear her opinion on recoil reduction with the Backfire Pad installed.
Why? Why does Jim have this woman shooting 300win mag w no pad, break , or suppressor? To the point of crying? Why? Jim? With all your knowledge? Love all of your videos!
You did real well
Love your show jim! Thanks for taking us along on your escapades. I just want to point out that yeah she closed her eyes dude give her something lighter hahaha
Great Job keep at it, never give up. You can do it. At one point people cant 100 yards, and they go on to PRS Shoots. Kudos to do
Great video--your wife is a KEEPER!! Very impressive to even agree to get behind that gun and then shot it very well!! Take her out for a really nice supper!!
That grs style stock looks great
What a good sport. She did great.
My dad had a Sako L579 Forrester in .243 that would routinely shoot 5 shot groups at 100 yards that you could cover with a dime. A Sako is high on my list of guns that I want.
She was a trooper!
Can you please review the Christensen arms modern carbon rifle
Dude i hope you realize how lucky a man you are. You got that beautiful lil blond wife that not only lets you do your hobbies . And spend piles of $$. But she will do it wih you too. Thats just about a priceless women right there. Hope u kno how lucky you are!!!!!
I absolutely do. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me.
Awesome Job she did Great.
GREAT JOB
How was your shot? I have NO idea. Umm, your eyes were closed anticipating the shot. Same on the second. Third was great eyes open and she nailed the bullseye. Closed on the 4th. Again, her excitement makes the videos fun to watch. Loved the 488 yard response when she heard the round land.
Emilie, you're the best one! 👌👍💪
LOVE you guys,, GREAT video and she's "killin" it,, Yupper 300 Win Mag, kicks,, She's a tough trooper
This lady is closing her eyes before the shot goes of, not nervous at all :-)
Im likjng these GRS stocks more and more. Im gonna look at the LWT Hunter
Laminated. More costly, but SO MUCH nicer...❤❤❤
The double eye close technique was classical.
She was taking that 300win mag beating like a trooper on the first outing!
I know quite a few dudes who'd wilt under the recoil of a 300 WM. Nice work, Mrs.
GREAT VIDEO
23:42
Emily, you can watch much more experienced shooters, with every possible setup,
Struggling to hit a target at 1000 yards.
You are shooting extremely accurately, at over 1700, or 1800 yards.
Its very impressive, even when you don't hit the very small target.
The thing at that range is that it's minor tiny fractions of degrees at your origin, that make the difference of several inches either way.
Jim can tell you, hitting such a small target, consistently, at that range, is an extremely difficult challenge.
You should not feel defeated.
Also, remember that you are firing the 300 Win MAG rounds, with a high velocity load, and a heavy recoil... With a very light hunting rifle.
That recoil makes a difference too.
I suspect you'll be flooded with encouragement here.
Thank you Jim and Emily, and Backfire.
Great Video.
Emily is a real trooper! She persevered in spite of the recoil and continued to come back to shoot some more. It was great to see Jim so proud of his wife’s accomplishment. I would be happy to get my wife to the range even once a year!!
Yes!
His wife took his abuse like a real trooper!
Wow congratulations
Keep her eyes open next round and she'll be golden! Goo job :)
Mad props to Mrs. Backfire. Love these vids. Try again with a rifle with a suppressor and I bet she gets it.
Jim, you should have a muzzle brake on a gun that big for her to shoot. What a GREAT sport she is I love seeing her on your videos.
I'd like to see either of you take that Sako to Texas Plinkings 1 moa at 1000 yard challange.
