    I've already upgraded - after my birthday in the summer I upgraded my PC to a Ryzen 7600x, rtx 3070 and 32gb ram. Not groundbreaking but boosted my fps in 2020 to around 60-70 fps (i was getting 20-30fps with my old ryzen 2700, gtx 1060, 16gb), so ive been enjoying the better use of 2020 for the last few months, and my reckoning/hope is that 2024 will work even better, but even if it doesn't, i should be getting 30-40fps on the new sim, which I'll be more than happy with!

    The question for me is will it perform as well as 2020 & I think it will ultimately perform better with win 11 H25 (which should relieve stress on the processor by loading graphics directly from the cloud) & multithreading but won't know for sure for another week. I won't spend a dime on a new computer if mine works as well as it did on 2020. If moneys no object then do what ever you want but not everyone can buy a new PC nor needs to if the're getting decent performance. I have 4+ good years on msfs 2020 & expect a little more for msfs 2024. I'm more excited about the smaller footprint with faster loading better visuals with seasons, better trees etc. not to mention multi threading. I'll find out soon !

    Another thing I noticed in another review is that 8000MT memory has a massive impact on FS2020 FPS 1% lows over 6000MTs, something like 35% increase.

    • @shenmisheshou7002
      @shenmisheshou7002 18 днів тому

      8000mhz Memory is not going to be stable unless the system uses a very expensive motherboard. Lower cost motherboards will have the signal wires on the same plane, or on the front and back of the board, and at these speeds, the lands can crosstalk. Then most expensive boards have multiple layers that can space the lands so that they don't crosstalk. For MSFS 2024 though, the CPU is still the bottlneck in the system. For a 13900K or 13900KF, 6000mhz or 6400mhz memory will keep pace with the CPU and will be stable on lower end boards. For 14900K or KF, 6400k is all you need, and going faster could wind up with instablity unless you have a higher end mothereboard. I tried several memory speeds on my 13900KF, and there was not really any beneift past 6000, and the cost of going faster is higher than it was worth. The game is still in the end, CPU limited, but it is absoutely correct that enabling XMP and using an XM overclock profile will improve a sysem that has XMP disabled and is running Intel recemmended fastest memory. I am a major believer in using overcloied memory, though I have no interest in ovecloocing my CPU or GPU.

    • @deloford
      @deloford 18 днів тому

      @shenmisheshou7002 check out the hardware unboxed X870 roundup, plenty of cheaper boards stable at 8000MHz including the Tomahawk. Tests have shown that while MFS2020 Average FPS is very CPU limited, 0.1 lows are massively effected by memory speed.

    Running at 8700k 2070Super 32gb RAM, 1440p monitor, customed to high settings, smooth asf. Streaming 1080p on Facebook Live. Averaging at 35-40 in modded airports. MSFS 2020.

    I have a 5700x3d (decent die with a small overclock -boost 4.12 ghz). 4070s and 32gb 3600 ram. 100mbs internet.
    I had 3 hours on it tonight. . It was smooth and less stuttery than 2020.
    Running 4k 16:9 dlss perf. No FG. Everthing ultra except lighting settings set to high. Terrain detail 120 and object detail 120.
    Looks absolutely stunning. Fly the grand canyon at sun rise ...... Just wow.
    Ive had no noticeable streaming glitches or slow draw times.
    Smooth looking 50-60fps in rural areas even under 500feet with high foilage count.
    Btw. Get an x3d . Dont f around with standard x or intel. 5700x3d is very affordable and works well on 24 if you havent upgraded to am5 yet. Obviously. A 5070/80 and 9800x3d will absolutely rip in this game. But its not really needed yet. Unless you want vr or ultrawide 4k
    Havent gone to any mega cities like tokyo or new york yet. Sure ill see more fps dips there.
    Standard load was 70-80% gpu 8-9gb vram , 20-30% cpu , 17-20gb ram

    I figured my system needs an upgrade, and the catalyst is the release of 2024. If I'm going to upgrade for 2024, I might as well get one now (had it for a month now) I can still use it for 2020. With my new setup (7950X3D, 4080S, 64GB DDR5) I can run FBW 380 (8K) at around 42-45fps for the most part, and around 30fps at poorly optimised addon airports. That's on Ultra 4K. Pretty happy with it! Whatever 2024 brings, I'm sure CPU optimisation will be had, but very interested to see what they did in the space of multithreading optimisation!

    Been considering upgrading. I've got a Ryzen 7 3700 and an RTX 3070, so well in the recommended specs. I've got 32Gb RAM, but it's pretty slow by today's standards (DDR4-3200MHz, downgraded to 3000MHz due to stability issues). Will wait and see what the performance is like before making a decision. MSFS2020 is quite playable for me at the moment, although I'm running at 1080p and some detail levels turned down, but VR performance is baaaaad! Lowest detail settings I get reasonable enough frame rates, but very jerky motion when I turn my head.

    The same that work with msfs2020. The msfs2024 is using remote playing, including aircraft’s, airport textures, etc. So you don’t need a super power PC, you will need that Asobo fix the server’s capabilities and be able to stream all the data to your PC. Remember that MSFS2020 runs smooth with very good graphics on Xbox series X, and MSFS2024 was designed to achieve that same specs.

    Great point--idiotic to assume anything and upgrade in advance. See what early adopters with various systems report and give Asobe some time to work the inevitable initial bugs out before upgrading your current hardware. In my case, my 2019 vintage Ryzen 7 3700X, 16GB RAM, and GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER on a 4K monitor supports reasonable frame rates even on Ultra (most of the time), but there are rare situations where it stutters and momentarily freezes (that may be due to other programs running in the background). I may be able to tweak settings to optimize that, but I want to see how that set-up handles 2024 before deciding to experiment with upgrades on those components vs buying a whole new system (which would be an "Ideal Spec" one for future-proofing). For example, how much difference would 32GB RAM make? As you point out, 30 fps is more than adequate (standard video is 30 fps while film is 24--have you ever watched a movie and thought about frame rates?)...

    No one should be buying anything until FS2024 is out and we see how the new code for core utilisation, that’s different to FS2020, is with higher core count CPU’s AND the 9900x3D and 9950x3D is out.
    The reason is the higher core count 9000x3D chips are supposed to have cache for both CCD’s unlike previous generations so there won’t be the issue that previous x3D gen’s had, though if you used multiple background programs like so many of us do with flight sims and used Process Lasso to set what programs use what CCD the multi CCD chips could still offer slight better performance than the single CCD 800 chip.
    So, the smart move is not to rush out and buy a 9800x3D chip right now thinking it’s definitely going to be the best performing chip in FS2024, but to hold your horses till the other two chips are out and see how they compare.

    That cpu limiting thing really gives me flashbacks to the PS3 where developers where just too lazy to develop the game to correctly use all cores and instead just ported everything over from the Xbox version thus having a much worse looking and running game on the much more potent hardware. I’m to this day shocked that adobo/microsoft even when fs2020 was still in development didn’t manage to program it right away so that it used multi cores efficiently. I mean, even when fs2020 was still in early development, multi cores and games not using it correctly was already a thing

      @ unfortunately I still can’t enjoy the a380. It draws a lot of performance and even after modifying the modelconfiguration.ini to support faster than 2x sim rate without deactivating it I found out, that the a380 has that typical issue of starting to climb and descend once you go faster than 2x sim rate. For me, PMDG are the only aircraft that can reliably and continuously handle like 8x sim rate without doing anything stupid. That basically renders the fbw a380 unusable for me for real long haul flights… what a bummer.

      Hey, RX7900XT-Owner here 😅 The main differences are in my humble opinion the quality and the accsessability. FSR3 and the Framegen is ok for example in games like Avatar or Cyberpunk but its too unprecise an not as perfect as DLSS and Nvidea-Framegen. The main Problem is that its not implemented in the most games.
      The AMD-Card has enourmus raw power and i can play with TAA on avererage 60 FPS on an 7800x3d but only at normal airports 😅 the processor is the bottlenek as for RTX-Users. Hope they fix this this time 💪🏼 Just ask if you have any additional questions 😊

      The 4770k is going to be very slow. It was a good cpu when it came out, but that was in 2013, over 10 years ago. The 4770k has difficulty with msfs 2020, the 1% lows and stuttering is bad. You might be able to get it to run, but framerates will be bad at almost any resolution. Limited by main thread.
      I just upgraded from a 4770 equivalent. I got a 5700x3d for 140 dollars on aliexpress, and the difference is night and day. The weakest cpu I would start with is a r5 5600, which can be found around 100 dollars used.

    - A software engineer
    While it's true that we get more out of MSFS using a high-end CPU rather than a high-end GPU, for the ultimate MSFS experience I'd recommend considering a VR headset (like the Pimax Crystal Light). It's amazing. For that you do want a really good GPU. If someone is just starting to think about hardware upgrades, I'd wait for nVidia to release their new 50xx series GPUs. Then either purchase a second hand 4080 or go for the 50xx series.
