Thank you for making this video and this channel. Back when I first started swimming stuff like this didn't exist. You had to spend hours researching and reading forums to get help like this.
The clouds and sun sets are awesome really changes things within the sim I even get reflections of sunset on my panels its great
This really isn't a tweak guide. From my point of view, it is a setting level I would like to reach in the next half decade.

I gained 15-20FPS in teh NGX at Aerosoft DAB with some decent weather. Thank you Matt, made my day!
Matt, you can set your Anisotropic flitering at x16!! ;) Contrary to what many people think, he doesn't decrease performances!! Cheers!

FXAA is a somewhat confusing setting as it's usually "more things ON = better looks," but FXAA is "Fast Approximate Anti-aliasing," which is essentially "prefer performance over quality," which is why enabling it makes things worse.
Sorry to ask a newb question, but how do you install this stuff in V3. These tweaks and settings are awesome but all the research I look up seem crazy complicated with compatibility and all that. Do you have a how to install addons in V3 video

Hey matt, just installed P3D v3.2 academic but dont see any display settings tab so I cant change my graphics settings? Do you know whats wrong?

How do you cope with VAS with your setting. When I start a flight (similar setting) with a HD plane (Carenado 525A) at the begging I have 1 GB left, at approach maybe 0,4 GB left and no chance for landing. No possibility to fly from Kastrup (FlyTampa) to Shiphol. Any idea?
Enabling HDR lighting at all makes all the displays in the PMDG 737 a blurry mess. It makes my eyes ache after squinting at them for a few minutes. It's like there's a piece of wax paper over the screens or something. Have you had any issues like that?
It would seem that many simmers are verging on P3D as their major platform. I've gone from FSX to Steam. However, I'm going to purchase P3D and call it a day.

+Anthony White P3D has great graphics, but beware that it only supports a subset of all FSX addons.

Are the days of manually modifying the .cfg file finally over with P3D?? I want to make the switch from FSX to P3D but I'm put off by the cost of re purchasing all of my add-ons. I use all of the mainstream stuff like FTX, ASN, PMDG, A2A, etc. How many of these licenses have to be re purchased for P3D? Thanks
I keep getting an SQL error when starting rex soft clouds saying that it has been tampered with and to unistall and reinstall. I've tried several times with no luck.

you know what I want to know, how in gods name did you manage to do shared cookpit with Squeal in the Aerosoft A320, I've tried it with a friend in it's impossible to steer the plane as it floods the network...
Hey Matt or anyone else I know your busy but you said you not using NVIDIA inspector any more how are you getting no jaggies or shimmering in the cockpit or on the outside of the aircraft. NVIDIA inspector solves it but kills my fps with sparse Grid super sampling any ideas ?
For the sun and sky texture mod, do you need to be running ENB series for FSX or can you do without it?

Hello, Matt! I saw your video about 2016 settings optimization.
I'm a video game aficionado and have spent days optimizing FSX/P3D, here's my advice.
I’m using a 4770/770 and can max out everything, except for Hardware Tessellation (major villain!), Terrain Shadowing (major villain!), and Building/Vegetation Reflections/Shadows (adds up), while getting 30-60 fps depending on the situation.
With your current set-up I would believe you should be able to have a lot higher settings and or fps!
I’m new to this flight simulator and have only made a few basic flights over Europe, so I don’t know how this changes in after hours of flying in adverse weather, at high altitude, over denser vegetation or denser cities.
However, based on my experience with FSX/P3D yet and games in general, you do not appear to be maxing out a few settings that have no impact on fps at all (Anisotropic filtering has zero impact in all games, as far as I’m aware), so I would encourage you to spend a day increasing or decreasing all settings one at a time and seeing if they have any impact on your system, and you can end up with great success!
Hi Matt , the smallparticleradius=1 is a good add to the config so you can see objects further if playing multiplayer. Great vids mate. Do you have a rift ? Flyinside changes the way you "fly" and is super immersive :) keep up the great vids.

Matt, probably the best video I have watched this year. Instantly my sim looks awesome and getting 40 - 60 fps. Does your graphics card make a massive difference with P3D V3? I.e would it make full use of the power of a Nvidia Titan?

Hey Matt. First of all nice video. Im a xplane user right now but Im planning to turn back to P3D as the weather engine with REX is too realistic. What do you recommend? Also I did some testing of P3D v3 and its performance. I get aprox 30 fps with clear skies and 20-25 with major thunderstorms (graphics maxed out). If I install ORBX, REX and use a PMDG how many fps drop can I experience? Thanks

Matt, love your work- glad your back uploading! I have a quick question I cant find an answer to and hoping you or someone else can give me a hand.
I have followed your fsx tweak guide- no issues with the install and game looking great. Have installed your config file as well. However I use my mouse as opposed to a joystick when flying and now on the ground I cannot turn? In the air, yeh no problem but as I use the mouse to taxi, please help I know it must be a tiny 0 to 1 or 1 to 0 or false to true in the config!

Thanks for the great video and links. I was struggling to get a steady 30fps at 4K until reading from Rob that Hyper-threading and P3D do not mix well. After switching HT off, I am now able to get a steady 30-40fps at 4K with the settings you provided.

Sounds like you need to stop crashing.
Matt, how about the dynamic reflections in the new v3.1?
My autogen doesn't load more than 20 or 30 mi in v3, I have fiber tweak at 0.3 but doesn't seem to change anything. Anyone know how to work around this?

I've just invested in P3D and noticed something strange, when I sent my display sliders all the way up to Dense or V Dense I get about 25/30 fps which is good for me, but when I put the sliders down to the mid sections/normal I only get about 15/20 fps!!! I can't figure that one out :-)
