i believe they replaced the $2 note with a coin because small denominations are circulated more thus they wear out faster. a coin is more durable. it costs more to mint a coin but over the long run there is a cost savings by not having to replace them like they would a note.

Tim Hortons or timmies for short is the go to coffee chain in Canada, there is 1.5 tim Hortons for every Canadian citizen and a double double means a coffee with 2 cream 2 sugar
The whole reason behind bills as coins is simply. You use coins as spare change. So bills being used as spare change. Chances are you'll spend more. Not thinking it's a 2 dollars or 1dollar
Question. I have a new 2022 toonie with letter stamped rim. There was too much force when stamping the letters causing the edge at each letter to be deformed. Would you say this is an error and will this increase the value of the toonie
This is very common and you'll see this on nearly all toonies with edge lettering. It almost appears as though the rim has been dinged, or damaged, but it's just the result of the force applied to press the letters into the rim.

My birth year is the year they started toonies!! Yay! I always get a odd feeling when holding a 1996 toonie. I hope I find a rare one someday!

Hi
I found one
Inflation is the answer. Same reason the 1 bill is gone, same reason the 5 will one day go away
That is 100% correct.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
The bills were wearing out way to quickly due to usage.
Wasn’t affordable.
im a busker and get an obscene amount of change...might as well look for the cool shit. i got like 30 or so glow in the dark ones.
My track would have been a great intro for this video. Toonies Loonies
I paid $22 in Welland and found one in today's hunt!

Very nice!
Please explain a Timmy and double double. Is that coffee? We don't have Timmy's here in southern Minnesota.
Tim Hortons or timmies for short is the go to coffee chain in Canada, there is 1.5 tim Hortons for every Canadian citizen and a double double means a coffee with 2 cream 2 sugar
Thé reason for the switch is that a coin is cheaper than a note because they last longer. At the time, $2 note life’s span was 13 months.
I have 3 glow in the dark tonnies
My grandmother has an old red bill. Hidden away lol
Canadian*

I understand the change is because conic last longer than bills
I have one cone Queen Victoria 1872
Ever come across a tonnie that center was loose?
Yes sir some of the first year toonies cores could come loose and rotate around
@@NorthCentralCoins its a funny feeling sensation when you have a center that is loose
The logic is coins last longer then paper bills. Same reason they moved away from paper to polymer bills. Durability.
I some of Elizabeth coins where I sale this coins?
Good afternoon I am looking for information on a loonie that does not have the bronze finish?

I need coin capsul.
Pls help me
Because I don't know where I can buy
Even though I'm an American I know the answer! It was done to save money. Since coins last longer than paper money it's a cost saver for the mint!🤔
That makes sense!
А монеты покупаешь
