Unfortunately counterfeiting toonies is profitable at $2 a coin, minus the initial cost of a press and materials. This is something governments don't really address when they try to replace higher denomination bills with coins. Anti-counterfeit measures only work if people are going to take the time to examine the coins at the banks and remove them from circulation. Again very informative James!
Yeah, somebody's making a killing even with the dies and presses, shipping, etc. Make enough of them...
Nice hunt, very interesting, there is so much I don’t know about Canadian coins, thanks!
Me I keep all my changes from after my shopping or grocery stores. And I look at them .
Most people don't look closely at their change. If you've found some cool coins, just imagine how many hands it's slipped through before it got to you!
Nice hunt, shame about all the counterfeits though.
Very interesting. I used to collect coins for decades but quit. Now I am buying rolls of Toonies.
I didn't realize the variety of the Commemorative ones. Thanks.
I have all the years but 2024. Most if not all of the Commemorative ones. Ditto for the Loonie.
Wish you lived near Hamilton ON. Lots for sale.@@user-hi1ys9fz3h
What a shame about the fake coins and that burnt one, but other than that some really nice finds! Great to see some more of all of those different Canadian commemoratives 😉
Man that burnt one im stilling looking for un coloured lol just pulled a 76 jack rabbit cental nickel in my change the other day
Petition to amend your charter to add kighthood still continues, and I might be slacking off, but it does not mean I shall quit trying.
Great hunt. Sucks that there are so many counterfeit toonies out there. Yikes
What recourse, if any, do you have for all those fakes? Are you stuck with them, or can you surrender them somewhere so at least they're not taking up space?
Well, for now I'm fortunate that my bank will take them back, but a friend just had his bank tell him they won't take them back any longer...
would the 2015 sir John A be worth more/less (considering the history)?
Great question. He's certainly fallen out of favour in recent years. However, I don't think it will tangibly impact the value of the coin.
I love watching toonie searches, it really sucks about the fake ones though. What do you do with the fake ones? If you don't mind me asking.
I wonder if the fake toonies will have collectors value some day. It sounds bizarre but over time they are obscure. I save for the future
I think they already do now. As collectors are learning more about them and can spot them, they're saving them (I've done the same), which causes others to become interested.
Hello like your video I have a 96 tune with the Crown on the opposite side above the bear is that worth anything ?
Sounds like you're desctribing a major die clash. If that's what you've got, it would definitely have some value for collectors!
As far as I am aware..!
We don’t have any fake coins in Australia 🇦🇺
I think Australia 🇦🇺 and Canada 🇨🇦 only have color coins 🪙..
I show some on my UA-cam live video clip..
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers Famo59 👍🍻🤓🇦🇺⛏
I'll have to check out your video with the colourized Australian coins. It's just a matter of time before the rest of the world catches up, I imagine... Thanks for watching!
my hunt was amazing cad you wouldn't believe what i found in one roll of dimes today along with ten rolls of quarters
I got a 1996 toonies right now
hi love your vidioes. the inuite toonie ,someone made a vidio saying it is worth 200 dollares, but i havent found it again but i saved about 50 of them waiting , mayby youll have better luck have a good day
There is a particular mule error where the proof die was used in a small number of these toonies. The proof toonies did not have a raised circle between the inner and outer rings, while the circulation one did. The mule error caused a small number of circulation toonies without that raised circle. So, look through the ones you have. If you find one without the rim, you've got your valuable toonie. If not, spend them!!
11:10, sorry to ask this but wich one is real and wich one is fake? My guess is left real right fake
That's correct. The real one is on the left. The fake toonie is the one on the right.
Been hunting toonies for 6 months now. Even without the counterfeit thing it is a frustrating endeavour. Toonies being a somewhat high denomination, you never get much bang for your buck(s). And roll hunting is all about bettering your odds through high numbers. As for the possibility of getting loads of fakes, every time I acquire a lot of rolls, it's like I'm beamed back to that nineties feeling when about to have unprotected sex during AIDS deadliest years. Exciting AND terrifying at the same time.
Very true. It can get expensive if you find lots to keep. Pennies and nickels are great for the budget!
I love the Toonies. Just started collecting them. James would you be interested in selling me you nicer duplicates if I paid a premium and shipping to the US? Thanks for considering.
Patrick, send me an email to CadRillHunter@gmail.com and I'm sure we can figure something out!
Where do you buy them from?
You can get them from any bank. Just ask for as many rolls as you want, or a ask for a full box.
@@CADRollHunterI usually get them at my mother's store, Real Canadian Superstore, but I sometimes get the coins from the bank, that is exactly what happened with last year when I was getting a full box of dimes, there I discovered the first ever colored dime, Even though those are low mintage, I have over $5 of them, I also have the non colored dime
I have a couple of 2022 toonies that the side , front , back face rims are painted black wonder if they are worth any thing at all
If they've been painted black, I dont' expect they'd have any value beyond face value.
God save the King...
NOOOOOO!😱😱😱😱😱
Thanks for watching. Steve. And if anyone ever buys anything from you and only pays on toonies, you should be suspicious!!!
Well some of those actually were obvious fakes, contrary to the ones featured on your previous toonie vids , which had way more subtle tell-tale signs
@@CADRollHunter Speak of the devil, I just found my very first cameltoonie today, and it was a pretty obvious fake. Seems I was wrong to think they were that difficult to identify. It's probably that I hadn't had one in my hunts before. I live deep in the middle of nowhere Quebec. And somehow, that cameltoonie, found its way from Toronto to me!
ace
great hunt if you should need any of the colored toonies contact me my email will be in my penny hunt livestream i just did on sept 4
I got a 1996 toonies right now
Love your videos. I never knew there was so much variety in Canadian coinage. I've always put back what I find in my pocket change so I have a pretty good collection. Keep the videos coming.
Kevin, thanks so much for watching and for your kind words.
