Emmy worthy and what more proof does anyone need for Freddie to finally earn one. It was a simple scene, not anger, no screaming, but heart wrenching and full of emotion from both actors.
This. His lack of recognition for this show really frustrates me. He has been killing it the last couple of seasons in particular. That scene where he has the meltdown after discovering the medication was expired was phenomenal.
I'm so proud of the way this was resolved. Shaun made it clear that he could not have known what would happen and he refuses to be a scapegoat for what happened but he also acknowledged the role he played in the outcome of Lim's surgery and admitted how emotional Lim's stabbing made him. Shaun maintained his self-respect, but also admitted that he was truly struggling with how hard it has been for Lim, and he is sorry for that. It's exactly as Glassman said. It's not either-or and I'm so glad the writers made sure that the situation was not presented that way.
When Shaunie mentioned Steve I lost it. He loves and cares for Audrey as a sister the thought of loosing her almost broke him, he couldn’t bear that. He misses Audrey so much her jokes her pep talks she’s been cheering for him since the very beginning they had a beautiful sincere friendship that’s dearly missed🥲
I am so happy lim and shaun have begun to mend their rift this was a beautiful scene glassman might be shaun "father" but you can not discount the bonds he shares with andrews and lim how they help him grow into a better doctor and better man.
Probably the best non-Lea moment Shaun has had all series long. I appreciate his honesty and his willingness to share from the heart. My man has come a mighty long way
This is the scene that should get Freddie some nominations next award season. This was a culmination of growth, humility, honesty, pain, and forgiveness. I cried my eyes out because these two really have ROCKED with each other since day 1. Hence why Shaun wanted to play the hero when Dr Lim got hurt. There isn't any character in TV history as of lately with as much heart felt progression than Dr Shaun Murphy.
She said to Glassman she wanted to be seen. For everyone to acknowledge that something scary and life-changing had happened. I'm so glad Shaun was able to admit it to Lim. That's who she needed to hear it from. To know that Shaun did personally struggle with her surgery. He truly believed there was no other real way to help her.
@@gaymer07and Shaun said that, but it still doesn’t invalidate Lim’s feelings. And Shaun acknowledged them, while sharing his own, which is how true healing and mending of a relationship happens
Aww man I was in tears so emotional, I know it was hard but at least they have spoken, dere was even a tear drop in Shawn's eyes 🥺 he acted really mature by explaining how he felt 👍
I was so proud of him in this moment. So much character growth.. I was literally crying 😢 He didn't do anything wrong but sometimes its still good to say am sorry anyways. Hopefully Lim will begin to heal and let her anger go.
Freddy Highmore is one of THE BEST ACTORS out there. He is so true to this character, the emotion he pulls from his audience is amazing, he is so natural in his performance.
I'm crying again watching this scene for the third time. I'm so glad the writers have been making Shaun grow more with each situation he goes thru. Where was Leah?
Why isn't Christina Chang more famous? She's underrated. I think she should be as big as Michelle Yeoh. A beautiful actress with an amazing depth when it comes to acting.
It was today I watched this episode. When shaun apologised and opened up to lim , I cried . Such a strong and beautiful acting by Freddie. He is so underrated. Wish this show never ends.😇
Shaund finally realized the problem. It's true that he had good intentions to save Lim but he didn't follow the rules (and a tiny 1% of Lim's paralysis came from complications from the surgery Shaun performed). I know no one between Lim and Shaund is a bad person in this story, hope Lim will be happier and gradually let go of anger towards Shaun and they will be back to the way they were. Shaund has made more emotional progress. Yay!!! Anyway, this is a very emotional scene for me
To my understanding she was diagnosed with PTSD before the start of the show and it keeps getting retriggered. IMO this show is fairly under-acted and most of the drama is facilitated by medical conditions of the characters. So Dr. Lim doing the feminist crusader thing is a symptom of getting abused, then getting stabbed by an abusive male, is just a recurrence of trauma. They're spinning a narrative but they're trying to Virgin Mary Mary Sue and it's not going to work
As someone on the spectrum, let me be blunt. Moments like these are the HARDEST for people like us. We're not the best at emotion, or understanding others. But that doesn't mean we don't feel emotions, we're not sociopaths. It's just very difficult for us to think about and understand how our actions affect others. So achknowleding that and genuinely apologizing is one of the hardest things for us to do.
Look what happened to Lim sucks, but it wasn’t Shaun’s fault, point blank. He only did what every other surgeon is trained to do, difference is he did it without emotion which in my opinion is better, he saved her life. If this had happened to anyone else, they’d be applauding him.
I love how in early s4 , you can sense shaun has started to develop his character even more better Lea does make him more , i love how matured and how good is he in decision making starting in s4 whenever he caught into a distracting situation or might make him uncomfortable , he controlled himself very good
Both of them needed this. It was emotional baggage that was super toxic for them. Great acting and also these charaters deep down care about each other.
Proud of shaun here.. Everything he said to lim here were his own words on how he felt, no one dictated him what to tell instead he let out whatever he was feeling.....sure glassman told him to talk to lim multiple times and he refused finally he realised everything that he was doing ( moving in a separate room & isolating himself at work , bringing new point system) everything was because of unresolved things between him and lim & he finally decides to talk...
Ite difficult for him to express himself right away. Even after glassman told him multiple times to apologize to lim he was adamant that nothing went wrong. Trying to not acting on feelings that were distracting him then he learns about his mistakes when he sees his patients interacting... Glassman may have given him the nudge but everything he said here were his own words what he was feeling and bothering him ( usually when someone tells him to say something he usually says like dr glassman/Claire/park said to me to say this ... Etc but here everything he said were his own thoughts he just needed to be realised that he might supress his feelings but that won't solve the problem
If the world cries, I may cry too. But when it's Shaun who's crying, I know how difficult it must really have been for him. That is when I don't just cry, my heart bleeds as well.
Sempre me emociono com essa série maravilhosa, mas essa cena foi uma das que mais me fez ficar emocionado, os atores são magníficos e a história ainda mais.
Perfect casts is what makes a show good, good writing also helps. Movies seems to forgot how to write dialogue and delivery. I don;t like movies not because of cast but for cringe writing and lack of emotional story progression.
Not gonna lie, given the moments in the episode before this, I was fully expecting Lim to send him off. But, after seeing how affected she was when Shaun said he saw his brother dying when he saw her like that, I was thinking maybe I was off in my assumption. Cause Lim's known Shaun long enough to know that it's never easy for him to talk about his brother, because of how much it hurts him.
So PROUD of Shaun here. His growth is amazing and emotional as a viewer I love this show with my whole heart. It's the best part of my week
Right! I was suprised he actually said sorry, I cant remember when he’s said it before

If Glassman was Shaun’s father figure then the closest I’d say to a mother figure would be Lim. This scene was beautiful ❤
That’s exactly what I was thinking
true. Dr Lim one of the earliest doctor that recognize Dr Murphy ability as a doctor.
Exactly
The medical team (and Lea) is Shaun's family.

I think this is Lim wants from Shaun. She wants Shaun to admit that he didn’t know that his plan to save her life would ended Lim being paralyzed.
