"Black girls of all shades and ethnicities, don't be afraid to shine. Your hair is magic and your skin is divine. "
-A little poem my dad made for my sister and I when we struggled with our complexions. I am dark and she is light. We need to stop separating ourselves by hue. Its disgusting and what slave owners conditioned slaves to do. We are all black girls. Black girls unite.
yess unite!! also, that poem is beautiful
Yaas Girl. This poem is amazing & more people need to hear it.
✊
@Mike Ken and that's why people like you will always be miserable.
Mike Ken Wow. Okay. And ignorance should be with ignorance. just as yourselr.
"The blacker the berry the sweeter the juice"
Ive heard that so much
Amelie Tremblay how though? How is that statement racist, please do explain.
Justin Perry and the lighter the chocolate the sweeter the taste. God stop this
Hmmmmm is dont know if thats true.
@Amelie Tremblay racist is hate against a religion or skin tone... Your an idiot because the lady who said that in the video said it in a positive way not negative so really you are the racist one for bringing it up.
"At the end of they day we're all black"
I love that.
Pїlaя Cоvїиgтои right when I read that it said it on the video
dark skin: people make me feel ugly
light skin: people make me feel excluded
This is the ultimate comment
Nope. People make mixed people feel ugly as well.
@@CrybabyJazz only the lighter of the 2 races they are mixed with
Dwayne6864894e no I get discrimination on both sides. No side is trying to claim us
@@lanamorecy1806 Tbh I get along better with white people but I never tried or wanted to be claimed by either both of the races. I’m mixed, even though it’s not an "official" race and I’ll always identify as mixed cuz I’m not fully one race. But I do respect biracials that wanna identify as black or whatever, it’s how they view it and that’s ok :).
All skin tones are beautiful
+cherrybonbon81 no, you are beautiful.
+Aydjile thank you. :)
Black is beautiful 😍
Everyones beautiful
All shades of black are very beautiful!
It's a shame there's discrimination within a race because the color of your skin when there's already discrimination between different races for the same reason. It makes me pissed off. Black women should stick together not tear each other apart.
I agree with you it absolutely sucks that my own people have such hatred towards me for my skin tone.
Colorism is soo bad within the black community. It's terrible to see the divide.
This topic reminds me of the two independent documentaries called *_Dark Girl_* and *_Light Girls_*. This skin tone issue is a sensitive topic within the Black community, and those documentaries completely broke my heart. It's an excellent watch (for anyone who's interested).
skin tone has been my biggest insecurity for the longest, and I'm only 13. I've alwayysss wanted to be lighter especially bc my mom is light with the clearest skin. It really got worse when I moved and a lot of the black boys at my school would tell me they only dated "foreign" and "light" girls. It took me tonssss of self pep talks and compliments to realize my skin is gorgeousss and if a boy doesn't supposedly doesn't think I'm attractive bc I'm a darker shade, there's a problem with him, not me. The black community should be embracing all of our skin tones and not shaming certain shades; took me a while to figure out. Y'all are all beautiful💛
Jennifer Godwin 💕
We are all indeed black, but we do not get treated "almost exactly" the same.
It's so hard to deal with colorism in our community. Loving yourself for who you are is the most important thing.
Lol we don't not get treated the same. Stop
nah you're just lighter.
a white racist person will see you as a nigga just like me
+Michal Azevedo yes I know this I was responding to someone in the video. Lol
So what you're saying is you haven't noticed it yet? Ok
Its sad when people downplay others experiences.
the girl in the thumbnail is very beautiful!
and looks like michael jackson
thats what i was thinking
My mom is kind of light and my dad is dark but both of my parents black and I came out light just like my mom. It's annoying when my darker friends say "oh you're light skin you don't understand the struggle of being black." I'm not even that light. I'm a light brown almost caramel. In the eyes of society. I'm still black. I get treated just like every other black person would
lol me too but everybody thinks I'm Mexican or something when I have a mini Afro
caramel sounds so beautiful!
Bitch no u don't deal
chris ce thanks
G Thomas same I get that too. I get hispanic or mix
I get that light skin people might feel targeted but regardless they get a lot more privilege over dark skin women. When you see magazines or music videos it's always light skin women that are being advertised, light skin is to most people synonymous to beauty and dark skin women are looked down upon even in our black community, even by dark skinned brothers.
+aisha uchiha it's just sad, I LOVE dark skin.
this is true :/
Blah blah blah
Miss Moonae That’s because they oppressed themselves into thinking that
And for that us light skins will always be hated for our skin.
It's weird that darker/lighter blacks discriminate against each other.. When in societies eyes all black is black
nickroiz I don’t care about any color and I’m light complected it’s sad that people in general need to put labels
Nope, light skins are view differently. Stop dragging us in your insecurities
@@thecraplordsell4575 My opinion is coming from the viewpoint of a nonblack person and I stand by what I said. Maybe because I'm from the South and have witnessed a lot of racism/discrimination, but white people and a lot of other races don't care what shade of black, black people are. When it comes down to it, if you're light skinned you're black, if you're dark skinned you're black. It seems like only the black community differentiates the 2. If you ask any other race of people what race a light skinned person is, guarantee they just say black.
@@nickroiz No they wouldn’t. People are starting to be more specific with race now. Most people will not look at a light skin and say he’s black. They clearly see he’s a yellowish brown color. Stop living by that stupid one drop rule that’s completely outdated when it comes to race and ethnicity nowadays. Also, it depends on features. If they have more African features than people would assume he’s black. Most people think of dark skin as black. Light skins are not black since they appear more European looking than dark skins blacks. You’re just trying to drag us in your insecurities.
@@nickroiz Not to mention, light skins can completely look different with straight hair. They look very Hispanic or Arab with it. While dark skins look Indian.
Black is beautiful💕💕
I think black skin is beautiful 😍😍😍
SheistyProductions thank you

"There's just so many beautiful shades."
Nailed it.
black skin is beautiful and white same
Just black!
@@Jryder933 all skin that is healthy is tho💜 as long as you have healthy skin and take care of your skin its beautiful
I'm so proud that my mother raised me to love all skin tones, I am mixed and I love that I come from strong roots. black people are diamonds! truly beautiful in body, soul and mind. My mother and her side of the family proves this 100%!
As a mixed person I hate when people say we don't get it as bad. Yes we do. other darker black people get mad at me and call me names and light skinned just because they assuume I get treated better by caucasian people. And then caucasion people constatntly treat me like Im sketchy because Im darker than them. Being mixed honestly is just constantly being left put of both groups. Which is worse than having a group to begin with.
I like this channel so much more than buzzfeed.
All women are beautiful, all women are equal.
Do Hispanic women next
actually do white Hispanic woman and black hispanic woman
+Allison Dell what the difference we have the same culture in latin america we all have the same culture no matter what your race is
Im a pony Yes not necessarily true some black hispanics on purpose get lighter skinned husband or wife cause they think it will make them look better for their family. There is a document about it. Its just as sad.
that is not have nothing to do with what i say and this practices is for the whitecentrist beautty i was saying that the latin american countrys share the same culture no matter the race in a white house and in a black house will eat the same, will listen the same music and etc
Allison Dell
and whats the problem with that, in this case the racist are the black one and even if they think in that way dont mean they hate their own race they just prefere the other race characterices and viceversa
The girl in the thumbnail is beautiful OML! 😍
Yeah she's gorgeous!
Who?
Yall are all beautiful. No matter what if I see mix women or childern I say they are more black then mix :) love yall my black sisters :)
Jase Rudolph that’s how you get bred out like the native Americans.. they don’t even look Indian anymore..
Sherazade Mayers that’s exactly how natives got bread out the same way Egypt got breed out. If you don’t like it ignore the comment and move on with your life.. facts are facts regardless of how you feel.
I love my skin I'm black and beautiful, and I'm not going to let colorism dull my light. Nor should any dark or brown skin black woman, glow and keep on glowing.

PREACH!!!👏👏👏✊
Fucking slay !!
People need to listen. She said we are all treated 'almost' exactly the same, not all the same.
we aren't even "almost" treated the same, that's bs, why can't people just admit that colorism exists? The same way white people like to pretend racism doesn't exist, black men, and light skin women (mainly) love to pretend that colorism doesn't exist, that we're all the same, and all "black at the end of the day" that's bs
My answer: Unimportant, skin tone doesn't matter
we all have a human skeletal structure and a human heart and a human mind so whether you are disabled, black, asian, white, native american, or any other race, mental issues, health problems, we are all people and the real race should be humankind because we are all people and i dont see why anything else should affect it
Sadly not everyone thinks like this.
if only everyone thought like this.
+lucy m you right and wrong at the same time. we are all humans... but we are all different. and we have different skeletal structure, different hearts and so on.
+lucy m You didn't say Indians, Middle eastern and Latinos so i'm Gussing there not Human to You???
Iron Fist i said 'or any other race' since there are so many and i didnt want to leave out any, im sorry if you took it the wrong way or if i offended you
the woman in the thumbnail is mixed
and? she probably personally identifies as an African American woman (and that's okay)
+Danielle Howard Can I as a white person identify as black?
+Proquer how is that even comparable
+Proquer if you're not half black then no you cannot, dumbass.
Who cares
“The blacker the berry the sweeter the juice”
Me being a theater kid: hairspray!
except blackberries taste like baking soda and chalk
This is so sad to me..I'm naturally white and I'm basically translucent. I get made fun of for being white all the time even today with some of my close friends calling me out on it (playfully I might add). We shouldn't have to care about how dark or how light our skin is. All skin is beautiful skin. We are all human beings. We are all different and I always felt like African women were so beautiful. Don't let people get you down. You're truly a work of art.
Julia Chernov oh shut up, it's always been thought of as more attractive to be pale, I'm pale as fuck and I know that I'm so sick of pale girls acting like it's seen as a bad thing. Fuck off
it depends where you grow up, im white and live in a densely latino populated area , where all the time im ridiculed for being white. Shes not saying its a bad thing shes saying that racism exists everywhere . and if you consider being racist to white people "reverse racism" im sorry but youve just made yourself to be racist
Liv Lab be nice
Liv Lab
she has some bad experiences too. not every culture finds pale attractive. why should her problems be less serious because she is paler and you aren't?that's colorism
Liv Lab
Yeah hahahaha. Snow White is a classic ugly duckling story
"i mean, to me, the blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice so whats up" lol i like that shes cool
This video is an inspiration to me.
However, the sad part is light-skin black people gets treated better than dark-skin black people.
And some folks think black people are treated the same. Like I always tell them. Look at black
celebrities on tv. Then come back when you figure out what SHADE of black people you see.
Bobbi Polk They even picked the light-skinned black for the video thumbnail lol
They are treated the same in society’s eyes all they see is black so..........
I will never understand how people could think skin tones make a person less or more. Diversity of skin and hair and everything is honestly one of my favourite things about this planet.
Light skin mixed people always have to point fingers at their black side, never to their white side whom they seek acceptance from.
somrazy3 sooo true , they're always criticising their black side when we accept them the most. White proplr would never accept them as white
somrazy3 where is the acceptance? I dont get accepted from either side so...
Cry me a river
Actually, I'm half black and white and I've never had to explain myself as to what I was to my white side. Always had to prove it to my black side which is a shame because I love both. If I were to wear box braids, I would get so many people telling me I'm appropriating their culture while my darker sister rocks hers. I'm glad they spoke out about it.
Oh so you know so much about our (LS) struggle you can speak definitively on it? So sick of people like you that try to define our experience for us, when you have no damn clue only running your mouth based on assumptions that are false!
I am lightskinned. I have been treated like crap by both sides when I was younger for being Biracial. Now a days, its by the black community more. They think we are stuck up because we are lighter, portayed as much prettier. My sister is darker than me and shes gorgeous! Ive never once thought I was better, nor am I stuck up. I was called a bitch and almost forced to fight because I spoke proper and sounded "white". Smdh. All skin tones are beautiful.
Dont bully someone that has no control over something they were made into.
I'm probably gonna get hate for this, but here I go.
I live in a black/hispanic dominated area. Black people are 40% of my school and Hispanics are 45%, and I am one of the 15% of whites.
I've been beaten to the ground several times for being white, ridiculed, and out casted. I've wanted to be a different race so many times because of that. Really, the way you're treated only depends on where you live.
I'm sorry that happened. think that's pretty true that in most places the minority race is treated worse with places like South Africa being the exception to the rule. On the other hand you have a better understanding of the dynamics of prejudiced then most.
+Emma Brooke I wouldn't boil it down to just that, although where you live/come from plays a big role in how you are treated. However sensible it may seem it's not effective to project your life experiences onto all experiences. Some people are treated differently because their skin color isn' t the same as the norm. Some people are treated differently because they're disabled physically or mentally, some people are treated differently because of mental illness. And oftentimes these people are overlooked Anyone who differs from the norm within a community, society or the greater world will be treated differently. Nothing is ever that simple.
Lighter skinned people are more privileged do to having Eurocentric features, but the thing about it is you can get so close but yet be so far. I would explain the last part , although I am lazy.
No its not about features its about skin tone
Jamela Moore /r/woooosh
I wonder why they decided to put the lightskin mixed girl to be thumbnail picture?
I love this video. Growing up I had a lot of insecurities about my skin colour as well. All colours and races are beautiful.
I love the lady with purple lipstick
Black and Afghan mix is really cutesee..btw they are all BEAUTIFUL..
for the last who says that no matter what skin tone of black you are, it doesn't matter because were all treated almost the same i have to say...i see what she means. For dark skinned people, they get discriminated and judged by other races. And while it might be seen that light skinned blacks are treated "better" that can be seen as a false statement too because they get judged by there skin in their own communities because they're seen as not "black enough" or "not black at all". It's a situation of skin color that has been rooted so deeply in the black community but shouldn't matter at all because were all black.
Fuck this. We are all human. ONE love!
this was awesome! I hope you do one with mixed race people like me.
Me too!!
I’m a blonde and I have pretty pale skin. I get inspired so much by these woman 👏
Honestly watching this makes me see that all skin tones don't understand what it is to be that color dark brown light we are treated different and we need to realize that its just a skin to and tone just have that self love ✨
no matter what color u are your beautiful 💖💖💖
I know people are calling out the last black girl's quote "we're all black,we'll all be treated the same" and I don't think people are understanding what she's saying. Yes,different shades of black people are treated differently,by black people or the world, but we can all still face the same discrimination, racism and hatred because we ARE black.
You should ask multiracial people to do a word association with "what are you?"
That would be pointless. They're just going to answer "White".
Kevrokk Kills ignorance and no they probably won’t why all the unnecessary hate
The darker the chocolate the richer the taste the darker the berry the sweeter in my opinion those are the best words I can ever here 🥺✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾🖤
it's really sad that black people aren't only discriminated by white but also by black people. I can't imagine what it must feel like to be constantly judged :(
+IncrediBelleJessi
White AmeriKKKa left it's ugly mark on Black People and we are still struggling to wash it off.
And it sucks when people tell you that you aren't "black enough" because of the music you like or your religious preference or what you like to eat.
Nabuma Rubberband Kind of like the light skin vs. Dark skin problem?
I remember an experience I had a while back when we were still in school. I was in a group with all my female friends and male friends. We decided to play a game of smash or pass. As we were going down the line of who they would smash or pass the game got more intense. I remember we all had to say why we would smash or pass the person. When it was my turn they all said “Smash because my preference is girls who are lighter than me.“ Keep in mind Im not a lightskin girl. I am a brownskin girl who is on the lighter side. Every stays throwing me in that lightskin category. When it came to one of my friends one of the boys in our group asked “Why u gon pass ha?“ the boy responded “ Cuz she too dark for me. You pretty you just need ta lighten up oreo.“ What he said was completely uncalled for and fucked up. I told him that the comment he made was hella messed up. People always compared me and my bsf. Saying that I was lighter then her and she was darker than me, but we were both brownskin girls. From my experience your either still “too dark“ or your just fine. In my opinion its perfectly fine to have a preference, but it becomes a probably when u talk down on darker women. Especially if the women in your family are darker. And ESPECIALLY if your darkskin as well. Just know everyone’s beautiful in the skin they are in. Darkskin, Lightskin, Brownskin, White, Asian, Indian, Biracial it doesn’t matter. We are all humans at the end of the day ..!💕✨💅🏽
I hate being a light skin biracial girl, everyone always telling me what I am. I always felt “not black enough”. What the last girl said really hit a nerve… thank you for making this video.
people will get treated differently just for being different. we need to stop focusing on the colour of peoples skin and start focusing on the size of their hearts
Dark skin is so underrated. it’s sooooo beautiful. it looks so sleek. especially on an African American baby omg they’re so adorable! darker skin tone is beautiful
Black period is beautiful..stop the division
What would Martin Luther King Jr think if he knew blacks now days where discriminating against each other for their shade of darkness.
There's a lot of things nowadays he probably wouldn't agree with lol
funny, im from a mixed race family and i was always treated like an outsider from both black and white side ....... i never once felt or acted like i was better than anyone but some of my black and white cousins suuurrreee acted as though they were
Skin tone matters, hair texture matters... so cute the crap
Multiethnicgirl 6foot
😕According to from which majority group does skin tone and hair texture matters? I just need to asked to understand your comment, that's all.
cut*
@@christinaleneus1638 skin tone, hair, featurism has always mattered, black women especially have it harder if they are dark skin and have standard black features. So yes, it DOES matter because it determines how you are treated, how much privilege you have, how the world sees you, the list goes on. Colorism and racism go hand in hand. One does not function without the other. Color has always mattered.
skin tone: beauty
It makes me sad thst all human beings have to go through the stage where they hate themselves and want to change. I've been through it. I am happy and strong now. Hope everyone finds themselves at the end. 💜
I'm mixed and i never felt like a belonged in a certain group. When i was in elementry school there was only like two or three, including me, mixed girls and guys at my school in my grade. I wasnt exactly sure we're I belonged or what gender I should hang out with more. I was kinda all over the place and just always felt different and it scared me. Now I'm in middle school and I see many more mixed people my age and it just fills me with joy to know I'm not alone and there are people of my type of skin tone out there. It brings me to tears just thinking about it. Sorry about me, just carry on.
I think every color is beautiful with all of its flaws because thats what makes us unique. And at the end of the day no matter what skin color you are its just a color so we should all learn to love everyone for whom they might be.
COLD............ MUST BE STRONG
Black people as a whole are so divided because of skin tone and its ridiculous. We all deal with racism from other races and now we're being prejudice towards each other. Our oppressors can laugh at how much their divide and conquer tactics worked on us.
“discrimination cause i’m light skin,” lmaooooooo
down south they had the paper bag clubs where if you were darker than the paperbag you weren't allowed it.
Well, in Jamaica, majority of the men prefer brown skinned (light skinned) girls. Some of us dark skins want to be light skinned or a bit lighter
Woman: "We're all black"
Me, whiter than milk: 👁👄👁
I honestly like people with extremely black skin especially when it's smooth, well taken care of skin because it reminds me of a night sky and it's such a calm but bold look. If you have lighter skin then depending whether you take care of it or not still looks beautiful but then again my opinion shouldn't matter much because we all have our own preference in looks.
1:50 I'm liking her vibe so much. She is soo like me.
I think often there is a struggle between lighter skinned black people, and darker skinned black people. Darker skinned black people have been told by white people and people outside our race that we were not beautiful, hence the resentment. Lighter skinned people have been told constantly by the media, white culture, and black culture, that they were beautiful, and that is why they sometimes seem to believe that they are better, and get picked on by darker skinned people. It's so sad that were are still dividing ourselves, the way our slave masters did, we have to rise above this, all people are beautiful and all black is beautiful.
+Christina Buchanan You are leaving out most of those people are better looking.
girl from 0:36 Is so beautiful
+looneyshadow1 ofcourse! all mixed girls are beautiful mi hermano
What do you mean?
There's nothing to explain. Not all Mixed race girls are attractive. simple as. Not one race is completely attractive. Plus beauty is in the eyes of the beholder
Well they look better on average than other race girls man..
Eddie Ruiz
that's your opinion not a fact.I like darker guys but whatever. idc if you like what everybody else likes. you aren't original
Bruh Skin Tone makes a difference.. I am Asian living in Asia and whenever people around me give compliments to a dark skinned person they are like "She is beautiful but black/dark" or "Despite being black she is beautiful". It's as if saying Black skin is automatically ugly and white skin is automatically beautiful with some exceptions . Majority people of my country have the same thinking. It makes me so mad. Why can't you just compliment a person without mentioning their skin tone?
Every shade is unique every shade is beautiful.
I'm actually white. But my skin is lightly brown... Sometimes I'm judged about it. But I don't care. Cause my skin won't tell who I am!
Seeing these comments make me so upset I don’t understand why you guys don’t understand we are all black regardless. I am lightskin and we are always seen as less black because of our lighter Tone why does that even matter? We as black people will always be seen the same by other races as soon as they see we are darker they don’t care lighter or darker so can we please stop this Lightskin vs Darkskin dullshit it’s annoying and just to remind you Lightskin people have two black parents MIXED means having one white parent I say this because most people see us as white anyways when they don’t understand what they are even saying so just because we come out lighter does not mean we aren’t black in order for other races to respect us we have to start off respecting each other cuz it seems we all have a problem with that 🙄
I hate being dark skin. Always have. When I was a kid, I grew up around primarily white people, and I was always teased. I was called burnt, overcooked, if it was dark they couldn't find me, etc. When I was 4-10, I would pray almost every day to wake up white. I am the darkest in my family, and I always felt jipped. Lighter skin black women are always portrayed as beautiful. At one point, i said I was gonna bleach myself. I am 15 currently.
Not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
I didn't know that light skinned black people got treated both good and badly just because of what's natural to them. Their skin tone..
All different shades of BLACK are very beautiful!
I'm Mexican-American, I'm nutmeg colored, there is colorism in the Latin world as well. I grew up being told I am too black and that I need to stay out of the sun. It was just constant criticism of my skin color. Now that I'm older I just tune it out and will only judge by someone's character. I don't care what color you are, if you treat me like shit you will get the same treatment as well. Another thing I am always asked what ethnicity I am, people ask if I'm Somoan, Black, Hawaiian, Native American, Indigenous Mexican (which I am kin to) Korean(???) and Eskimo, East Asian. Anyway I have a young son and he has shown me already that he does not judge by color either.
I'm black, native American, japanese, and white and people just go ahead and call me Asian because I'm pale but not like white pale......its kinda dumb. All skin is beautiful.
before i watch:
melanin
I love black people, there lit, there funny, and they are fun to be with. I'm an Hispanic and have black friends and we bond haha
Honestly I needed to see this video because everyday someone puts me down about my skin colour just like "oh ur too white to be black" or like "you don't look black so stop claiming You are" and Ive been getting told this my whole life to the point where I don't like my skin colour anymore and it's not right.
I want people to accept me for who I am as a person and not what I look like
I know your just a human being
It hurts my heart that anyone has been made to feel "less than" due to their skin color. Nobody is elevated by trying to tear down those around you. Women of all races/shades should be encouraging and advocating for each other's equal treatment regardless of if we are a part of that group or not. I think we can all empathize with the feeling of wanting to belong and so we should absolutely be able to find it in ourselves to advocate for the representation needed to make that sense of belonging a reality.
That poor one girl. How many times has she probably heard the exact same mean girls quote ?
It'd be so fuckin' boring if everybody had the same skin tone. People need to chill tf out and enjoy the pretty scenery.
CORRECTION: It SHOULDN'T matter, but it absolutely does.
1:05 Glow in the dark I know this is a serious topic but glow in the dark 😂😂😂😂😂
This video made me soooo happy to watch, I love everyone so so much . YOU ARE LOVED AND WORTH IT.
Some people prefer darker skin tones and some prefer lighter and theirs nothing wrong with that.
Skin tone doesn't matter what matters is what is in your heart.
Hey guys i really love your videos, but i have a suggestion.
Can you make more mental health ones? I know you made the Eatin Disorder ones but that's very different from many other mental health problems obviously.
I would love if you would make some about depression, autism, etc.
Love your channel! :)
it's sad because I would rather be lighter or white if I could..because to anyone I'm not beautiful enough I'm either too dark or just black.
Lmao, that "black" girl is paler than me.
+Dyl LMFAOO 😂 😂 DAMN!!
+Dyl Lmao
yea bc black people dont have the same skin
My mom is 100% black, born and raised in Nigeria, but is as light as the girl in the video. Black people come in all shades
Felicia is she igbo?
Wow the last woman talking made me have goosebumps.
