I've been living the Hanta Virus nightmare. Travel trailer in the Mohave Desert. I'm moving into a nursing home because I'm coming down with all sorts of diseases and conditions at 69. I have recently acquired Lupus which can give one all sorts of issues and now I'm struggling with losing my ability to walk. Weak legs no fun. Asthma and suddenly I'm on oxygen. I think once I get out of this old falling apart trailer? I think my health can only improve. I hope so. I'm giving up my freedom way earlier than I thought I would in my life. But taking my guitar and a positive attitude. I used to cook in a couple nursing homes a few years back. They're not so bad. Send prayers!!😂❤I'm tired of being stranded with a broken down trailer and broken down car in a terrible economy. I couldn't see anywhere out but this. So I'll be travelling via utube from now on. I used to live near Rosamund CA, had a friend who lived there. On the road out to her place, there was a graffitied, abandoned hanger. She told me that no one would go near it because Charlie's "Family" used to occupy it. Rosamund is a couple hours away from Bishop.

If you actually lived near "Rosamund", as I did some 45 years ago in Cal City, you would then know it's spelled "Rosamond".

MSRP on that VW was $1699.00 and lots of folks wondered if it was worth it with a same year full size American sedan starting at only about a thousand dollars more . The Beetle's fuel economy wasn't as important with 34 cent a gallon gas .

April of 1968... What was I doing?
I turned 17 on April 3rd... And Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated the next day on April 4th. Then came the race riots in my hometown of Baltimore.
Then two months later Robert F Kennedy Jr was assassinated in Los Angeles. '68 was a pretty bad year for everybody.

I was stationed at Marine Aviation Detachment, NAS Memphis, when MLK, Jr. was assassinated. I spent the weekend in the restriction barracks for breaking curfew after Millington cops turned us over to the Master-At-Arms.

Got to air down! Those KO2s wear fast...rotate and then upgrade to the new KO3s. You should make your way to the old Barker Ranch...super cool outing, but takes a full day. ...and yes some of those cabins in "___x__x___x___y" are maintained and usable if need be...just not the ones that are all full of rat disease. But over the years - maintained.
    Thanks for sharing!

Hey Sarah, Thanks for taking us on this adventure! Both cottages were amazing, but that second one was fantastic, and obviously in good enough shape that it must still be used from time to time. I wonder about the history of the first one 🤔 Given how remote it is, it's hard to imagine people living there year round as recently as 1968. Wouldn't you just love to know the history around these places?! Either way, thanks for sharing your adventure here with us. Your channel is so cool and you are so entertaining! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
