  • Welcome to Wonderhussy Adventure #805
    Date of adventure: 5/29/24
While looking for a place to camp in a remote desert mountain meadow, I stumbled on a THIRD cabin -- and this one was pretty nice, too! I found some surprising entries in the visitor's book... one of which leads me to believe there might even be a fourth cabin up there somewhere. The mystery never ends!

@jamesmichener3366 I agree 100%! Now, Wonderhussy is so scared of what people might say about her, that she wouldn’t even sign “Wonderhussy” on that cabin’s register.
I am beginning to wonder if she isn’t turning into a Wonderwussy on us?

Wonderhussy, you are so unique that I consider you a national treasure. You see the world (maybe even the universe) through a set of eyes that few people even have the great fortune to even imagine. You are adventurous, spontaneous, and inquisitive - and I can't imagine any better qualities in anyone. Stay you and let us appreciate your adventures through your eyes.

Grizzly Adams was my favorite TV show as a kid. It ran from 1977 to "78. Bozo was the bear's real name; Ben Franklin was his stage name. Coincidentally, there was another short-lived TV series in the late 60's with another tame bear. It was called Gentle Ben.

The Navy, Air Force, and others fly through Star Wars regularly. I've flown through there several times back in the day. The Star Wars Canyon - Jedi transition is among the most fun things I've ever done in a jet... I won't say the actual so as not to get your comments and email blown up by a bunch of gray-haired ED-ridden ball draggers... LOL. But that's mostly all public land, so there's not much they can say... Keep doing what you do, SJ. You make many folks' days better...

I know exactly where you're at! I've been there. We were going to camp in that cabin, but we were warned that it's haunted. I didn't believe in any of that, so the next week, we carried our stuff up to the cabin and settled in for the weekend. About 2am the entire place starts shaking.. dishes were rattling in the kitchen, it was unreal. We grabbed our stuff, loaded up the truck and got the heck out of there. Ended up cowboy camping about 15 miles away. Next day, we went back to the little store where we were warned to get more info. We told them what had happened and some old timer spoke up. He said there's a mine up there and indians had massacred 3 miners, then set the original cabin on fire. The next week, about 10 cowboys laid up and waited to see if any indians showed up. They sure did and the cowboys had the new Winchester rifles and slaughtered them. He said he didn't know who was haunting the place but suspected it was the miners trying to warn you off. True story!

When I was a very young man, I worked in the logging industry on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington state. We would regularly get Navy jets doing low level flight training in the areas where we were logging. The jets were louder than our chainsaws! I remember waving at one pilot and his wave back to me one incredibly clear and beautiful day. I remember that incident because clear days were as rare as diamonds in that area! Good times as a strapping young guy!

In Denver there used to be many backyard incinerators that looked like that brick construction you found. Some still have them and they make cool planters. I didn’t see any other signs of an old cabin or the like. I very much enjoy your videos for many reasons although I don’t get to see all of them. Thanks Sarah and keep up your amazing work

It's a marker. The flagstone lets you know it is not natural and to check it out. The wood on the front is to post a sign or claim information.

Have you considered getting a drone for local air searches? You might find number 4 not far away. You might also consider buying some camo netting for your SUV if you feel the need not to be so visible. I wonder if those low flying jets are out of China Lake.
    Great video.

You aren’t allowed to fly drones in National Parks or wilderness areas, so that limits usefulness for WH. That’s one of the reasons why she rarely uses hers.

I love your videos, reminds me of my sister's and brother in law's 2 cabins in Trinity County, they finally sold, but it was amazing, one was an old miners cabin, the other a newer 2 room one and they actually had electric, but no plumbing, we used an outhouse. it was above Canyon Creek, and beautiful, always loved visiting it, end of an era, my brother in law died in 2015, and my sis in 2018.
