Normally the A-Team's insane improvisation depended on them finding welding torches and a junkyard's worth of parts. THIS is pure improvisation, an order of magnitude beyond what they USUALLY did.
Fun Fact: As I recall a college group did the math in this scene and figured that it was in fact possible to not only “fly” the tank, but also reduce its descent speed by aiming straight down. The tank in question was amphibious so its not out of the question it being able to survive being submerged in water.
Other fun fact: The main gun on the warthog, if fired long enough, has enough recoil to stop all forward momentum of the plane. I bring this up only to say that yes, gun recoil does effect in air things. Now, if they didn't have the remaining parachute, it would have been completely nonsense, but with that, essentially re-catching air every time, it does actually make a sort of sense that doesn't break the 'suspension of disbelief' of this film (especially considering what else they do).

Hannibal instantly calculates the 82 degrees is the perfect angle to fly the tank in the direction of the lake and then another 32 degrees to kill the last drone. You couldn't top this movie with a sequel. It just rocks!
The key to this being fun, is that the characters are having fun. If they were dead serious in that tank, it would be an awful scene. But it isn't. It's fun. It's awesome. That's the importance of not taking everything in your movie so seriously (I'm looking at you, Fast and Furious)

I love how good the cast’s chemistry feels for a modern-ish movie, while also feeling like how the real characters would act
I don't know if this film came at the wrong time were comedy and action only got a few people hyped but damn if it were released now it be a massive success considering this came out all those years ago but still watching it is still mind blowing #WeWhatTheATeamSequel

Did you ever watch the original TV series?
@@michaelsorensen7567 Nah. Why?
I love it when an action movie does not take itself seriously. Perfection, lol.
Well. ua-cam.com/video/8XikLOqR7Q4/v-deo.html
I know right Same
I mean, Sam Raimi learned this decades ago, sad that mainstream hollywood can't get their shit together and needs every action movie to be super smart and super serious now.
That's why I loved the Kingsman movies, Black Dynamite, Kung Fury and, admittedly, the Transformers movie starring Marky Mark where they can't hold a single shot for longer than 5 seconds.
Just good dumb fun.
But…but… family!
I think they encapsulated the A-Team really well. The A-Team have fun doing their crazy shit. It wouldn't be the same if they didn't love it when a plan came together.
@@jacevicki that's what made the TV show fun. Was they never didn't have fun doing crazy shit especially Murdock. "Oh, it needed a little salt" has been stuck in my head for 12 years now.
I mean lets not lie if i was convinced i was gonna die at 35 trying to fly a tank i wouldve already ditched survival and just had a adrenaline rush of fun
How could anyone possibly be serious in a situation like that? What they were doing was patently insane to the nth degree. And the funny part was that it was working. That's the time to be laughing maniacally in the face of death.
I love 3:52 you can hear Murdock “did that work” until he finds the button that closes the hatch. Gets me every time
The chemistry between them is on another level! Perfect casting, IMO!
I freaking love Murdock man such a pleasure watching him laugh it out while everyone else is screaming 😂. Dude lives a good life.
What I love most about this scene is that everything in it is mathematically feasible.
Up to and including the tank driving back out of the lake after... electric power thanks to the hybrid engine.
Except the tank they used doesn't exist. Of course, how they drove the tank out the lake is another question.
@@alastair9446 The Reel Physics review notes the tank is very much modeled from a specific variety with a hybrid engine. The electric motor would work just fine.
Any Source, everything i found so far was that the thrust gained by the weapons would never be enough to decellerate it enough to get it work
@@sebastian3047 Flying the tank was never about stopping the fall... it was about splashing down as opposed to crashing down!
Yo fuck accuracy. This is one of the most hype fun and bad ass scenes ever. The acting is fcking amazing and I love everyone involved in creating this scene.
you on crack if you think that smh
Imagine not being able to enjoy a silly action scene, that's silly for the sake of entertainment and calling whoever likes it "kid"

One of them grabs the top part of the tank and rips it off, using it as a weapon.

Not only is Jessica Biel incredibly stunning, she gets one of the great lines in movie history. "No, they're trying to fly that tank." I love that.
For me the best part is how well written the female character is. They make her smart enough to understand what Hannibal is trying to do.

Perfect acting, great cast, gold dialogue. Another great movie that never had the sequel it so much deserved.
I heard it wasn't a success do u know why?
To me it felt like watching original series
@@hassanawdi3793 because it wasn't considered a good movie back when it came out. It was too over the top and thought of as a nostalgia cash-in and a disgrace to the 80s show.
But since then a lot of other cash grab movies to nostalgic franchises were made that were way worse.
So it retroactively is now considered good in comparison.
And its "over the topness" is relatively harmless in comparison to the cgi nightmares we are used to now.
In contrast to the later entries in the The Fast and the Furious franchise it is downright grounded in reality.

This movie was great, should have been a trilogy tbh
I agree with you. It had so much potential. awesome cast too
It probably didn’t get a sequel cause the actors are too high paid🤣
It also did horribly at the theaters. They made the same mistake studios always make when remaking old shows as movies. They strayed so far from the source material that fans of it hated the remake. Seriously, if they would have changed the name and removed the references to the show, I would have liked it a lot more. Instead I just notice how wrong everything is.
@@explosionsandstuff7787 meanwhile I'm the opposite. I loved the old A-team show and thought this was a nice modern take on it. Sure they strayed from the source material alot, but I feel they could have fixed that in other films.
Hollywood producers would have screwed it up, just like they did with The Matrix.
That line sums up this entire movie, "No, They're trying to fly that tank"
